  1. Thank you for the replies - western do yours spray onto the window now and not just hit the bottom of the blades and is there enough force to feed four nozzles. Regards Frax
  2. Hi can anyone tell me if there is a better way of clearing the windows, the original design is very poor and also very flimsy, my one dropped off today in a lump of ice. This is the second time this has happened to me and they just seem very flimsy made and a bit of a thwack to replace (well the prep work is) Are there any alternatives that are stronger or any mods to get better performance out of them? Wondered if anyone has fitted a bonnet mounted system and if so how did ye get on and what parts were used. Regards Frax
  3. Sounds like UJs to me, I would also check brake pads, I had a set drop through the caliper and landed rubbing on the disk which caused vibration and a clunk when used. Radius are bushes might also be worth looking at. Regards Frax
  4. The smoother the tred the less grip you will get - I am changing from A/Ts to M/T just for this. Regards Frax
  5. Have a look at this - there is a lot of good info and links http://www.lro.com/forum3/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=62459&sid=15563b7b5b3b8399f73993397d0020d4 Regards Frax
  6. It is relatively easy – choke the wheels and jack it up on the chassis and remove the nuts, Sounds easy but the front nuts are a pig to get off, mole grips on the flat on top and bottom of the shocks and pray the nuts move. Give them both a good soak in WD40 before you start and it might just help. Regards Frax
  7. Cut most of the way through with a 1mm cutting disk then try pullers again, a little heat also helps but watch what you heat. I have even left the pullers on all night under tension and in the morning found that the thing has jumped off. If you know any one with hydraulic pullers that will also help. Good Luck - they are a pig to do. Frax
  8. Waxoil outside and inside, get as much in there as you can, I also try to fill the inside with old engine oil. Don’t do this on your drive or in yer garage as it will get all over the place. It is also a good idea to do the waxoil in warm weather . Frax
  9. I need to fit some of these bushes and just wondered how you get them lined up in the correct place, I presume they need to be pressed into place with the front one with the hole in the lowest position and rear at top. I have never fitted these before and would just like some advice. Thank you for all yer help. Frax
  10. Hi I would stick a needle down the washer nozzle and if that fails split the pipe between the pump and nozzle and use an air gun to blow through the nozzle and out the pipe, this will clear any sh*t out of the nozzle and should make sure the section of pipe is clear. Regards Frax
  11. Hi and thank you for all the replies. Regards Frax
  12. My 1985 petrol had a round one and my 300tdi has a box. Frax
  13. Easy - jack the back up as far as possible, pull out spring, remove two bolts and fit riser. refit plate and replace spring. Remember to secure wheels so the thing does not roll when you are under it. Frax
  14. I did the same as Keith Keir - ply covered in carpet, Behind that I fitted 25mm kingspan and glued it to the sided just to keep the noise down and cold out. Did not take long and I think it looks quite good. Frax
  15. Hi and thanks for the replies, the paint was for the outside and I do not stand on the roof. I did not really want it to look like an old Cortina with a vinyl roof with a rough texture but did want a mat black finish and just thought this stuff would be good. Even better if it was smooth though. As for the roof dripping well I don’t know as yet as it has not been fitted yet, My old roof did suffer something terrible with condensation but I removed the headliner and glued on camping mats which did help a lot. I was planning to do the same with this roof before fitting it, I did see that a lot of people seam to have leaking roofs which is I presume through the joints so just though the rubberised paint would seal the outside and be hard wearing and also jive me the colour I require. Ye may be right though and I may just use the normal paint but Challo said it might be good stuff for the inside but at about £75 a pop is an expensive way of doing it. Another thing I was going to look at for insulating the inside was armaflex which has really good insulating properties and also very good sound deadening properties and can be got by the roll. It might also be useful for other areas on the Defender, it has also got a very good temp rating but I need to look into the cost of this stuff. Regards Frax
  16. Why do you not think it would be sutible for a roof adam300Tdi90 ?????????? Frax
  17. I saw something a while back about a company who sold rubberised paint for doing load liners with (or that is what it was designed for) I want to paint my roof in a mat black and wondered if this stuff would be suitable, being rubberised and for load liners I presume it is real hard wearing and would be flexible. Does anyone know what it is called or who the supplier is? Just got hold of a smooth roof so at last I can get rid of the leaking siliconed up useless excuse for a sunroof, even sealed up it just condensates at this time of the year. Regards Frax
  18. I got some from Bolt on Bits on ebay for about £25 what an improvment over the oild units. Regards Frax
  19. I would stick with yer BF A/Ts I have used them for years and think they are a great tyre. Frax
  20. I am not 100% sure but I think it is just voltage electrical, + volts being 12vdc feed and – VE being earth. Regards Frax
  21. Hi Have a look at this http://www.lro.com/forum3/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=61318 I have since fitted so far only one seat - the drivers, It got hold of a couple of Recaro RS 2000 seats. I did have a bit of work to get the runners to fit and I did make up some seat rails which angle the seat a bit more forward. Realy comfy but it is a bit harder to get in and out off due to the high seat sides and I could be done with a step to make things easier. warm and comfy though and fully adjustable. Regards Frax
  22. The front end looks like it was stolen from a ssangyong korando & I hate them. The inside looks like someone has gone nuts with a can of spray paint. Different and I do like different but not ssangyong korando different. Frax
  23. Could be to late but have a look at these on ebay - item No:320618527087 Frax They are not mine.........................
  24. If it was me I would drill a hole at the top front edge of the drivers door, pull door seal down a bit first at keep as close as posible to top edge, feed wires through and down inside piller behind cover. Regards Frax
