  1. Thanks Western, mine is a 90, so I'd just get the 90 station wagon springs?
  2. Thanks all. That's probably the reason, mine has the hard top springs I believe, so station wagon ones would help. Would you go for land rover original springs or not? Along with ome dampers it should help a lot. * re read westerns post, looks like ome all round then!
  3. Defenders don't have the most luxurious floating on air ride quality... Can the quality be improved much? With new springs and/or dampers? And is it cost effective? Would love to hear from someone that has done something like this, cheers.
  4. Could it be the damper or bushes? Maybe need to get it up on a ramp and waggle things around... I'm learning to ignore all the weird noises before I end up more paranoid with each pot hole.
  5. I've already got a Defender, but decided I also want a Lightweight, maybe a V8 one as fuel consumption isn't a big issue on something that'll be kept in a garage most it's life and mainly used at weekends... There seems to be some good buys around, I've seem a few on autotrader described as original condition or full rebuilds for about 5k, Seems good value for money for something that should last many years! My experience only stretches to Defenders, is there anything I should look out for or go for, with a Lightweight? And is this the right section? Wasn't sure if they're classed as a series III or military. Cheers
  6. Thanks Western, I think its probably the park switch.
  7. Sounds similar to my problem. Half the journey they were fine and the second half they are too low, which is where they are parked.
  8. She'd probably like it with her growing Land Rover interest We should post pictures of our finished models, see who does the best job!
  9. I'm going to get the twin pack, then me and other half can make one each. Do you think she'll enjoy that
  10. Does anyone else have problems with their wipers stopping in different positions? One of my wipers was lower than the other, then it started hitting the metal below the windsreen, so I go a screwdriver, popped it off and positioned it the same as the other. It was fine for a while, now both are hitting the rubber seal! Should I pop them both off and postion them a bit higher? Or is it a sign the mechanism is on its last legs? cheers
  11. Can you buy the hinge to take the pin out, or are they a sealed unit? If so I'll see where I get adjusting the existing hinge, thanks.
  12. Thanks, I'll give that a go first.
  13. Thanks Western. I'll try changing the hinge pins and hope this is enough. I didn't want to change the hinges themselves because they're matching colour!
  14. Wondering the best way to deal with a slighlty dropped drivers door, that lifts a few mm as it hits the door closer. Is it possible to adjust it, or is it a sign the hinges are worn? And if so, is it better to put new hinges on or would just changing the hinge pins do the job? Cheers.
  15. The extra they charge for stripping down, does this include window removal or would that be the 4k option for show room finish? How much can panels be repaired before it's better to just replace them, some of the dents on mine are fairly big, worst maybe knocked in an inch. Luckily with this type of vehicle the odd dent doesn't matter, so I keep pushing off the idea of having it sprayed, but plan to do a more thorough job when I get to it.
  16. Thats a relief, I had wondered about the cloud of smoke, doesn't help with the 4x4 environmental image...
  17. Big difference in comfort? Its an upgrade I just may do
  18. Jack is a good idea. I usually try a bit if heat, then constantly tighten/loosen method
  19. All fixed was the earth! Reconnected the indicators which aren't original, just need to wrap some eliectrical tape around the connection so it doesn't dodgy again.
  20. Don't say that :(It still seems oily, although maybe I imagined more whine, but maybe just more focused on it.
  21. haha thanks Gromit, I'll fill it up again before it moves another inch. I definitely plan to do more myself!
  22. Sorry I just need to moan a little... After spotting a spot of oil under the Defender at work, I got it home and crawled under it to find no sump plug in the transfer box! This is 2 months after a full service, so either they forgot to tighten it or its some how worked its way loose? I only hope its not done too much damage
  23. Thanks for all the advice, just waiting for the multimeter and will then have a poke around at weekend. And will check the loom.
