I'm planning on fitting my Jak Mac diffs this weekend - what sealant do i need to use when fitting the casing back on, and do i need to bother with the LR paper gasket???
Yup, pilot drilled and enlarged a few sizes at a time, its fairly thick plate as its a rear crossmember for a winch and could well have suffered local case hardening from the plasma cutting of the "letterbox".
I have a Zeus pocket handbook here being an engineer it comes in handy from time to time (altho not much call with sewage work design!)
Feed speed is a tricky one, as its all drilled by hand its dependant on position, time of day, time since i ate, tiredness and how fed up i am with drilling holes
That makes sence, however i cant fit the d-lander in the garage, let alone the pillar drill!!!
I tried to drill some holes for a fairlead last night and it took ages and they were brand new standard HSS bits, so i'm thinking somthing er, better would benefit me as i've got a lot of holes to drill!
I'm after some decent drill bits, but should i be looking at Cobalt/HSS bits, or TiN (Titanium Nitride) coated bits, or just standard HSS bits.
Can anyone reccomend some decent ones that will cut throught anything time and time again?
EDIT: Oops, i ment to post this in tools & fabrication
A carbon kevlar twill weave has excellent impact resistance and very light weight, all the good properties of both carbon and kevalr mixed together - not overly expensive actually but laying it up requires alot more skill than standard glass to make it strong, ideally vac bagged and autoclaved.
Can any of you chaps post a break down of what is needed for hydro assist stearing as i'd like to try it on my d-lander as i'm going to be running 37" tyres and think it would be of benefit
I use a mini HVLP gun on my standard compressor, its a 2.5hp twin with 50l tank and does the job nicely (shame my technique is carp) - i dont know how this would compare to a dedicated setup but i do know axminster tools are normally of excellent quality.
I need to wrap my D-Lander for its journey home from stockton next week(ish), does anyone knwo where to get those big rolls of industrial slingfilm/shrinkwrap stuff so i can wrap her up nice and snug for the journey?
I also use Hickley Valtone - they have several outlets in the SW
Acid 8 does appear to need spraying - i have both sprayed and brushed and the spray finish was 100% perfect, the brush was carp!
