  1. top of the morning to ye all hope ye enjoy the bronze green guinness today, i'm just having the one pint meself
  2. it had nothing to do with me but it does sound rather democratic, has the scrapiron topic been on other forums? if so has it lasted there?
  3. looks good, did you buy it?
  4. sorry, it's sold already, i told you it was a good one!
  5. There's a good 2.5td for sale in Armagh for £100, the owner is starting work in Dublin next week too, let me know if you want the details.
  6. as long as the Design Gross Weight is above 3500kg it is mot & tax exempt as it falls into a different mot class which has an exemption for "working" fire engines. the DGW for a standard series fire engine is unlikely to get that high so they would only be tax exempt, but you will be ok with a forward control (don't know about the rangy 6 wheelers) Not sure about the definition of a "working" fire engine but the only time i've heard of police intervening was when they found someone driving around in an ex fire service transit van and was still claiming the tax exemption, so i think you should be ok with a real fire engine. p.s. welcome to the wonderful world of fire engines, you can bring your engine along to any show in the tattiest of states and still people will look at more than all those other boring classic vehicles, just keep an eye out for the kids who think they have an automatic right to climb onto the roof just cos it has a ladder
  7. I may have to give up this site as its now blocked from work , apparently it contains pornography well thats what the computer said and i've just been surfing round and still haven't found it!!!
  8. you may not be over the hill(billy) but you certainly have a good view !!!!
  9. here's my favourite pic of my old zebra 110 in the wilderness of ireland
  10. bought the YELLOW paint today so theres no going back now
  11. have sourced a set of nearly new standard springs and shocks at a reasonable price so will give the paras a miss for now
  12. its not the bullet holes i worry about, just the bullet that make em
  13. but if i paint it nato green i won't be needin the fake bullet holes any more!!!
  14. had a look at the other one again and now i'm not sure, like the smaller community feeling here but i get the feeling that the other will be better technically (i mean for forum features not just the archives and technical advice) all a bit confusing anyway but i'm sure time will tell, bit irrevelant as difflock is the best forum anyway (oops, i shouldn't have said that ) so how many land rover forums are there anyway? someone must have a link page to them all.
  15. never did post much on the other forum so i'll keep watching both but here does seem nice
  16. one little problem with the nato green though, it doesn't look very yellow
  17. coincidently i have that very same magazine sitting beside my pc, i'm hoping to paint my s3 something similar next week to get rid of that 'orrible blue. I've decided to go with yellow instead of that ****ty sandglow colour, it may look good on the camel trophy vehicles but always seems to look carp on any dodgey replicas, and believe me, mine will be dodgey
  18. is there a website with engine id decodes, if so could someone place a link here please
  19. have you considered changing to 11 inch drums off the stage 1 or one tonner, they do a very good job at stopping my fire engine which is nearly 3 tonnes! but then again i don't go that fast in it
  20. here's some pics of mine articulating with standard springs although the springs are quite soggy
  21. no, you're not listening i don't want mil colours or shiny stuff, just want to know which is the hardest wearing of the paints so i can bounce my wee landy off the the walls, i don't mind the odd dent or 3 but don't want big scrapes down the side showing that 'orrible blue so is it enamel and if so which type of enamel, i never know paint could be so confusing
  22. i'm about to repaint the series 3 (oh i hate that blue) and i'm looking for something easy to put on (brush/roller) and preferably not too glossy. It's gonna be used a lot going through bushes, trees and the odd wall so i want something hard wearing. the expert in the shop suggests tractor enamel do you concur? [note: don't want a military paint - might get shot at!]
  23. i'm not getting rid of mine 'cos it cost me a hundred quid (although it did come with free roof )
  24. my friend had one on his disco (tmax 11000) , went very well, pulled a few land rovers out of the gloop one after the other on a few occasions, never any bother with it........... then it broke, now its away for repair
  25. Hi Mandy, don't think i've met Basil before but i will try to seek him out in the pursuit of spreading your love
