  1. I'll be doing this myself soon, so some handy advice on here!
  2. do to a breakers and get a second hand door, then paint it the right colour A door shouldn't be any more than £50 from a decent breakers And on the quotes, there might be a reason why the place that is quoting highly has a nice clean glitzy workshop.... astrinomical prices that insurance companies won't argue with
  3. I've already re-trimmed it with black PVC (couldn't afford leather!) so just need to make it more rigid before I put it back in. Think the fiberglass resin idea is the winner so far!
  4. it's worth considering what it'll do to the tow bar height to. When I lifted my last one 2" I found my twin axle trailer now sat at a daft angle and the front wheels only just brushed the road. I ended up having to get a custom drop plate made up to get it back to the right height. You don't really notice when you're driving, but the girlfriend certainly noticed the first time she tried to get in it Again I was running standard props, steering bars and brake lines with no issues
  5. It's not quite a farm hack, and I'm trying to make it look nice as I plan to take it to a few car shows next year for something a bit different to the Impreza I normally take I've already taken the headlining out (enged up smashing most of the clips as I had to pull them out with vice grips!) so putting glue on first wouldn't be a problem. I thought the roof sat against the central bar on the roof and didn't actually touch the flat outer skin? Would putting glue on just the support be enough?
  6. I can see a caravan, mini clubman, series defender of some sort and what looks like a garden shed!
  7. the whole thing is droopy, but seems to be solid apart from that. I have a feeling it's been very damp at some point
  8. it's a shocking price for what you get, but they look so much better with the right stickers on them than Dymo labels lol
  9. that's a step in the wrong direction if ever I saw one
  10. Hi guys I'm having some serious saggy front headlining issues in my new Defender... it looks in ok condition, but of late it has started to touch my head while driving it's getting so low. I was thinking about drilling some more holes in the centre roof support and adding more of those push in plastic holders - as they seem to be impossible to get out! Would that work or can anyone suggest anything else? Ta much in advance!
  11. I'm still quite tempted by one of these, if nothing else than to fix my seriously saggy roof in a functional way! I'll be keeping an eye out for updates
  12. My Defender has a Disco engine in it and has a nearly idential switch! I spent ages tryingto work out what it did, I can hear a relay somethere clicking in the engine bay. Best guess is that it's some sort of cold starting switch to warm the glow plugs up
  13. I'm sure I went up there with the SLROC when it was under a foot fo fresh snow lol Need to look into this club, it looks like fun. As long as it's not the same 2mph nose to tail format of the SLROC
  14. I did something similar with my old 90 last year when the M8 was shut just outside Livingston. A Tesco artic truck got stuck half way up the slip road and my little 90 with rediculously wide BF Goodrich ATs on it dragged up right up the hill and onto the roundabout! For anyone that knows the Deerpark junction it's alot steeper than it looks
  15. I got a brand new massive Maglite torch with my first Defender that I found under the drivers seat With this one the owner flung in 4 Bose waterproof speakers that he was going to fit, and it turns out they actually sound really good wired up to a decent head unit
