  1. That was the most pop up ads, moving pictures and computer overheat inducing peripheral balls I've ever seen on a website. That said I've two Td5's. If I'd any money I'd have more.
  2. Legend @FridgeFreezer thanks man @Discostoo Hi mate, you know it'll be worse than it looks right? You've three panels in play there, the inner wheel arch, the rails for the boot floor and the floor itself. To do it right you'll prob need to cut and let new metal into all three in places. But you could just throw patches in and hope they last long enough for you to have the energy to do it again in a few years Have a look at episode 26, at about 10:10 there's a shot of how the boot floor rail meets the inner arch. Mind though that you need to look closely to see that the rail forms a double layer with the arch. Anyway the episode will give you an idea of the construction and where exactly to inspect before you make up your mind. Other episodes that might have relevant footage are 13 and 29 [iirc]
  3. Anything's possible, having said that I spent the last two days patching three doors.
  4. To round this off, I got my fittings from Automec. Less than half the price from a LR specialist. Fantastic. For anyone [like me] who might be having a hard time figuring out what size the fitting is, it's M10 x 1mm and the Automec product code is HU106, and the locking nut is LNB2.
  5. Haha well do you blame me not noticing? Hard to tell the factory holes from the slightly newer ones on the original sills. Anyway do you mean the holes down the length of the inner sill? I welded all but the biggest of those up Was thinking if I make two small ones, just big enough for the lance to pass through and well aligned between the underfloor support and the sill end, they'll go some way to helping keep the lance centred down the bore. Then a couple of grommets. Originally hoped the lance would pass through the square tread plate holes but just too small.
  6. Yeah. The slightly annoying thing was that this whole cavity wax experiment was one of the things I didn't twig until later watching the footage back. It was painfully obvious that I prob cold have at least given some of the sill internal a very thin coating. But I couldn't see how much was coming out from the gun end of the lance, it being 5+ feet away from the action. More annoying is I couldn't find the destructions for the compressor and I was rushing too much to get my head around the two outputs. I'll check tomorrow but sod's law says I'm plugged into the reg'd one. Flip. Well I can always open up a small hole and lance the sills later if I can tweak the hose/output/wax temp to good effect. Will make interesting viewing for those who were contemplating a little cheapo compressor. Thanks for the supervision
  7. Think the compressor only makes about 70 PSI, says 3-5 bar and the can of wax says 4-5 bar so it's right on the edge. So even though this stuff is fluid like water at room temp it needs heating? It didn't say anything on the can, but then maybe I didn't read it well enough. Someone also said a larger bore hose to the gun would make a difference too? Here's the episode btw!
  8. Draggin' up an old one here but better this than a new one right The pic below is the union on an RRC found under both front footwells going through a floor support. It's [flipping £17!] fitted by means of the integral hex on one side and a hex nut on the other, to clamp through the panel. Thing is I can't get an answer from any of the suppliers, it's never pictured with the nut, does anyone know if the nut is supplied? I ask because I think it's a fine thread. Any thoughts appreciated George

  10. Think I might have a MAPP torch, it takes yellow bottles which seems to be the MAPP colour. Just can't check just now because it's about an hour away. Think I'll save up for one of those mini oxy propane kits though, they seem the biz.
  11. Been thinking about it and I need to get some of those rods, I'm just concerned that the plumbers type torches I have won't be good enough for the 730˚ he says you need to heat the metal to.
  12. Wow, have to try find that. Ultimately I want to get my head round all this stuff, I have a feel for metallurgy probably not apparent in the videos, it's the technicalities, mastery of the equipment and practice I don't have. I've gotten enough practice in with the gasless yoke that I've realised just how much the video production effects the welding. To produce stop motion for a seam weld in thin sheet I was having to work with a higher heat than optimal and stitch, where a better result is gotten with a lower heat and not stopping between each stitch to take a frame, instead running a bead for say an inch and then taking a frame. It's been a real eye opener and I'm much more confident with thinner and thinner stuff. Puts me in mind of the early RR's with the bolt in floors. The section over the transmission is biscuit tin thin, but I'm looking forward to having a go at it when I get the two door going. I cut that section out to the Defender R380. Brazing is another one I'm excited to get into too.
  13. Have seen those videos too. Thing is you seem to need a perfectly fitting piece for the rod to flow, and with poxy old carp, odd shaped repairs like I have, that's tricky. I'm scouting for an expert at the moment to to do some show and tell once I get my hands on some decent welding gear. I've no doubt TIG is tricky, but I'm up for it. Should say, if the rod and torch method works better for a particular job I'll be going with that.
  14. Well finally getting to look at putting exterior panels back on the car. The rear qtr panels have taken days of work so far and not yet finished. I'm using riveted repair sections to sort them for now but hopefully I'll source an AC/DC TIG any day and an expert to go with it and see whats what with welding them.
  15. Congrats on the NCT. Bit of a joke that the last fella decided the advisories were failures. That sounds like it was on a whim. The doors are double skinned on the ends so when you see rust on the inside layer it's generally not a good sign. I suppose what rust is

  18. Apologies for the silly question but no one lists the nut for the leading end of the rear trailing arm on a RRC. After a bit of research I've found it might just be an M20 nylock. Is that right? George
  19. Didn't realise, I'm used to seeing the comparatively large nuts on the D2, but now that I think about it the studs are small by comparison.
  20. I think the lenses with the black borders are the earlier versions. I know nothing about hub lugs but the ones on those spacers seem light by comparison to the originals, are the wheels off a Freelander or something?
  21. Nice work on the fog light. You have the two different styles of lens, the plan ones and the earlier ones with the black borders, just be wary of that when you are ordering new ones. Ah the rust isn't so bad is it? Is the NS rear rust the corner panel?
  22. You prob noticed I've been trying to be better at that in the last few episodes. It's a case now of remembering to get the cutaway shots at the end of the day. Our cars fella, that's what I keep telling myself. Why wouldn't we all do things as best we could. It's the whole reason I stopped bringing mine to mechanics. That sense of "I don't know as much as you but I know I give more of a f^5k about it". When I was still gainfully employed one of the things we used to tell people was "you can say you don't know something, or you can prove it." Nothing worse than watching someone on YT make out like they know what they're talking about whilst not being aware their actions prove they don't. It's the curse! I look at your shed with longing eyes.
