  1. Thanks Bish I checked the ATF and it was very low, I have topped it up as well as I can and it is trying to engage but still won't - the mech is all free. Looks like a call to Ashcroft. I had a look at the linkages and they are different on my manual box Matt
  2. Hello Just putting the finishing touches on my new Classic ready for the weekend and have discovered problems with the transfer box. It is nigh on impossible to get into low range and on the 1 - 100 times that it does engage it pops straight back out again. I have a standard manual t-box kicking around here, is there an easy fix for the BW or can I simply fit the manual one? We found the linkage after stripping the interior out and have adjusted it but to no avail... Matt
  3. Hi Ade I'll pick yer brains on this if you've done it recently. Boggle gave me some push fit fittings and a load of nylon pipe to do the Disco. Matt
  4. Where do you guys get your push fittings? I looked at RS but they seem a bit expensive.
  5. So if I were to use spacers would that give me a dodgy ride on road?
  6. Thanks Pete that's kind of what I thought. Matt
  7. Just a quickie - i need to get a quick (and cheap) lift on my 300tdi Disco. My pal has a set of bearmach Blues off his 300tdi Defender which are spare at the moment, will they lift my disco safely?
  8. As it says really, I assume that they are used in conjunction with a lift but why? Thanks
  9. OK thanks for all the input. Next question: If I were to geta diesel will any of them have trouble stomaching Biofuel?
  10. That sounds reassuring. There is a 1.8 local to me which is LPG for sale - it had a new engine recently so should have a good head gasket? Does VCU mean Viscous Coupling? if so how frequently do they go O/S and are they difficult / expensive to replace? Thanks
  11. Hello I'm looking for a smaller daily with better fuel economy than my 300TDi Disco. Freelanders seem to take a pasting from everybody but I wonder if this is snobbery. Could anybody advise me of models to look at or indeed avoid? As always any advise is appreciated. Matt
  12. A mate of mine is interested in an autobox which is for sale on here. We need to know how difficult it is to fit to a 3.5 V8 in place of a 5 speed manual. Could anybody advise me of the complexity re: 1 The mounting brackets 2 The interface with the engine 3 Any additional "plumbing" 4 Anything I've overlooked and will blindside us when we try to fit it. I am happy with fabricating a linkage to the changer btw. Thanks for any advice or guidance. Matt
  13. Also the 1" of weld thing, he promises to show his 1/2" lifting 1/2 ton but never does, he did when it was on telly. I bid on that bit of metal on e-bay but wasn't willing to pay more than a fiver for it...
  14. Thanks Alan - I am suprised that something as important as that didn't get more than a brief mention. Never mind it actually helps me out a little I think: A previous thread...
  15. Thanks Mr Corrode Sir, I shall check out your build thread in more detail, I had a skip through earlier. Nice looking truck IMHO. Matt
  16. I've watched the dvd end over end I don't know how many times, it is only now I have started the build proper that I am finding the technical issues
  17. So that rascal Mark Evans chopped the back off his tub as well as the front without telling us I'm shocked! What sort of informative video is that with half the information missing? I went back and watched that section of the dvd again and it appears that he had it delivered with the short overhang: (not the best capture but it certainly seems to show a short overhang) Thanks for the info.
  18. I'm searching around for a 110 tub for the hybrid. Most of the offerings on ebay seem to be excessively long with a massive overhang at the rear. I did a search on google and most of the images that returned were also great long things with vast overhangs. What I want is this: not this (which I guess is a 130 not a 110 as it says: So is the first image a 110 and the second a 130?
  19. Assuming that the weld is good will that level of modification stand up to the rigors of recovery?
  20. Thanks Les , It's actually to fit an RRC chassis, does that complicate matters?
  21. Can I easily use the 110 one then, I suppose that it'll depend on which one fits my tub?
  22. Hi All I have had a change of heart, I cut the rear off my 100" chassis with a veiw to building a trayback but have decided that I want to go back to the original plan and build a 100 Truck Cab ala Mark Evans. The cut I made was here: My question, does the weld on crossmember have enough extension to weld to that? I know I could just buy the panel and see but round here the decent ones are £170... Any constructive comments would really be appreciated. Matt
