  1. Have made a donation via PayP@l. Maybe a future enhancement could be an acknowledgement that a payment has been received?
  2. So far, Adrian Flux seem to have come up with the goods. On a Q plated V8 hybrid, with a list of mods running to 2 sides of A4, my biggest problem was defining the base vehicle The cover includes "off road" and the fact that my no-claims is accrued on my daily driver. £225 doesn't hurt too much... There's always a but though- so far my dealings have been over the phone/ web. Having sent in the spec in writing, I'm awaiting the call for an engineers report.
  3. Wondering how long something like this would work after being immersed in slurry. Seems to cover almost everything and would mean that I could throw away most of the tangled mess that is my current (NPI) dash.
  4. Wish I could Adrian- The Mongrel is currently waiting patiently for a rebuilt engine to be dropped in, which is currently sitting on an engine stand waiting for a final checkover, but thanks for the info. Will search for some info on Gnarly Laners though. Many thanks for the info. Mark
  5. Still sitting in the corner, Rest my case...
  6. Appreciate the manual workload to monitor/ maintain posts and indeed the need to do so. Wondering what you might be protecting the forum from though. Maybe some of us new posters would just like to be accepted and be able to meet like minded people without being artificially blocked for days/ weeks. Scan back to my thoughts at the start of this thread...
  7. Ever thought how long it takes for newbies to be allowed to post on without being moderated? 2 weeks on, owned frustrating LR, maybe a couple of days might have filtered out the unwashed/ unwanted. Goes back to my views on this being mainly focused on a club for old hands. Let in the newbies.... Not only getting my coat, putting it on, but running away- bravely
  8. That's why I said bead, rather than my initial thought- rim
  9. Being new here and prepared to try new techniques, I've just spent 20 minutes applying a Mum roll-on to my bead and attempting to ignite it. End result- nothing apart from a pile of spent Swan Vestas.
  10. Don't fight it- with the wife and kids onside you've already won far more battles than most here could dream of
  11. Speaking as a mere tyrolichus casei, the forums can be a daunting place for a newcomer. I speak (type) from the perspective of being a caseus vetus on other forums where, by virtue of longevity, I've been frustrated by answering the same newbie questions and the apparent lack of research before posting. (enough of the latin cheese references (too much g##gling] now and, hopefully, more to the point). We live in an instant gratification society now. g**gle has sold the benefits of a complex and comprehensive search engine to the masses. On lr4x4 you have to dig deep and search to find answers. So who has the patience to do that? Result- same old questions. My point is that there are 2 cultures here. The old hands, where this is a social network, and the newbies, where they've fallen into LR ownership by choice or accident. Both parties have to be catered for. The old hands want to both socialise and to pass on their hard gained experience- hopefully just the once, and the newbies, with a smouldering heap outside the house that may result in a divorce, want to get it on the road ASAP. Bottom line is that both sides need each other. The social side "keeps it real", the guidance side brings people in and gives them a sense of belonging and a chance to move up to maybe being a caseus vetus (sorry- cheese ref again) one day. Just my thoughts- getting my coat and hiding in the corner waiting for a slap.
  12. Just joined the forum and thought I'd say hello. Returning to Land Rover ownership after a few years. Previous affairs with a 3.5 Disco and a yellow 2.25 Lightweight S3. In a moment of Eb*y madness I've just acquired a hybrid RR chassied, 3.5 efi (flapper) engined, Defender mashed with S3 bodied collection of parts designed to drive in loose formation, with the added capability of built in weight saving by shedding parts, fluids etc autonomously whilst moving. Pleasantly surprised by the fuel consumption so far. Achieved an astonishing 114 mpg bringing it back from SW19 to Devon. I suppose some of the credit should go to the AA for recovering it from Fleet Services on the M3 I'm interested in finding diverse ways of getting it muddy and knocking lumps off it close (ish) to home so if any of you out there have any ideas, I'd be happy to hear them. Off to carry on the diagnostics now. Saved the best till last (compression test) and am fully expecting to have to drop another lump into it. Next post will likely be in the Wanted section for a low mileage manual V8 At least I got the screen washers working today- have to prioritise my time... Nice talking Mark
