  1. Do you mind me asking what system?

I'm not sure of the manufacture name. It's still developmental at the moment. It was supposed to beat the road angel into the shops but programming issues have held it back. I'll ask around and come back to you.

  2. It's the last round of this year's series on the 11.11.07 things are tight at the top for some....... but not me  so! who's playing??? i'm entered and planning on going out with a bang/win............ hopefully the win but you never know!! :P

    See you all there....

Mine already went bang so won't be playing unfortunately. Have fun y'all!!!

  3. Mines ok as well fitted some LR black wingtops ,one niggle though when turning left or right into a juntion 2nd gear seems to low and 3rd to high ,maybe its because i drive a van during the week and jump in the 110 at weekends

I struggle to adjust to the 07 gearbox because it's not my regular drive. Still no (real) problems with tyhe one i'm running around with at the moment. Only just coming up to it's first k miles though

  4. if anyone knows that i will HAVE to send the stuff by post then please let me know straight away

Oh dear......I think I'm one of these people unless someone on the list is passing through the wilds of Derbyshire on their way north. Unfortunately no trips south planned for some time.

  5. What a superb event. Well done NGCL & AWDC. A cracking site and one I hope we go back to next year.

All was going well for us in the morning until we decided to be the first to try out punches 6&7.......probably not the best idea in the world. Drove and winched out to the punches and then the motor cut out on the way back (the water was around my waist at the time). Surprisingly (after we were recovered) we managed to get all 8 cylinders firing again but the alt wasn't producing enough charge for the winch to pull effectively. This may turn out to be a fish still swimming around in the engine bay :rolleyes: This effectively put an end to our day but managed to trundle around for the rest of the day trying to spot some easy punches until we overheated.

    Found some pics

  6. Anyone else with a 2007 find the air takes quite a while to cool when you switch from hot to cold?

    Yep, found that.

Our's has a heated front windscreen (I'm not sure its needed with the new heater though). The first opportunity to test it was this morning. Guess what................. it doesn't bloody work :angry::angry: . Hi ho hi ho it's back to the dealer I go :blink:

  7. Right a few queries:

    1) Is it worth changing the rear axle in order to fit discs instead of drums?

It depends why you want discs. Is it to fit alloys? Are you current brakes not up to much? Its a relatively easy job if you've got room, space, time and a good range of tools/ jacks. Plus you'll obviously need the replacement axle (late RRC or disco will work)

    2) Gearbox is on its way out methinks, serious hard work engaging gears, sometimes won't engage at all. I presure fitting a new one is expensive and I'm not that hot a mechanic, so will need to get someone to do it for me. If I do, is it possible/feasible to fit a newer 6 speed gearbox, and is it worth doing?

It will definately not be a straight forward job fitting a six speed box as the box and 200tdi will not directly mate. If your considering doing an axle swap, the straight replacement of a gearbox is not that much more involved.

    3) Tractor joint was pooped, replaced it, since then I get an intermittant scraping sound, which has gradually lessened. Is this a bedding in process or was the job done badly.

Tractor joint?? Do you mean CV, A frame ball joint, prop UJ???

    4) Wading plugs and breathers. I have a safari snorkel. What breathers should I extend, with what should I extend them, and where exactly are the plugs I need to put in? These plugs, can they be left there all the time? I expect this has already been covered somewhere in the forums, but a complete novice guide to it would be nice!

All four breathers (front axle, rear axle, gearbox and engine) if you plan on wading. You can buy breather extensions from alot of aftermarket retailers or simply use flexi pipe with push fit connectors. The kits either connect to the existing breathers or put in complete new lines. Extend the breathers as high up as you can (ideally the top of the raised air intake). There are wading plugs for both the bellhousing and the timing cover. Put in before you go off road and take out after clean down. This will allow any fluids/oils to drain out and give you early warnings if you get any ecess oil leaks in these areas.

    5) Door seals. When it rains I get a very wet right knee and foot. Will replacing the seals actually do much?

Welcome to the world of Land Rover. Replacing seals may reduce the leakage. No Landy is 100% waterproof though.

  8. as Tony said though WALKING boots, arent M4s a snow and ice boot? Besides in my experience Ice climbing boots are OK for driving in as long as they aren't plastic ones you just used to the steel shank sole, as you say though not an ideal choice!

M4's are C2 crampon compatible and as such have a semi stiffened sole. For me, not ideal for driving in. Scarpa's are a really good boot, but generally a modern synthetic/ leather mix with a waterproof membrane will outperform a leather boot in their longevity and ability to withstand water ingress for a prolonged amount of time. They also tend to be lighter.

Personally I'd recommend these although you can get them in full nubuck leather too here. These are my regular hill wear and live in my landy for call outs. They cope with everything except full on winter conditions (not regular occurances these days)

Alot of people also swear by Raichle or Salomon. I've never tried Raichle and personally Salomon boots are too narrow around the ball of the foot for me.

  9. did this several years ago because the glass ones were **** and the source of all my electrical problems. tried celaning and stuff, but its just ahlf measure, much better to change to blade fuse type.

to do so you need 2 of these http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-...photo/fbb8u.jpg , which just about fit in the space vacated by the glass fuse holders, will need filed a bit. then you need a big old bag of crimp female blades and then clip off each and methodically replace, bob's your uncle, and it shouldn't take too long.

result is reliable fuses, and also you get a few extra spaces as a bonus.

I did exactly the same on an early 110 I owned. I prefered to use the pre-insulated heatseal terminals (like these) when re-splicing everything.

The change over of fuse holders cured a couple of the elecy faults I'd been having trouble with tracing for some time.

  10. X-eng (simonr on here) used to do body sliders. I was really pleased with the set I bought for my last 90 some time ago. Unfortunatley they don't do them anymore but if you can find some secondhand, snap them up.

Alternatively Paddocks have started supplying them although I've not seen any feedback on the quality.
