I used some stuff that was in the clearance bin at halfrauds to do the rear side windows on the disco.:
to keep this cool and to stop prying eyes:
A second pair of hands is definately useful when it comes to removing the film from the backing before applying. As is alot of patience when it comes to squeezing out the bubbles. My first attempt at tinting wasn't perfect but I've now got the confidente to have a stab at the rear window. For that I'll be using 'Limo film' from screwfix. Time will tell if its any good or not.

out of interest was there any mention of how the olympics be taxed? in an extra special way to offset the volume of "Happy-planet" concrete used in building the stadia? will the competitors be arriving in carbon neutral dolphin friendly dug-out canoes? Ive not seen the plans yet but Im assuming East London will be regenerated by using crack teams of Vegan lesbian commune builders using wattle and daub building techniques in a non-religous manner? Im looking forward to an all inclusive carbon neutral games with no spectators that havent walked there and can prove it - yay!
Damn, just spat coffee all over the keyboard

The CyberKeys worked flawlessly, the event finished at 4:00pm and the results were finished at 4:12pm, what more could you ask for?
The new philosophy also worked well although I would admit that things were a little too tight in places, we will review this in future.
The punches were time consuming and difficult - but not dangerous which is what we are aiming for
Thanks to Adrian Turner and Dave Herrington for helping us out of a tight spot at very short notice, it is very much appreciated.
Event results are now available
Nice to see some of the 'Top 10' coming to have a look
Big thanks to all the marshalls whose efforts meant we were off site by 5:30 despite 3km of rope and bunting to fetch in
Sounds like another top event. A bit gutted to have missed it. I'm going to take the plunge and book in for the next round. (Form will be in the post tomo Neil). Better get the truck sorted.

thank you it was working fine i put it on worked for approx 3 secs and then just stopped. How do I check power getting to it. sorry for all the questions........
You will need to attach a multimeter to the terminals on the heater. There should be a 12v feed direct from the fuse board (purple and green I think) and two other wires (grey with a trace colour, but I can't remember which ones which) that control the speed of the fan. These two terminals should show a decent feed when the switch is in the on position.

hi there i have a discovery 1 and the blower has just stopped working (give up the ghost) has ne1 got ne ideas on wot I should be looking for please.......................
Firstly check the fuse. If the fuse is OK check that there is a power reaching the motor with the switch on

Hi,
iv just got an 8274 for my hybrid however it hasn't got a rope as the guy is taking the dynema off.
Iv never this winch before in great details and was wondering what size wire i should put back on it just whilst i gather some funds and pay some rent at uni before i buy some rope or should i just not bother paying 20 for wire and just save for the rope, I Know it is alot more safer but i realistically won't be using it heavily for a few more years i think.
There some new 9mm wire of a warn on the bay for £15
Cheers
James
James,
I've got a roller fairlead and 9mm originally from my 8274. Yours for a tenner.
Dave

It's a 36mm spanner but I used the old method of cold chisel and hammer. It comes off anti-clock wise from front of engine. Just a light tap was required.
Where abouts are you and what specialist did you use?
I'm in Falkirk, Central Scotland
Graeme
I'm located near Matlock, Derbyshire. A bit of a trip from you!!! I used DLS.

Dave
It still sounds like the thermostat because there is a spring loaded bypass valve in the housing that's closed below 1500rpm to direct the coolant through the heater matrix only to promote faster warm up. When I changed my thermostat a couple of weeks ago it cured my heater problems.
I'm going to gather the parts for the head gasket and do it asap. Did you do yours or was it a garage and what was the costs if you don't mind me asking??
Graeme.
I'm considering changing the thermostat again, but I'll wait until Ive checked the rest of the hoses for blockages and I've got a spanner for the viscous fan. It's a real pain in the arse to do with the fan on.
I had to put it into a local specialist as the workshop is taken up with the hybrid I'm building at the mo. The costs were going to be around £600 but with a second hand head, machining time and 2 lots of pressure testing it was over twice that.......ouch

Dave,
As I said in my last post, heater working fine after changing thermostat but have other symptoms now!!
I get alot of pressure in the top radiator hose and a low level in my coolant expansion tank. When I release the cap the water level comes back up, but lower than it started. I put a small plastic bottle on the expansion tank overflow and have been catching water. So far the pattern seems to be, I catch water after a motorway journey of 65+mph, but not when running around town. The top hose is pressurised every time!! I am tending towards the first signs of headgasket failure although there is no water in oil or vics versa and no steam/ coolant in the exhaust.
Anyone any thoughts??
Graeme.
Graeme, I had similar symptoms until I was towing a heavy trailer up a steep hill. The temp guage needle shot up into the red, the car stutterred and then the temp went back to normal. The water usage got worse and I decided to get the head gasket done. Unfortunately for me, when the head was pressure tested, cracks were found in the diesel galleries (£££££££ )
The problems with the heater matix have occured since the head was done so I'm confident there's no head gasket issue now. (Plus my header tank is now not pressurising and water usage is minimal)

put the bodge one back on... )
It's not off yet!! Busy building the new axle on the bench before putting it on the vehicle.
Is it going to ready in time????????I imagine its gona be ready before Adrians now.. as it be dead at the mo. DOH.
Well, I'm planning on being ready for April. If all goes well I should make it. I get evicted from the garage in three weeks (a week of which I'm away ice climbing ) but I hope to have all of the heavy work done by then. The axle is the last major change.
Adrian sounds like he's got some real fun on his hands. The results will be interesting though.

Dragging this thread back to the top.......
I'm in the process of fitting a FIA approved switch like Tonys, but for a 3.5 v8 EFI. The wiring diagram shows feeds required to go from the additional poles on the back of the switch (which I presume is a relay) to the coil and ignition switch. Anyone got any any ideas which poles on the coil and ignition to connect to???? I preseme they should be specific???

Right then, I've changed the thermostat (which was a nightmare becuase I hadn't got a tool to remove the viscous fan) and I've still got heater problems.
I removed the pipes going to and from the heater matrix yesterday to ensure that there was a flow of coolant through the matrix with the engine running. There was only a small trickle going through to start with, but as soon as I released the expansion tank cap slightly I got a good flow.
My temporary fix is that I'm now running around with the expansion tank cap not fully tight. I'm getting some warmth through the heater, but there is a significant improvement when revved over 1800.
Has anyone got any thoughts??
Water pump on its way out perhaps???

I'm going to have to drag this tread back to the top again.
The stub axle shown (FTC1740) does not fit (easily) onto the late 110 axle casing. Can anyone advise (with diagram showing the rest of the stub axle to hub components if possible) of the correct part number for the stub axle for this casing.
I'm trying desperately to get the case together and on the vehicle before Friday.

Are well, i'll just have to use the (new) silverstones then!
Where/ when did you get them then. They seem to be like rocking horse poo at the mo!!! (What you doing with the old ET's)
-
Paddocks is just down the road from me and I always use their parts counter. I find the staff freindly and knowledgeable and have never had reason to complain. Admitedly the mail order service may be a completely different matter.

Sorry for being late, was compliling my CV & a job application letter -- hopefully I'll be moving up the ladder at work, anyway back to LR stuff
EPC only tells me these---------
gasket RTC1139 for 110/130 Salisbury rear axle
gasket 7316 for Diff assembly to chassis number KA930455
if Microcat doesn't list one then I suspect it uses a silicone sealant probably STC611 ----- HYLOMAR 2000 as used on 200Tdi sump/ladder frame.
HTH
Well, I went for a generic RTV sealant. Time will tell

dave you entered????
Not yet, I'm thinking about it though

Competed against him at Santa's......i think he got 5/6 punch's over the two day's! he spent most of the time worry'in about getting dirt in side the cab!
That makes two of you then

Silverstone do a copy and its NOT a remould.
Silverstone's aren't available at the moment and Bronco haven't got a supply timescale either
-
hopefully my driver will have the stamina to keep flicking the switch for the winch and also keep pushing down the go pedal - we may have a chance.
For that you've got to have a working vehicle, which I understand is about as close to working as mine is at the mo
She hasn't let you out for another weekend surely???
-
I've looked on my microcat and it doesn't show a gasket... well, not that i can find.
maybe just some silicone gasket stuff will do the job?
Thats the conclusion I was starting to come to.
-
Can anyone give me the part no for the diff gasket for a late 110 axle (post salisbury). I've trawled through all of my stuff and can't seem to find it. It's definately different to the standard rover diff gasket (3916???)

I went alongfor a few hours and had a good look round. Met PeterGG (as I was picking some bits up from him) had a very brief chat with GBMUD (the x-eng stall was manic with customers when I got there) and spoke to a couple of guys from the AWDC challenge series. I managed to pick up a few bits too. There were some really nice motors both inside and outside the hall. I kept being drawn to the protection and performance stand for some reason though.....mmmmmmm hotpants
