  1. If it didn't make a noise before fitting the new plugs I would say it's something to do with them are you sure you have fitted the correct plugs , are they all tight & have not cross threaded one (easy to do ) causing compression blow by which will sound like a loud ticking noise do the plugs have sealing washers or are they taper seats I can't remember long time since I worked on a Rover V8 if washer are they all fitted if tapered seat are they all clean (no grit)
  2. I thought all the bolts on Disco's are metric but I could be wrong
  3. Might get a better response if you post in the request for a part number section
  4. Is this of any use to anyone just found it on e bay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Replacement-Wheelarch-Panel-Land-Rover-Discovery-1-5-dr-Nearside/261307175086?_trksid=p1.m2287&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D156%26meid%3D2139045295289335794%26pid%3D100070%26prg%3D1087%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D181238094279%26%26clkid%3D2139053229808575805&_qi=RTM1342313
  5. Well I now have a coolant leak from the dam 'P' gasket oh well 2 new gaskets ordered of the bay should be here on Tuesday 22nd with a bit of luck
  6. Well new stat fitted not had chance to run it properly but it seems better just on tickover it warmed up quicker, I have removed the viscous fan as it has a lot of play in the viscous coupling so now I need to source one of those for the summer as I tow a caravan & don't want to risk it over heating
  7. Thanks for that CwazyWabbit it is in deed an R380 in that case
  8. Thanks guys I'll try the stat but I'm not going to hold my breath that it will cure things
  9. It's a 300 TDi & I know it's not advisable to leave any engine on tick over for long periods but this is like when you stop in traffic for long periods (M25 type traffic) the temp drops maybe I shouldn't be complaining but in the winter it's a pain in the bum Maybe I need a radiator muff for the winter months
  10. Hi Nigel I can understand where your coming from with the stat But if the stat was faulty it would never warm up but it does & it stays warm unless it's allowed to tickover for a while even in the high temperatures we had during the summer months it was the same Looks like I may have to remove the fan
  11. Hi I have a Disco 1 with the 300TDi engine & now that winter is on it's way I've noticed unlike the cars I have owned in the past the heater does not warm up if let to tickover in the morning at 5.30am it warms up fine when you drive & the temp gauge never goes above half way even in hot weather once the vehicle is warmed it's fine unless you let it tickover for a while then the temp gauge drops & the heater cools down any ideas. I should maybe mention it still has the viscous fan fitted
  12. So without crawling under My Disco is there anyway of working out if I have a LT77 or R380 box I have a 300TDi Disco 1 1995 reg but I been told it's a 96 spec
  13. Never thought of powder coating was thinking of anodizing but like you say could be cheaper to buy new I found this stuff on flea bay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170751483667&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en
  14. Don't know where else to ask this Boring as it may sound I have made a set of side steps for my Disco1 & I used silver checker plate that I already had in the shed Is there a way of turning silver checker plate black other than painting it
  15. Have you tried Maplins & the green bulbs in my Disco 1 300 TDi are just a rubber cover over the bulbs
  16. If on a Disco1 When you have the dash out check for rust in the lower corners of the screen caused by lack of seam sealer
  17. Can anyone tell me the part number for the Land Rover badge that fits on the front grille of a 1995 Disco 1 300TDi many thanks Jim Day
  18. FridgeFreezer you defo need to get out more mind you I can do the same with wiring colours/pin number for a 7 pin towbar socket
  19. They let water in through the bottom corners of the screen where the body seams are no longer sealed up cos the sealer cracks after time letting the water in it then runs down the inner kick panel & under the carpet http://smg.photobucket.com/user/jimday/media/Disco%20Photos%201/141.jpg.html'> http://smg.photobucket.com/user/jimday/media/Disco%20Photos%201/142.jpg.html'> Easier to see with the dash facia removed
  20. Teabag mine were the same colour as yours when I got them but they were flaking paint plus had some corrosion so I refurbed them myself & just didn't bother with the silver rim This is what they looked like when I got them I got the name of my wheels from this thread http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=53665&hl=%2Bboost+%2Balloys about four post down by 'cipx2'
  21. Hi BogMonster yes as far as I know the paint is original paint code is 424 it needed a lot of TLC to get it to look like it does. I put the VIN into the checker that "western" suggested above & it came up with the MY of 1996, the V5C has it as first registered 01/08/95 Thanks to everyone else for their input So I have a Base Model how boring LOL, I really must get a LR badge for the front grille looks a bit naff without one could do with one for the rear door handle/number plate as that one has been damaged I believe the Alloys I have on it now are Free Style/Tornado rims Jim
  22. Cheers for that "Western" how the heck did I miss the 'A' out of it have been to the link & printed the info but it still does tell me what trim / model it is ie ES etc which is what I'm trying to find out
  23.
