The "pass the bucket" crazy/dumb/idiot ideas/LR creations

Now can´t take the Hummer hub image out of my head! Maybe the hub could be converted to Rover wheel stud pattern, in a similar way as was made in the Spidetrax 90 from pirate4x4. Anothe advantage of the Hummer design is that brakes are out of the harms way in the diff, and not in the hub.- 292 replies

My brain is building an image of a Hummer-Jaguar XJS Dana 60 axle under a Landy. Mmmmmmmmmmm... This picture from a Hummer hub has been taken from pirate4x4. Mog 404 parts seem beefer... http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/mercedes/116600-hybrid-hummer-axles-versus-mog-hybrid-axles.html- 292 replies

Hummers are independent+portal. Also have CTIS and double beadlocks. Early ones are more than 20 years old now. If the parts could be cheaply sourced and posted from US... This pic is from pirate4x4. Uses Hummer parts, but they have left halfshafts laying horizontaly. With halfshafts in "suspension drop" position it could be a super-portal with maybe +8" extra clearance. Only problem in Europe will be sourcing tyres for Hummer´s 16.5" rim.- 292 replies

Have seen this in one of the cars from Tornado Motorport... ...and I was guessing if this kind of arrangement could be used as an option instead of traditional portal axles. They seem light and could be made 100% Rover with diffs, shafts, hubs, etc. from scrap/secondhand parts from L322 Rangies, Disco 3/4 or RRS. Parts from a 500HP RR in a Tdi Disco 1 will certainly become bombproof.

Nice Merc, but certainly the price will be an obstacle. I like the portals and CTIS. I have never seen anything similar out of a factory and avalible at a franchised dealer. It looks more like a SEMA thing...

Those are the ones I want for the Disco. Fedima makes them in both 9.00R16 and 35x10.5R16 marking, but it´s the same tyre. This will be a selectable version of that Good treads also http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=27817 and http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/land-rover/816718-diy-3-link-front-suspension-rrc.html

In this situation a mid-axle and front little wheels, like in Bill´s 6x6, will become very handy! Notice also buggy #38 with lambo-doors!
