  1. Taken from Ashcrofts site. What oil should I use in my LT77 gearbox? We recommend ATF Dextron 2 or 3. So I'm going with that as they should know, unless its a cunning plan to get more work mwahhhahahaha!!!
  2. AQM, ATF, MTF 94 I've got 5 litres of Comma spec stuff for the PAS box, can I just throw this in?
  3. I'll wait about for LandymanLuke then
  4. Well it must be good because I was out for a walk a few weekends ago. I police Range Rover scoots past us thought nothing of it until a Brand new dark green Freelander 2 drives past us with Prince Phillip driving and the Queen in the passenger seat. I was a sunday so I pressume they had been to church and were driving back don't you know. They did'nt stop to chat about Land Rovers though. Beat that for celeb spotting in a LR. ps I have a Disco3 and think they look great its a statement of pure design.
  5. Right on my roof rack I have 4 rather nice spotlights. The two outer lamps are Drving lamps (55w Halogen) The two ineer lamps are Fogs (55w Halogen) I want to be able to do the following combinations Outer on Inner on Outer & Inner on Outer on with Full Beam Outer & Inner on with Full Beam Help! Wiring makes my head hurt
  6. Use Land Rover Special Tool #1 A hammer, this bounces them off so to speak nut works a treat
  7. There is a really cheap way into good quality 300tdi defenders. You just need to look at the right things How does this grab you, i bought a (from a specialist dealer) 98R 300TDI Defender 75,000 miles 1 owner Full Main Dealer Service History Serviced, Cambelt and MOT'd £4700 including 12months tax and VAT The catch its a white 110 Hardtop (ex anglian water) If you hunt around they do exist see here http://tinyurl.com/yobnwy
  8. Worked a treat, not even a slightest sign of stress in slag work. You will be able to buy these but not from me as I'm the manufacturer and I've just signed an exclusive supply agreement I can't say much but Scrapiron have expressed an interest in the prototype and once the i's are dotted and the t's crossed you'll be able to purchase the product soon. To be called 'Box Clever' and it will retail at £349.00 this is a reasonable mark up and covers the cost of production. £5 Spanner £5 Plummers Spanner £0.10 Steel £20 Arc welding Rods (yes is waas that many :-) )
  9. I pressume you mean the plummers spanner, well that was because the nut was so tight I put a 6ft scaffold pole to get it undone. Precision all the way
  10. One of my valves stuck, valve stem cap came off now its gone. Can only pressume its gone south down the push rod hole. How the hell do I get it out / check. ?? ED: I know I can take the head off but am looking for a quicker fix as I've just put a new head gasket on
  11. Made this so I could get the correct torque. 1. Take a standard box spanner 2. Get a plummers spanner, hit it very hard until it goes through the holes 3. Find an old socket 4. Find an old bit of steel 5. Weld aboout 6 rods into a big pool of metal and slag 6. Worry it may break so - Weld some more 7. Sit back and admire the most beautiful welding ever. If anybody needs any advice on how to weld like this and not have any of those namby pamby perfect seams let me know and I'll do a full scale tech note.
  12. Right after an extensive rebuild. (see below) MOT day was today but she failed on emisions in a big way. Looks like not all 4 cylinders are playing ball. Now this is quite an expensive do as its £25 per retest so I need to get it right. What should I check? I've had the head of and the old head was replaced with a better looking one, I'll recheck the tappets but are there other items I should test to make sure that I'll pass the dreaded MOT? Its a 2.5 NAD btw Done New Master cylinder New Slave New rear Wheel bearings and Oil seals New rear shoes New discs & pads Full service New PAS box New PAS pump (& pipes to fit - a saga in itself) New Rocker cover (my fault - I put a new gasket on and over tighten the middle bolt - it shattered) New Glow plugs Welded in New Footwells Welded Front Chassis Leg Welded Front O/S Outrigger New Gear Knobs Vanity New Gear Gaiter Vanity Replaced Front Brake Pipes New Wheels and tyres (tubeless off my 300TDi) New Battery Timing Belt New Steering Damper New Gearbox Oil New Rear Diff Oil New Front Diff Oil New Fuel & Oil Filter New Engine Oil Fit New Radiator
  13. Silver is the best colour or blue but suspect blue is soft also. I have a Java Black new shape disco and cause its water based the Black is soft and has more scrattches than a lesbian boxing match.
  14. Once again I should RTFM So I need new shrouds, not been impressed with sqauddie engine so far quite alot of stuff just not done right bolts missing etc.
  15. Right well my rebuild isn't going that well, I have just replaced the head gasket on my 110 2.5 NAD when I took the head off it was starting to crack not a problem as I had another engine that was a squaddie recon unit. whipped the head off that checked it and all good rebuilt everything and last job was to put the injectors in. Drop the small steel washer in and it goes straight through. The head is different to my old one and different ot the one in Les' guide. It has the seat for the large brass washer but no seat for the smaller steel washer it just drops in. (was a bugger to get out again, thought it was going to be head off again). Anybody know anything about this. Is it a squaddie thing? Can I just put the injectors in without the small steel washer? Will this kill the engine? Help!
  16. Answered my own question by reading the workshop manual I forgot I had The above is correct
  17. Right head back on tappets to adjust, got the adjusting order from the Haynes manual but need to know which one is which, not written on engine as stated. is it simply Radiator <---- so we know where the front is. Valve (1) Valve (2) Valve (3) Valve (4) Valve (5) Valve (6) Valve (7) Valve (8) ???????
  18. Brakes have been done, as has the clutch fluid. (Self bleeding, my bottom :-) had to pressure bleed it after putting new master and slave on, nightmare)
  19. I also have the 110 parts 1987 - 1994 catalogue as a PDF can't remember where I got that from though I would like a 300Tdi post '94 catalogue as a PDF if there is one about?
  20. Right the old girl is nearly back together and as a final treatment I'm goint to renew all of the fluids so got a couple of questions for you good folk. 1. Should I just use the handbook spec for the below or has thinking changed? 1.1 Engine Oil (2.5NAD) 1.2 Gearbox Oill (LT77) 1.3 Front Diff 1.4 Rear Diff (Salisbury) 1.5 Coolant (Electric fan) 2. Which are the best for cost effective quality for the above? , Any good online suppliers or shall I just got to local motor factors / Halfwitts (Chavfrauds)?
  21. Yep, sorry should have said the Microcat is the one for part nos, not Rave. Its not that easy to use but it does give you stuff eg I downloaded it so I could work out which nuts to replace the door hinges with stainless affairs.

  23. Your local LR dealer might be a good bet, they are not that expensive. Which switch?
