  1. Hi guys, Been looking at a few suspension packages amd came across one that had standard height shocks with +2 inch lift springs. You'll need to correct me if i'm wrong but will the shocks not be restricting the springs? Is there any advantage to this set up? Does it give an increased right height? Thanks in advance, Robin
  2. Hi gromit, as the title suggests I'm a bit of a novice. Could you give some suggestions how I'd improve on articulation keeping the suspension standard height? What size tyres constitutes huge? I've got 265/75 16's I think can't remember the ratio just now?
  3. Thanks for all the advice! I think I'll take heed and get some extended break hoses as well. As for it becoming a challenge truck in a few years................I wouldn't think of it
  4. Hi All, Can I put +2 inch springs and shock on without having to change the radius arms, bumpstops etc? Will this cause some damage? Is it better to stick to standard height and change everything at once when I can afford it? Thanks, Robin
  5. Get a Makita, I have got a package with a cordless jigsaw and 2 batteries. It's lasted about 3 years, on a farm! I use is for loads of things like a hammer when there's not one to spare!!!
  6. Hi Folks, Does anyone know the part numbers for the seat belt anchor points (the brakets inside the cab that you bolt the seat belt to) for a 90 hard top? Many thanks in advance, Robin
  7. Hi, what sort of things do you keep in your box, is the ply hardy enough? Thanks, Robin
  8. Hi All, I'm planning my first fabrication project, i'm going to make a cubby/battery/tool box to go in the back of my 90, to be fixed behind the bulkhead. I was going to make it from square bar, chequar plate with some edging strips to make it nice and neat. I need some advice on making a lid for it, what kind of hinges are good to use and also I need to devise a way of keeping the lid shut. Any help would be greatly appreciated, hopefully i'll get some pics up once he planning stage is over! Robin
  9. This is a great thread, I think all young mechanics such as myself need to read it before getting stuck into any work!
  10. Hi Les, I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this but I use a pair of clear lensed goggles, similar to ski goggles that I picked up from my PPE supplier. They manage to keep everything out of my eyes when i'm grinding / underneath my 90. Hope this helps.
  11. Thanks for the advice, i was beginning to get FRUSTRATED!!!
  12. Thanks!! I'll give it a try in the morning
  13. Hi everyone, I have some shiney new seatbelts to fit to my 90, but I can't get them to unravel/extend enough. The inertia reel has wound the belt in but now won't give it back!! Any clues? Thanks, Robin (newbie)
  14. Hi Guys, Feeling a bit of a dunce but would someone mind explaining to me how the prefixes on the chassis numbers work? I just don't want to order the wrong parts. Presumably it's alphabetical, but when did it start? Many thanks, Robin
  15. Hi All, Does anyone know of an efficient way of cleaning diesel injectors? I have looked at getting reconditioned units but wanted to see if I could clean up the originals first. Thank you in advance! Robin
  16. Think I need to start saving some pennies!! It seems the 'short' R380 is the best option. Thanks for all your help Robin
  17. Thanks very much! I had already had a quick look at the Ashcroft boxes, they look good. Have you got an R380 twinned to a 200tdi in yours? Do you use the oil cooling? Robin
  18. Hi chaps, I'm planning on upgrading my 19J with a discovery 200tdi, I have a complete disco for the conversion. The existing lt77 gearbox in the 90 has an issue with the synchro between 3rd down to 2nd. Can anyone help me with a few questions? How difficult is it to fix the synchro? Or can the levers be altered on the disco box to fit the 90 levers? Or option 3 do I need to fork out for a recon box? Any help is always appreciated, Robin
  19. That's a pleasent bit of scenery!!
  20. I use Miller Oils 15W/40 in mine, seems to do the job. We stick it in the tractor and diggers we have as well, they all have way too many hours on them to mention!!!
  21. Hi all, I have some standard series 3 wheels and would like to fit some new tyres. Are there any all terrain tyres that would do the job and what size is best? The tyres will be the main set I will use as I have a nice knarly set for the mucky stuff. Thanks in advance, Robin
  22. I just used gloss from the local building supply centre!! It worked pretty well, if you get yourself some gloss pile mini rollers it's a doddle and doesn't take long at all!
  23. I would roll on some etch primer followed by white gloss, I did 2 coats of primer follwed by 3 of gloss. To get a nice smooth finish some (I mean a lot) of wet and dry is required. If you are going to roll it on try and find gloss pile mini rollers, the foam ones in my experience aren't brilliant. Think that's the first bit of info given to the forum rather than taken!!
  24. Thanks for all the replies, I will loosen the handbrake when I get a minute. It is an old 90 wiht rear drums, so I'll check that as well!
