  1. I'm in the market for some tree sliders for a 90. Every single company do them. Varying quality, fit , design and price. None of them have any detailed photos up on the web so it's impossible to tell any difference. Any recommendations?
  2. Wow, the Aussie ones are coming in at under 200 with todays exchange rate. I've been on that site before drooling over gear at cheap prices. @honitonhobbit - thanks but I'm not a fan of the Brownchurch style roof racks. I know they are solid, but they are an eyesore.
  3. Hey, that SP one looks very promising! I don't mind 250 for it. So what's the difference between that one and one £1,000 more??
  4. Not sure where you have seen the 200 quid ones. The ones I've seen are in the 900-1400 range. That feels like an awful lot of money for what it is. I haven't seen anything in the 500 range, am I just looking in the wrong places so?
  5. I was toying with the idea of getting a roof rack for a few duties. But they are really expensive. Considering there doesn't seem to be that much to them. There doesn't seem to be that much metal in them and there are is no fancy equipment needed to build them. What makes them so expensive, the size and the cost of shipping them around or what am I missing? I will be able to meet me needs with roof bars instead but I'm just curious.
  6. I might try one so if you think it will work. My worry is it will be listen only and the built-in mic won't work with something plugged in to the jack.
  7. That's a 2 pin system. The Motorolas only have a single pin you see..
  8. Something like this? http://www.icomuk.co.uk/categoryRender.asp?categoryID=3761&productID=1223&tID=938 I think that will make it listen-only. I have both the regular headset that comes with the units and we tried the throat mics as well. The headset which comes with the unit is not loud enough either. It's pretty poor to be honest. The throat mic works well but is quite uncomfortable. I can't get used to it...
  9. We are using Motorola T80 walkie talkies. They are not loud enough inside a Defender. Do anyone know of any external loudspeaker that can be used in conjunction with walkie talkies. I need to be able to talk as well so I think it may need a microphone or else any plugged in loudspeaker will make it a listen only jobby. (single pin system)
  10. The mono-lita was delivered - and promptly installed. Proper geared up for a fight I was almost a bit disappointed the old wheel just came right off. As in, just right off! Anyway! The steering wheel itself is beautifully made and finished. It really feels like a quality product. Being used to the standard wheel I feel it's a small bit thin but ask me again in a few weeks time when used to it and I'm sure it feels natural. There are a few problems though. Annoyingly nothing to do with the steering wheel itself. 1) The center cover, a plastic cover, doesn't look to bad. But it has a round Land Rover insert. The problem is the insert is ca 0.5mm larger in diameter than the hole so in the box it had fallen off and when I reattached it I noticed it won't actually fit into the recessed hole properly but sits at an angle. 2) The boss is pretty tall so the steering wheel is sticking out a good bit making the indicator stalk just within reach, but uncomfortably so. A shorter boss is needed. 3) The screws attaching the wheel to the boss just aren't nice. I've a black wheel and the boss and trim is black but the colour is partly scratched off the screws. The bolts on the back aren't covered either so if you feel around the wheel you scratch off the back of the screws. Really a bit of a shame. All these issues are with the boss and not the wheel. I couldn't be happier with the wheel but the boss and the boss components are seriously letting the wheel down.
  11. Yup. Ebay is rarely the cheapest these days. Not for items with a genuine, solid value. If you are looking for Chinese knock-offs then yea, sure! When I had to buy a new MAF sensor last I found my local LR dealership much cheaper than ebay.
  12. At an event once a fella had spacers on and the bolts obviously had come loose. Going up a hill with a bit of wheel spin when the tyre found grip the spacer just disintegrated. I promised myself that day I'd never use spacers. But more to the point. It was a quick and effective way of removing a wheel....
  13. Excellent - Answers that. My battery is probably just borderline so, working half the time.
  14. I don't know - but I would be very interested in this as my lights sometimes flash and sometimes don't as of late. Could explain it...
  15. Ok, I have ordered a 15" moto-lita. They also caught me for one of their new LED interior lights. Will have to see when it gets here. Hopefully before Christmas!
  16. A second remote is obviously a good idea. I just don't have one. I have the EKA code though! Mine are like that, I have to be right next to the car before it will register. If there is a lead just hanging out I might see if I can locate it and extend it. Maybe up the A pillar would make the most sense.
  17. This has always bothered me but I've never got around to actually look at it. The alarm fob (plipper) has very poor range. It's the standard one for the AS10 unit. If I hold it against my head I get a bit better reach but still not very much. I only have one plipper so I don't know if the problem is at the plipper end or at the car end. Is there an areal or something in the car? Anyone else had this problem? What resolved it for you?
  18. I think I want the moto-lita 15" steering wheel. It's a bit more than I wanted to spend but I think I like that one the best. Will mud-stuff do a sale soon...?
  19. An 89 - Is that a type A steering wheel? http://www.web-rover.co.uk/nav.php?p=articles/steeringwheels I'm in the market for a type B. If it's a type B you have there and would be able to stick it in the post I might be interested. cheers!
  20. I have a regular steering wheel on the 110, not the "airbag" version. It's terribly worn out and I'm thinking of replacing it. Was forst looking at getting a steering whel cover but haven't found anything that doesn't look like a halford-special. A brand new OEM steering wheel is around £60 from ebay. But I have been looking at the after market ones as well. I'm just not willing to pay the ~400 the Startech steering wheels are going for. With that in mind, are there any other nice after market steering wheels about? I've seen a few nice ones ut they have been pretty expensive. The heaper ones... well they look damn cheap! The slightly more expensive ones are for boy racers, I don't wnt a 'sport' steering wheel. I don't want a too small one either, 14" minimum.
  21. If Prater customs did roll cages..... I think that's the worst I've ever seen.
  22. Thanks. I see now. I have all the major bits but I need a ton of fittings and adapters by the looks of things.
  23. @Lewis, What did you use as non return valve? I have bought one of these In the middle there is the pressure unloader valve which is meant to be operating the pressure release switch on the one way valve. Like in this diagrams But I can't find any one way valves anywhere with a pressure release like this. No experience with pneumatics so I think I've googled American terms and names for things. So what's that thingymabob called over here??
