  1. Am I right in assuming once the stat has gone over design limit (ie overheated) its useless?
  2. Maybe the cool(er) water circulating past the wax prevented it from melting, thus stopping it opening and doing its job?
  3. My 200 Tdi wouldn't get warm.... I took the thermostat out and there was a tiny piece of rust holding it open.... Just buy a new one!
  4. Have enjoyed this one....trial and error, lots of head scratching and drawings on the backs of letters. Finished assembling (will take it apart again to glue) and test fitted today. Then drawers need sanding and varnishing... Lessons learned? Move to a country where it doesn't rain every time I'm off work... Be a bit more relaxed as far as measuring is concerned ( a Vernier???) Don't Ever use MDF again! (cant screw into edge without it splitting) Total cost of ply to do this, cut to size, is £76.16..... Here is the pic
  5. "How you can reduce the inlet area by over 50% and not expect anything to happen I do not know..." Never a truer word spoken!.... Mine went in the bin years ago!
  6. Fair comment Reiny! let us know the result?
  7. Insurance claims adjuster thought it was inspired.) Jocklandjohn, now that is thinking outside the 'box' in its purest form! Simple, effective problem solving.... typical of the true Landie owner!
  8. And don't forget the infill rubbers too! And you need to make/buy the tool too.... http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-302178 http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-RX1568 Cheers Gaz
  9. http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-302177 No.....
  10. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CHECKER-PLATE-RUBBER-GARAGE-FLOORING-MATTING-1-2M-WIDE-X-3MM-THICKNESS-/121163500216?pt=UK_Flooring&var=&hash=item1c35e84ab8
  11. Hi Reiny! I don't know if this is an 'urban myth' but I was told the fuel and temp gauges are the same but with a different face.... I tried swapping them in my '89 110 when my fuel gauge failed..... And it worked!
  12. Defenders eh? Full of character and water! I love them
  13. Hi Dioliahary, I took mine off and blanked the holes after I sussed that the water running back over the roof was getting in thru them, poor mastic between the vent and the body (I spent a lot of time on this!) It was filling the inside channel above the back door with water and when I braked, it ran all the way back to front and ended up on my right knee! If you don't want to go the whole hog taking them off, just cover the whole vent with wide cellotape for a while and see if it makes a difference?
  14. Yes mate, Dunlop trim spray...dead easy to do apart from the headache from the fumes Ha Ha! And like Jbs says, I got a second hand headlining and retrimmed it, that plus the insulation did reduce noise some! Biggest difference I can see is, it is not stinking hot in the summer and in winter, mine is easy to scrape the ice off when everyone else's car in the works car park is frozen up!....
  15. Hi Anderzander! How's it going mate? This is the stuff I used.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Double-Foil-Double-Bubble-Wrap-Aluminum-Insulation-Roll-1-2m-x-25m-Loft-Wall-/151155151494?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item23318c9286 Cheers Gaz
  16. Common denominator then...exposed thread on the other side of whatever fitting/fixing.... Iv'e learnt a lesson here today.... Cheers!
  17. dioliahary, do you have the rear roof vents?
  18. Hi Sharpe, I was thinking of placing said trail cam inside...they are armed with a remote/fob so very good but you need to consider the placement and number of times the PIR goes off false triggers shouldn't be a problem? So, scrote opens door, trial cam txts you! If its a ninja scrote and he slithers between the PIR rays...the tracker txts you when when the door is opened and/or vehicle moves
  19. A few of us have bought the £32 Tracker off Amazon... Has anyone got any comments to share yet? Also looking at one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ACORN-LTL-5210MM-Email-MMS-Trail-Scouting-Trail-Hunting-Camera-/331035157334?pt=UK_CamerasPhoto_DigitalCameras_DigitalCameras_JN&hash=item4d133ba356 as a back up to the tracker, both will send you an MMS/Txt instantly when movement is detected..... The tech is here already gentlemen....unfortunately it costs....Its all down to how much you value your Landy... Oh, and I have asked my neighbours, IF they see a HIAB anywhere near my house and I'M NOT outside with it, To call me and the Police immediately!
  20. C18RCH...Sorry for your Dad's loss (We all know its not just a 'car'....) Thanks for posting a detailed description of the location etc... I would now ask readers to imagine their car in this setting and ask for input... The first thing I thought of was 'Tracker'! Then 'Smartwater' primarily to get these 'people' caught and in Court (their name and address is read out aloud)
  21. We are lucky peeps to have had the pleasure and honour of owning and driving a Motoring Icon.... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/luxury/motoring/8654/land-rover-the-end-of-a-legend.html Just like British motorcycles, you have to love em to get em right! And don't forget...."Landy's have a habit of going on forever. It’s said that 75 per cent of the two million built so far are still on the road. "
  22. Yes, will be having some of this next time! Right up my street! http://www.adventureoverlandshow.com/
