yes that does look a bit heavy but I haven't enquired , what I'm after is in the second video, where the saws pivots from vertical to horizontal in seconds, , as you have noted the time when it shows the action best, but this will fitted to a diesel motor, I can't see how it can be fixed straight to each other, please explain, cheers Brian

I know how to build a bandsaw , but after seeing a swing mill saw , I really fancied one of them, especially since I've got all the stuff bar gearbox or whatever method I use. Brian
-
I didn't know if the belts would be up to driving 13hp twisted, plus they would have to be re tensioned every time the blade is repositioned , making for a slower changeover Brian
-
that item on ebay would be perfect, but I didn't what to pay that much, kinda more satisfying when you build some for free, or next to. But as a last resort a good choice. cheers Brian

well I was thinking about making a bandsaw mill, like the Woodmiser, there are lots people have made on youtube, then I saw the swing mill saw, and started drooling, you have to be into things like that to see what I mean. The problem been , pivoting the power. I have everything else, the diesel engine, saw bade, spindle Brian

X-Deflex Anti Sway Bar - Pressure or Vac operated?
Bluemoon replied to simonr's topic in Tools and Fabrication
To actuate it, a schrader valve could be used at a remote place, and activated with a foot pump or even a hand pump(fixed to the gearbox tunnel in the passenger well) at the cheapest end with or without a small air tank, or fill at the garage before going offroad, then upgrade to compressor at a later date, lets face it we all would like one . As the title suggest I'm after a right angle gearbox 1:1, or 1:2, to handle 13hp at about 1500rpm. Here are a few options I've thought of; 1. I was thinking about a small diff from a car( I haven't a clue what reduction they have or what "small" cars have rear diffs)with one side welded. 2. A 2 or 3inch hydraulic hose fixed at both ends, one end to the motor, the other to the shaft 3. 2 18" od wheels set at right angles to each other , one resting on the side wall of the other anyone with experience of the above or ideas, please don't suggest a gearbox that cost hundreds of pounds, cheers Brian

every day is a learning day, ah well back to the drawing table, thanks for the input cheers Brian

ah, I thought the later Discovery2 /Defender td5 110 rear axles were the same apart from the stub axles, unless someone can clarify. ( I was referring to an earlier post of mine a few weeks ago, sorry for that, just typing out loud.) cheers Brian
-
the Defender td5 axle, the reason I wanted to change the stub axles over from mine on to a Discovery 2 axle, do you think it is do'able. TD5 rear axles are a lot of money, and I have a Discovery 2 axle spare. Brian

Is a Discovery rear axle strong enough for a 110 Defender , changing the spring plates for the larger spring, mine has got the Sailisbury axle, and maybe swapping the disc brakes over, just not sure that's all, cheers Brian

having a few landrovers, and trailers needing a high current power source, they will all come in , might even need more Brian

I've just bought an extra 10, for 31.50, good buy. just search for Anderson plug x10 on ebay. can't have too many, always useful. cheers Brian

I have two sankey trailers, both have hydraulic suspension. They are a made a lot stronger than standard. the suspension can be raised or lowered by a hand pump that moves a piston, attached to a cable that goes round a pulley and attaches to the swing arm of the independent suspension. I think the raising and lowering is to facilitate the removable of the towing eye from the pintle when the front leg supports are lowered and locked into position, the suspension is dropped and the tow ring then rasies out of the pintle. there is no jockey wheel or anywhere it could have been. The trailer itself is just a chassis, to which, I think a radar is clamped on, by an elaborate clamping system. The problem been is I have never seen another, in real life or internet, and also no service manuals , just wondering if anyone has any more details on them. Any help would be appreciated. cheers Brian

are the disco2 diffs just bolt on? maybe an easier fix Brian
-
just so I don't have carry two lots of spares, I want to keep all the wheels the same , to match the trailers and other motors . Brian

Just wondering if it was feasible or if anyone had already done it. Using Discovery 2 axles on a Defender 300tdi, but changing the hubs for the existing 300 series. I have been told you cant just swap the hubs for 300series hubs so I was thinking changing the stub axles as well, welding up any bolt holes as required and redrilling new , but don't know about the drive shafts and whether the brake calipers would be reused, and the finer details , anybody with some firm information would be gratefully appreciated . cheers Brian

I've had mine fitted now for about 4 years, for a single tank veg oil conversion. At todays temps you can flatten the battery trying to start with veg oil in the morning , and still put the heater on after that for 15mins and then it starts first time, so obviously doesn't need much power. ( normal procedure is put heater on for 10-15mins and starts first click, running on veg oil). So is better for battery, starter, engine and cabin heat. Mine cost less than 65 quid all in. Heater from scrapyard, (they didn't know what it was), for 15 quid. Remote switch from ebay no; 250607832698 for 13.50 , dosing pump 25 quid, and few fittings for heat exchanger, and now I run about for 40p/litre, ( most I've paid) . Well worth the investment, even if it cost a little more, 150 pound is easily achiveable , if you shop around. Mercs, Rover 75, Jags and others, all depending on spec have them, breakers are looking for about 70-100 quid locally. Even if you have no intention of running on oil, it is so easy and best mod you can do, IMHO. Brian

I would like the boat making please, how much? Brian

if you have paddle mixer , you can spin the mixture in a 1/2 filled drum , nice and fast, so it rides right up the sides for 10 mins, then let it slow down by its self, use next day. Called centrifugal filtering Brian

has anyone any experience of registering a Land Rover from Gibraltar. Just that it is a British sovereignty, and I wondered whether it was classed as an import, or just register new keeper. cheers Brian

tried it today, in too much of a hurry the other day, started first time , big grins, alternator nor charging but I'll see to that. I must admit a V8 does sound nice , after listening to the sound of tdi for a long time. still can't wipe the grin off my face Brian

so is that just connected to the terminals on the coil Brian
