  8. i love it when people make such bold statements
  9. prob with that is if i go portal i belive u can convert them to land rover wheel fitment then i would like to run my beadlocked mach 5s i got
  10. dont think so i think there all between swivel and stub axle but no expert and you can probably tell
  11. thanks for the help FF i might give portals a go
  12. i knew it would come across wrong lol. right let me try again. the distance from the swivel ball to the wheel studs isnt this much greater on a portal axle then a land rover axles so rather then just turning on the spot doesnt it do more of a swing so say if you lock it to the right the wheel will go more backward and push the tyre more toward the outrigger? dose this make more sense? if not ill try a drawing next lol
  13. is there many portals around atm? the thing that worries me about portals is wont they swing the wheel back more so more likely hit out riggers? im planing on mooving axles forward a couple of inches but dont want to be more then a couple of inches (hope you understand where im coming from) portals do sound nice!
  14. long way off atm but just wondering if anybody got a ball park figure of how much a set of spider9 axles complete with shafts arbs etc would cost? i want to run 38" boggers but dont have lots of money to throw at it but dont want to break everything just wondering if its worth considering or isit out of my budget thanks in advance
  15. thanks for that, but i have read that a 300tdi defender sit further forward due to gearbox being longer (by about 5inches if i remember correctly) so is a LT77 defender gearbox shorter then a r380 which is the same size as a auto? which would make a 200tdi auto fit in a 300tdi chassis? i think i will give them a ring again tomorrow and see if i can speak to the guy
  16. i am planing on having a custom chassis made but im sure ive read (on here) that to fit a auto to a 200tdi defender you can move the engine forward to a 300tdi defender position? and a auto will fit on a 300tdi defender without any chassis mods? could be wrong thou
  17. phoned richards chassis today not sure the woman i spoke to knew what a land rover was let alone the info i need it was hard enough getting info for a custom chassis after that i couldnt be bothered asking anything else
  18. im looking at getting a richards chassis and building a 110 200tdi auto my question is if im fitting a auto to a 200tdi what chassis do i get am i right in thinking i will need a 300tdi chassis as the engine sits further forwards then a 200tdi so will be in the right position to fit a auto to a 200 without having to drill more holes in new chassis thanks
  19. thanks for that will these be tall enough thought it would be better to have tall ones?
  20. thanks for the quick reply any advice on what size would be best
  21. im looking at gettin a chassis to build up but want advice on the best axles stands to use how many to get (do i only need 4 or will i need/do with more) thanks
