  1. 10p and half a tartan button in the post Richard. Les.
  2. I'm not sure that you can always tell! Ladies in general, preferably ones that would be badly affected by a slight drop in temperature due to a clothing problem! Les.
  3. The sites are seperate now Siggy. Trev (bigfoot) has the old LRE site, which is now Land Rover Addict forum, and we have this site. The name will change very soon to LR4x4. It'll also get moved to a new server. Other changes will happen as quickly as possible and you will all be kept informed of developements. This is the 4th day of the changes, it unfortunately takes an amount of time that we have no control over. The other Moderators knew about this 24-hours before this thread was posted by Tony. The forum name and the paypal account were set up after midnight last night. LR90 (the other Trevor) is arranging a better server with help from Geoff Beaumont, who currently owns this site. We have on one occasion sat on msn all night discussing the best way forward to keep the website what we think you would all like. Already the web address www.LR4x4.com will bring you to this site. Geoff is away for the weekend, so next week he and LR90 will sort out a new server, the size and type of forum. We anticipate the growth of the website, so we'll buy in advance enough space to ensure there are no problems. Some of you have already donated to paypal, and thankyou very much. There will be arrangements for other forms of payment in the near future. The important thing we feel is that you all now know that this is a permanent home for you if that's what you want. There have been many arguments on and off the forums and posts on here asking why the secrecy and what is happening. Well you all know from reading this thread. Other posts will have to just disappear into the archives. Any comments on all of this are welcome and we'll listen to what you all have to say about this. I have made a post on Land Rover Addict forum about this and There is no conflict with Bigfoot, the moderators, or indeed the forum members. Some moderators work on there as well as here, and that's ok. Similarly, Bigfoot is ok with me continuing over there as a forum member, and he is still welcome on here, not only as a member, but he has access to the Mods forum as well. That's it really, if anyone needs to know more, then just ask. Les. www.LR4x4.com
  4. See what we have to put up with sometimes? I already sleep with a S1 head on my frilly pillow, so no great shakes there. I'm 'in' with the Mazotta family of swindon Ice Cream van fame, so chill! You really want a war? Les. B)
  5. Remember Bob Morrison and the ridiculous treatment he got from 'ol RG 'cos he worked for the competition? Well he has offered to modertae the Military forum on here. I don't think there's anyone that doesn't remember that fiasco with the magazine, and similarly, I think he has a lot of supporters both on this website and others. If you are all happy with him Moderating the military forum, then I'll make him moderator within a couple of days. Sadly for him, he's not allowed to discuss (in detail) his other favourite hobby! If necessary, our very own Fiona will moderate him!! (piccies will be for sale) Les.
  6. The deleted post was him seeming to have a 'pop' at Leeds. Strange man! Perhaps we should invite him in here for some light entertainment. Les.
  7. I have heard reliable gossip that his chopper isn't that big! Les
  8. Its to buy all that cheap Gin he drinks vast quantities of. Les.
  9. Dougal being controlled by nervous Mods on LRO. They nipped that in the bud fast. Good job. Les.
  10. Set up last night and working. Les.
  11. Ah Richard, there you are! Got the monthly cheque thanks, you are a generous man, and quite attractive too if I may make so bold. We would like you to take some control of this forum, there are some undesireable characters in here that with your expertise, you could soon remove. Alos, there are some right clever dicks infecting the place, any chance you could impart some wisdom as to how to deal with them. I thought website closure followed by petulant silence. What do you reckon? Love to to wifey (hope she's ok) and KG if he's there. Les,
  12. http://threads.lro.com/cgi-bin/wwwthreads/...=collapsed&sb=5 Les.
  13. You'd better stay here or we'll come round and duff you up! B) Les.
  14. Ok, pay attention. Too long you lot have lazed around, with no guidance, but things have changed. Ralph (western) is now Mod of this forum, so behave! Les.
  15. Nay, nay, and thrice nay! 'Tis AZURE blue. Some people have no colour sense or taste! Les (gay and proud!)
  16. Tsk! is that an example of Canadian taste? Les.
  17. I'll switch the angle grinder off then! Les.
  18. Any chance you could bung me a pic of it please Les? Les.
  19. Now that the engine is in catflap and the right way round (a bonus!) . I'm turning my attention to the exhaust system, whch I'll make myself apart from one silencer and the downpipe. I was originally going to bring the pipe under the flywheel crossmember, back up, and along to the back where it'll exit through the PTO hole. However, going under the flywheel crossmember means that that part of the exhaust would be low, and therefore prone to damage from litter in Tesco's car park If I was to cut a curved recess out of said crossmember, weld it so that it still had 4-sides, the exhaust would be tucked up out of the way. I don't know about any problems there might be with altering the chassis with regards to any construction and use regs or maybe MOT regs, although I don't think I'll have a problem with the MOT side of it. Have any of you altered a crossmember in any way and had problems? Thanks. Les.
  20. You'll have to make sure you are an excellent welder as a leak will be a right pain - remove, empty, vent, re-weld, etc etc. I've replaced the bottom of a fuel tank before and it wasn't difficult work-wise. Les.
  21. Thanks Ralph, I do like to do a good job. Les.
  22. Well I finally got the engine to sit nice and square on the chassis today. I used both the original Td mounts. The passenger side pretty-much lined up ok, but I had to re-shape the drivers side, and not only was it a swine to do, but a swine to fit as well due to the room you don't have! I could have altered the chassis instead, but then if a different engine is fitted in the future, having a standard series mount on it already might be best. Front and rear pictures anyway. A headache for sure, but done. The downpipe points in the wrong place, so I need to see to that next. And from underneath. I'm glad I won't have to do this again (I hope!) Les.
  23. Perhaps not quite on topic, but I made some rock sliders for catflapII recently and have already been asked to make 2-sets for Rangys and 3 for series motors. It seems these things are expensive and sometimes a pig to fit. So I might make a set and donate them to someone who would then hammer the buggery out of them and give a totally fair opinion about them. People could then buy with confidence having seen them in action and not read some glossy advert about how wonderful they might be. A bird in a bikini is all very nice, but testing something to destruction in the environment it is designed for would be the best way of doing it. Besides, we have Fi, she could provide the semi-naked female bod. a simple disclaimer at the top of the forum to inform people that they can't sue and that testing is a personal opinion would most likely be enough fopr the legal side of things. Les
  24. I had a look at 1976 S2A today that a guy is giving away. The vehicle has the 2.25 early diesel engine in it and was fine when it was switched off a little under 2-years ago. Now there is no compression at all. The engine can be turned by hand, but there is just a steady resistence, no point of compression, and no hiss of air out of the valves. I can't think what could happen to a diesel engine that would make it have no compression at all after standing for a couple of years. The crank is definitely turning, but perhaps the cam is not, but then there would have to be a valve wide open in every cylinder to have this effect. I'll probably pop the head off to have a look, but I wondered if any of you have come across anything similar? Les.
