  1. What do you need and where are you? I have a collection of landies built up... as you do... and various spare parts as well, covering Series 1-3, tdi defender, tdi disco and classic rangie... Im located in Kerry, pm me if you need anything. Hedley
  2. Not quite a Land Rover, but I have enough of them..! I have a rare old 4x4 tractor with a blown ZF front diff. I have all the parts (including 80% of the broken bits) The 4 planitary gears and the 4 pin 'spider' they sit on is what has broken, and I cannot seem to find replacement, the places I have tried say its too old and the parts are not available (it was built in 1967) so anyone know of a good ZF parts shop or someone who can manufacture 4 gears and a spider? I do have the serial number from the diff to source parts, just not to hand. I am located in Ireland, but do come over to mainland fairly regularly and would travel to get this sorted. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in adance Hedley 2x '51 80" '54 107" '67 Fendt Favorit Allrad '72 88" '75 Triumph Spirfire '75 109 '76 109 CSW '81 2 Door Rangie thats too many toys...
  3. "Handles 85-90% of normal" yeah right!!
  4. That looks brilliant! simple and effective, looking forward to seeing the finished article and price tag
  5. A very interesting idea, one I have been working on myself for the last 5/6 years... My plan was not to do a straight 8x8 as this would take massive engineering, but a 6x6 based on a standard lwb which would be a lot easier to build and possibly easier to get iva'd etc, then use the extra trasnfer box output to drive a powered trailer.

  9. Respectable Series 3 seeks parking space whilst owner studies Mechatronic Engineering as a mature student at De Montfort University. Currently nearing completion of an extensive rebuild, this tidy 109 requires only a corner to park in from the end of September to mid June, being used at the end of terms to return to Somerset and/or Ireland and very occasionally during term time. Location is not important, once the owner can commute to the University with relative ease. The owner is a respectful and honourable male, 25 years of age, well experienced at servicing and repairing most types of Land Rovers, among other vehicles. Has also just completed building a house with his father whereby all works were carried out personally to a professional standard. Being able to turn his hand to most kinds of physical work, as well as a great knowledge of Land Rovers, perhaps an arrangement could be made in exchange for storage of the 109. Any serious offer considered, PM me or email hedleyjonas@hotmail.com Thanks Hedley
  10. Here, here! 10 mph and the prop burst a hole thru a perfectly good chassis!!
  11. Ive a Perkins 4236 in a 2door rangie, yes its big and slow, but i like it. the trouble is it has a bit of a power steering leak... occationally it squirts steering fluid out of the pressure relief in the resivor cap. I have swapped the cap with another that i know is good, but still the same. The engine has an in-built pump in the timing case and im wondering if it is over pressuring the system, but i dont know why it would? I could mount a normal pump off the fan belt, but i'd rather try and fix this one if i can. Anyone heard of this this problem before? any help much appreciated.
  12. Thats exactly the answer i was looking for simon, thank you.
  13. I must have been having a blonde moment when all this megasquirting stuff became popular. Would someone mind telling me what exactly megasquirt is please? what can you fit it to? is it only petrol? either carbs or efi? I keep reading posts about it but its like im missing the first few pieces of the puzzle... Thanks in advance
  14. I'd throw away everything electric possible, convert the 3.9 to carbs, keep everything simple and repairable in the middle of a field. I used a 3.5v8/3spd auto rangie rolling chassis to build a class 1 trialer. I made the chassis as short as possible, accomodating the drivetrain, and it ended up 82.5" wheelbase, any shorter than that and i would have had serious rear prop issues with binding/breaking. After that, i got everything mechanical working, and built a seat and cage on top, it makes things much simpler that way.
