  1. I've got standard grabbers and they are 235/85 R16
  2. I doubt Solihuls finest is hurt But.... I 'd get that whiplash seen to ASAP
  3. Rest of the chassis is awesome and spot on. It was waxoiled a while ago but I never cleaned out the mud trap at the back and it was full of sandy / dusty road carp. I've had the Landy for years and it's a keeper The rest of the chassis / crossmember is so good it seems a shame to not patch up the one small bad bit if that makes sense.
  4. Can't help with the trailer but if your going out of season it's worth looking at Camping Cheques. (April / May) We use them and save a fortune in Europe http://www.campingcheque.co.uk/
  5. I'm lost with the "disco bottle jack"?????? I'm a bad a stick welder so may get somebody who knows what they are doing on the case then
  6. When looking at my rear crossmember it was looking a bit flakey so like a kid picking a scab i had a look. 30 mins later and after a whacking with a wheel brace and attack of the angle grinder wire brush we have this. Everywhere else is solid and in good shape. So weld in a new bit? or reaplce the whole thing?
  7. I can only assume it was transferred to her 'new' Defender. A444 is retired now I think
  8. Heater blower motor for a 98 300TDI RHD? Help?
  9. The V8 sounded ace! Now if I didn't have to pay for fuel I'd have a 110 V8 with lift up handles and leather seats. There wasn't a spot of rust or a single sign of electrolyte corrosion. Shows they know how to build them proper if they want to.
  10. A444 RYV, saw this while out on my push iron. (in reflection) Wasn't Liz herself but some foreign delegation types having a play around the grounds. Looked nice. Note: the lack of number plates
  11. So it blows fuses when switched on. Took wing top grill off, full of water and ****. Bung stuck and full Fan full of water and was very stiff Now not blowing fuses but still not working so I assume needs a new blower. Motors seem expensive at £70 :-/ Any tips? Anywhere sell them cheaper? Worth putting a new matrix in for £40 while were on?
  12. No time or space. If I had the time and space I'd love to build a Defender for life. Get a wriiten off newish Puma 110 CSW, Richards galv chassis, Galv bulkhead foor wells and seat box. Paint all the Galv chassis, waxoil, transplant all of my 110 running gear, change the transfer box for a discovery. Rebuild with all stainless fixings, add additional sound deadending everywhere.Waterproof, waterproof and waterproof again. Seal and waxoil the doors. Add a barrier between all steel and ali. Never sleep in case it gets nicked. But for now, I don't have time or space. So I'm gonna buy a ready made (but not quite as good) standard one
  13. Hmm had a few now: 1. Started with SIII 2.25D called Betsy 2. Then a SIII Lightweight with a 2.25D Transplant and a Truckcab top 3. Then a '84 110 called Dorris 2.5D 4. Current is a 98 Defender 110 Hardtop 300TDI called Fridge (the one I'm gonna sell and she is without a doubt the best Land Rover I've owned ) 5. Current is a 06 D3 TDV6 called Disco (bought it new and I've kept a full main dealer history - ouch!) (6.) Future is a 110 CSW TD5 (or if I could find another 300TDi with less than 60k but these don't seem to exist)
  14. £6.5k surely not I'm in no rush at all so could hang on but I though £5k tops?
  15. Right I'm gonna sell it. I've been back and forth and I thought I'd keep my beloved 110 but it doesn't make sense. 7 Years together but it has to come to an end. Right here we go: 1998 110 Defender Hard top in White 300TDI 2 Owners from new (Water co & me) 88,000 miles Good service history Every MOT to validate mileage Side windows fitted Window Tints on all rear windows. Full Dixon tow pack This is the last of the 300TDi, it's low miles, genuine as they get, starts on the button and drives superb, engine is great and the gearbox is spot on (it's a really good one) and would be an excelent overland base vehicle: I'm going to sell it with: 12 months MOT 12 months tax Service by Landy indie garage (and fit new water pump and P gasket) Bad bits: The chassis is solid, it's very very good but there is a small 1cm hole in the rear cross member near the jack hole The body has electrolyte corrsion in the usual places and it's fair share of Landy dints Bulkhead is good but needs a rub down and touch up. So what's it worth? £3000? -> £4000? -> £5000? I just don't know where to pitch it, I know it's good but it's still a van 110 but it's low miles and the very last of the 300TDis, to the right person this is a cracker.
  16. Nope, Freestyle (star shaped ones) are not rated for a 110 Boost & XS (deep dish) are fine on 110s (I think)
  17. So get this one then? http://shop.defenderbits.co.uk/defender-300tdi-water-pump-qh------peb500090g-696-p.asp
  18. Spend some money, there's a full set in the Classifieds and get the Boost alloys. They look great and the General tyres are great also. Coniston Green + White steel wheels = Looks correct Epson Green + Silver alloys = Looks correct Although a 95 should have XS alloys really ( or Freestyle but seem to think the load rating was a touch lower although you see them on plenty of 110s)
  19. £50 for a LR one http://www.island-4x4.co.uk/water-pump-300tdi-genuine-peb500090lr-stc1086lr-p-5651.html £19 for a Airtex OEM one http://www.island-4x4.co.uk/water-pump-300tdi-airtex-peb500090g-stc1086g-p-2877.html Spend £31 more?
  20. I'll get a Britpart pattern one, I've heard they are the best.
  21. My Defender is getting hot quickly and losing coolant. Having a look around it looks like the alternator has brown stains on it. Is this the P gasket then? Leaky pump? Big job?
