  1. Reminds me...must get one of these soon! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/T-MAX-4FT-HI-LIFT-JACK-WITH-LAND-ROVER-JACK-ADAPTER-/290640909583?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43ab8c550f
  2. Hi Nidge, have just read the thread you linked to... My opinion is that the whole thing turned out ok in the end... And yes, the minute one cracks or fails I will post the 'Post Mortem' My say..... Just consider an aftermarket skinned door frame for a 90/110 is £280 (Ebay) and I got 2 COMPLETE doors for just over £300! Now that does compute! I, personally am made up with the build quality..not being a metallurgist or a structural Engineer, my opinion is they look a Million times better the 24 yr old OEM doors they replaced... (I think the Series doors are a far better design for all the things they don't have, that the Defender doors do} Cheers Gary PS. Doors were fitted on the 20th July '13....
  3. Iv'e just fitted these at just over £300+ for both Complete doors!! Less paint of course..... http://www.splandrovers.com/product_p/sp10002.htm
  4. Happened to me with an M151 steering wheel...the boss hit me on the forehead and I saw stars! My mate Ralph, nearly very nearly laid an egg he was laughing so much!!!
  5. Just spent an hour or so on Ashcrofts ratio calculator......And the result is.... I have the gear set of the N/A 110 (12D) fitted in a 28D LT230.... EJParrott, you were spot on! Q1. Can I swap the cluster in situ? Q2. Anyone know where I can have it done Nr Chester? Don't mind a journey!
  6. UPDATE: Serial numbers found... LT77 sn 50A030370 LT230 sn 28D066990C 22C=1.222 ratio According to the Ashcroft info, I have the correct ratio transfer box in... AIthough when asking this question years ago,I remember a Landie mechanic saying that it may have the wrong gear set in... They say.."This is a very popular gear set, especially for those with a TD5 90/110 or Tdi which revs excessively on the motorway. This gear set will enable you to raise your transfer case gearing by 15%, by replacing the gearing in the exising 1.410 ratio transfer box with new 1.222 gears, as used in the Disco. This will not only reduce your revs but also reduce noise. This change will not effect Low Range and will leave your Speedo reading true. This kit offers a simple and effective change to your vehicle and there is nothing to go wrong." So why is it revving so high?
  7. EJParrot, you might be right! Will look for the serial no tomorrow!
  8. Just been perusing the Ashcroft site Western, think some overtime is required!! According to them, the norm for the Defender is "The ideal target RPM is 2,700 revs at 70 mph in top gear. " No wonder its hard work above 55!!!
  9. Thanks Baz! will crawl underneath for another look when it stops raining Ha ha! Fridge, it was a 2.5TD...I havent got a clue what the ratio is...was wondering what the bus should be doing re revs/speed?
  10. The sticker underneath the box has gone... I had a 200tdi fitted in my 110 a few years ago from a Disco 1... I had a prob with the transfer box jumping into neutral, so they were going to sort that at the same time, then, I was told I had worn splines on the gearbox output shaft (I did see the wear on the shaft and it was very nearly terminal!) so a different gear box was fitted... The ratio issue only came to light months later when I gave my 90 owning mate a lift and he remarked that it was revving too high! When I looked for the ratio sticker on the transfer case, it had been scraped off... I am asking for advice now as have just come back from Scotland and motorway driving is a chore (to say the least!) with the high revs....50mph (2,500) is more bearable! What do you guys think? Cheers Gary
  11. The inside of the threaded hole should be roughly 22mm...
  12. That looks fine to me (until I'm corrected by someone who knows about these things! Lol) Could yo possibly measure the inside of the thread plz and I will measure mine now....
  13. Got stuck in a tailback on Runcorn bridge and have an led on the dash to show when fan kicks in...well it didnt and temp went up to roughly 105C! Had my little dog in the back so didnt want to use the heater....
  14. Hi Peeps...Was going on holiday today but kenlowe fan blew and is seized solid...Does anyone have a spare viscous fan I could buy to get me out of the s**t? All shops are shut now Cheers Gary
  15. Re Grease.. What about filling the door frame with oil then expanding foam instead of grease?
  16. Yes Bowie, it was! Aftermarket and made on continent somewhere? Most peeved when I received a new shiny X-Cap and it wouldn't fit! Cheers!
  17. Finally nailed it! after hours on the web and about ten visits to local firms, They identified thread as M20 x 1.5... I can now fill and bleed the radiator from here, and not worry about the old plastic plug blowing out! Total cost £7.14 from here http://www.mrhydraulics.co.uk/ Thanks for the advice on here Chaps!
  18. Thanks for the link Western! And that's a good idea Muddy!.... I just want it fitted when I actually want to get on the roof rack... I got one of these, brill idea..no drilling!
  19. Thank you for the pdf Western! , much obliged... I can put the nut plate on instead of 2 nuts and bolts? I need to be undoing them regularly (for a ladder), so it makes sense using the plate.. I will drill between the holes and fit a s/s c/sunk socket screw to hold the plate in place. And its MRC8736? Cheers
  20. Hi Chaps! Just a quick question... What do these screw into? Is it a captive thread or a nut? I can't see in there at the mo without removing my extended mudflap! Cheers!
