  1. I have already Philips +80% bulbs (legal), but my disco has headlamp washer and selfleveling suspension... so I can be legal with Xenon...
  2. Hello, Has anyone fitted an HID conversion kit to a Disco 2 facelift ? regards
  3. I may be dumb, but to organise such an event on the same day as the Rassemblement Landmania is a bit... The Landmania event is THE french LandRover gathering event, 850 vehicle max, 800 spots were booked in the first 72h of registration... PS: I don't work for Landmania.... am just an active member...
  4. go to the product section... not a very good pic.. but it's there NorthOffRoad products I know that Gigglepin4x4 resell NOR products for people in the South...
  5. I've got mine from NorthOffRoad... the best piece of protection on my Disco1 (alongside my D44 bumper) What fairly easy to install, and really rock solid and high quality. and not very expensive compared to others...
  6. back to the original question... My vote goes to Gigglepin4x4... Jim may not follow your "loose intruction" if he thinks they are "no good", but he can give sound recommendations, from daily use LR to full racers.... My disco is very lightweight compared to some of the trucks here, but it goes very well and if fit for purpose, and my budget is tight.. If you look at the vehicles that were built for the OBC Morrocco last year.. they are awesome... Devon4x4 woud do a very good job too. I'm sure there are other very good builders in the country, but I don't know them
  7. for what type of discovery ??? For my disco2 facelift, I need to remove: - A-Bar with light guard - front grill - headlamp then you just change the bulb
  8. never been exported over there as LR France has released many editions of soft top 90s over the years. The guys running this site are not LR specialists, they just add what they can find... If someone can do a description of the SV, they could include it.
  9. I've got friend who owns vinyard.. I live in London... The trouble is that sometimes the owners are no aware of the event until the day they see the convoy crossing their lanes.... The event is quite good fun for the people doing it... it is well organised for the participants... I'm just concerned about the other side of the coin...
  10. Looks pretty good.... Can I order the OBC Morroco 2008 DVD right now ??? and can we the before & after pictures of each team with their vehicle and do a spot the difference competitions. (you get bonus points for every 100's differences spotted) Note to myself: re-mortgage the house, learn to drive, enter the 2009 event...
  11. Hello, Are you sure it is the Raid Bleu in the Cevennes area ??? as you have the Raid Bleu in the Beaujolais area (vinyards just North of Lyon) early november and the trophee Cevenol (in the Cevennes at spring time). I'm VERY against the Raid bleu.... throwing over 250 vehicles (4x4, quad, bike) on the small tracks on this area is the best way to have people hating us. The raid itself is well organised (no question there), but: - people keep the roadbooks and come back during the year without autorisation (lanes in a middle on a private vinyard are not always byways !) - even if the villages mayors give there approval (good for the business), a lot of vinyard owners are really not happy about that. if it rains, it destroys their lanes I can only talk about this one as I'm from Lyon and I've got vinyard owner friends who are affected every year by that... only my 2p
  12. and that if you are not wasting time en route.... if you leave England a few hours before the ferry goes you should be fine... that has been done before... Jim: are you going to the pub meet ?
  13. Got my Discovery back... drives like a dream... rusty input shaft was the cause to my gearbox problems. I got great communication from the service department during the week, they clean the vehicle and I got a Free2 as a courtesy car (that I brought back with a 2in crease at the back... bl***y Tesco trolleys or bad reversing -was not there to catch the culprit - that's going to cost me the excess... I hate when people don't respect vehicles...) Free2 td4.... actually a great vehicle to drive... trouble is that 95mph on the mway is easily reached and you don't notice it....
  14. got some news from the French team: Gilles (the yellow one): broke front winch in 1st section, no reverse gear in half of the event, broken steering link in a middle of a bog, multiple rear winch rope breakage. Stephane (Tomcat): 2 bent steering link, rear winch mounting in agony, V8 running on variable number of cylinders
  15. So now it's going to be your fault that "he" won... He always have to find an excuse !!! well done to the co-drivers/winch masters B)
  16. For the gearbox and warranty... V8 are more powerful and use the same gearbox... to be discussed at the time. James knows about the tuning... and the disco is also booked for a magazine shootout as well....
  17. you know what I meant.... Doh... and Yellow disco - wanted to get rid of... oh yes... I'm sure of that... but it was done in a very good way Was a refreshingly nice...
  18. As this not very common... I'd like to say that James B.S. at Lancaster Reading is a top salesman. He knows his LandRover and did not try to bull**t me when I bought my Disco td5 in May. I got a very good deal (discount, new tyres, loss of extras) and they even deliver the disco at home (I'm in Kent) with a full tank of petrol... (Maybe they wanted to get rid of this yellow disco.. a bit of a clash in the middle of all the silver and black RR... ) I'm having some Gbox issue right now, so the Disco is going back for a warranty visit next week... will see if after-sale is as good as pre-sale... Anyone else with some good experience dealing with Lancaster ???
  19. Speaking of Beadles in Sidcup... This is my local... (live about a mile from them...) The guys in the parts shop are VERY helpful and they don't mind when I come with the muddy disco. The salespeople are OK too... depends which one...
  20. Wasn't my original question.. "whoelse is doing a speed delimiter ?" or my english is so bad that it read "let's debate about speeding with a Defender"...
  21. yes... how fast.. up to the legal speed limit when possible.. and a number of my friends on the continent who used to drive at 80-85 with their td5 are not very happy with the 80mph limit...
  22. agree with you, but you can expect 2007 performance for a 2007 vehicle... Even if it's the "same" design since 1948.... the Defender has evolved over the years... and without asking 100mph, 80mph limit is just
  23. the speed is limited to 80mph... with a vehicle like the Newdef you could easily cruise at 83mph on continental motorway (which is legal)
