  1. yeah, to a certain extent, depends how full the water table is mind. We also have a fair amount of London clay in some areas which works somewhat the opposite, plus a lot of sand. Still, all good fun none the less
  2. they have lifted the winter tro's on the lanes now. apart from the Tennyson Trail which will never be allowed ever. I may see if i have a weekend free in the summer to organise some laning, see how we go
  3. I am one of the organisers of the event, Thankyou Pat Pending for having a look at our website. The area as I am sure you can confirm to the rest of the forum readers is one of the most scenic in the country. We are looking forwards to putting on a great new event and format with plenty of things to keep all the family occupied. As mentioned above, we have a plethora of things to keep people entertained should they want more than to just soak up the epic surroundings. We have Victoria Lundstrom on hand, she's a D of E instructress and avid adventurer, she's there to get WAGs and children involved with an active outdoor life style whilst other halves are making strange cooing noises about led lighting and the most practical overlanding equipment available. We have a practical first aid demonstration from a member of North Devon Coastgaurd. We have links with local MTB guides ( you will need to be fit) and a Kayaking firm on the River Wye. David Bowyer will be onsite, not only to talk about winching but also to share his love of amateur radio with our guests. Sure everyone has a CB, but not everyone knows how to get the best from it or the way to talk correctly. We are as stated above running a lead Greenlaning excursion in the local area for those that wish to, Orgasmic Farmer our route liason officer has a route planned that is both legal and non damaging. Western Valley Models from near Newport will be onsite with a collection of 4x4 Remote controlled cars for the inner child in all of us. With their help we are making a dedicated Scale RC offroad area so that the little trucks can play alongside the big trucks There's many more things to do that I haven't mentioned but can be found on the website here: http://www.thebigoutdoors.org Tickets are just £75 per vehicle based on 2 adults and 2 kids. This also entitles you to all the free activities and seminars that are taking place on the Saturday and Sunday of the event....See you there??
  4. I have lived on the Island for the past 9 years and have run some greenlaning trips for mates some years in the summer months. as said above there are enough that don't have a full time TRO on them tio make a full day of it plus pub lunch if u take the scenic routes. That being said ALL the lanes get a temporary TRO on them during the winter months and rain dependant don't re-open until MaY or June. So no point coming over til then. You will also need to plan the route carefully as the coast road over the back past ventnor towards gangbang chine is shut as its falling away. All the TRO's on open/closed lanes are listed on the council website. Cheers Willo
  5. I can whole heartedly recommend James events. some of the best in the country
  6. watching? yes, can I do that instead?
  7. Hi, As a J33P committee member, I have arranged with Neil Whitford from the AWDC, that at the soon approaching J33P event at Walters Arena (J33P call it Seven Sisters as that is the nearest town) on the 14/15th July there will be one of the KOV scruitineers present. We are still yet to confirm which day, but this will be the last chance competitors will have (unless arranged privately) to make sure that their rig conforms to the regulations. This will also be the last time before the event that the potential course will be open for people to carry out some testing. What J33P are proposing is that if we can get 6 or more extra trucks to enter the Pay and Play weekend on the site then J33P will subsidise the travel costs of the scruitineer and no-one will have to pay the costs. If we don't get the extra 6 trucks, and people are just turning up for the pre comp scruitineering, then the cost will be £20 a truck, payable on the gate/car park Cheers Willo Its worth pointing out that as part of the £95 entry fee for the weekend, this will include a free BBQ at the Dan yr Ogoff Caves campsite, a few miles away.
  8. we won the belgium national waay back in 2001 once upon a time when I had a series
  9. As some of you may be aware, July 2012 marks the J33P club's 10th Anniversary; therefore we are intending to make July's 14th/15th visit to Seven Sisters (Walters Arena) something special, the site where the club was born. Seven Sisters is one of the premier off-road sites in the UK, it is well known to many club members who have attended events in the past, each year participants finding new areas of the 2500 acre site to explore. To give you an idea of the sites pedigree, two weeks following the clubs visit the site will be hosting the All Wheels Drive Club ”King of the Valleys” challenge event, an event that’s billed as the UK’s toughest off road racing event. If you are planning to come along to the clubs Anniversary Bash at Seven Sisters, then we are giving club members (its free to join) a second chance to win free entry to the event by entering the Masked Modifier Caption competition: Focusing on KoV, organiser Neil Whitford confirmed recently that the J33P event on the 14th/15th July will be the last chance competitors and spectators alike will get to try out parts of the course. Hopefully this means as well as getting a good turnout of club members, we also get a good number of KoV entrants, some of the leading offroaders in the UK. Club committee member Will “Willo” Overton is competing in his Wrangler TJ, raising money for Help for Heroes. You can read all about Will’s preparation in this J33P forum posting or on Vectis Racing web site. You can show your support by helping him reach his HELP for HEROES donation target. If you would like to be involved with KoV, you can volunteer to marshall by completing this online form. To summarise, please support J33P and its event organisers by coming along to out events. Don’t forget that once you have attended a J33P event, this will entitle you to a 6 month 10% discount with FTE the club Sponsor. Will Overton On behalf of the J33P committee For those of you who have never heard of J33P, we welcome all makes as the focus is on off roading, adventure and socialising. However the majority of our technical expertise lies with Jeeps. Visit J33P for more info and to join, its free.
