  1. Any recommendations for breakdown insurance on an old (1985) 110.At the moment i have cover as part of my Adrian Flux motor insurance,but I'm assuming that (as with all companies now) they will raise the premium to ££s stupid (hoping you can't be bothered to swap).....so will now look for separate motor/breakdown insurances.? Cheers,Mick.
  2. Some good sound advice on the whole from previous posts,I would just add ,ditch 'Discovery 'wheels ASAP they are NOT rated for a vehicle of this weight/load potential.Wolf wheels best ,but check your studs they may need uprating to longer type. Mick
  3. Along the right lines there;more like internally delaminating turbo hose stopping full air flow ,rather than fuel......ie; it's being strangled.Also flush out /clean intercooler & fit new air filter. Mick
  4. ...........now I'm not that familiar with the TD5,but to me it sounds a bit like duel mass flywheel/clutch problem?? Mick
  5. I think that years ago they did most business with farmers.....under writers saw this as a pretty safe bet....but then as word got round{including on the forums}more & more city bound LR owners signed up with a subsequent rise in claims due to thieving pikeys seeing our motors as easy uneaned income
  6. Maybe some other members from overseas would like to pass on any positive experiences [quick & problem free service or ,,,mistakes can happen.... ..rapid & polite rectification?]............I don't run a business,but if I did I'd bend over backwards to not tarnish the repute of my firm & country especially to overseas clients
  7. they are heavy enough as it is ....may be if took rust proofing more seriously 2m/m would be fine.....seems funny how the older chassis have lasted 20/30+ years, yet I wouldn't bank on 10 for later ones
  8. I hope to get my objection in on time .They cannot TRO for the reason of 'wear' as their DUTY under law is to maintain/repair the lane for ALL users ......but they will! because they rely on our ignorance/apathy & lack of financial wherewithall to counter their biased & arrogant proposals http://forums.lr4x4.com/public/style_extra/post_icons/icon7.gif
  9. Unless an automotive engineer can come up with a definitive answer I'm pretty certain logically it makes no difference to any rotational dynamics
  10. On my 110 & recently my sons 90 same problem....maybe clutch fork[if the accountants would allow a forged steel item there'd be no probs....BUT in british industry they know more than mere engineers !!!!!!?]....I fear though it's possibly the cheap plastic release bearing guide jamming{note how the Japs tend to upspec. thier components & so have long lived reliable vehicles =good reputation=repeat sales ....but our accoutants know best }
  11. I don't doubt the integrety of your particular job....but all these postings may encourage the less able but keen/brave bodgers to experiment I'm all for experimentation/inventiveness for strictly off road driveing but believe the road hsndling could be compromised , as they say ...."if it's such a good idea manufacturers would have been there long ago"
  12. Procomp again?...not top mounting eye sheared was it?
  13. I've marveled at all the ingenuity/inventiveness of all the postings{it's what make Britain Great!]....but ,simple soul I am ...what is the bottom line? what do you want [via these complex Heath Robinson ...dangerous?/illegal? mods] to achieve?....foward motion over undulating terrain...ans.= axle lockers...safe/proven/legal
  14. I assume it was not fitted with a THATCHEM approved immobiliser then?.....Oh the irony!
