  1. In eBay there are Patrol CVs at Britpart prices! AUS $52.50. I heard about super HD ones costing $1800 a pair http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/CV-Joint-Y61-Nissan-GU-Patrol-/180785793497
  2. Patrol-Rover Hybrid here http://www.rangerovers.net/forum/8-range-rover-classic/12235-range-rover-nissan-patrol-hybrid-project-questions-shocks.html Front patrol vs Rover one Does anyone have a picture side by side of a RR vs Patrol or Patrol vs HDJ80 CVs?
  3. If I go ahead with the Patrol/HDJ80 axle combo, what type of oil should I use for servicing them? Same EP90 as in Landys?
  4. Maybe four letters? Starting whith an "S", ending with a "T" and with an "H" somewhere in the middle?
  5. If Mercedes can, why not Land Rover? Just take some leather and wood, a supercharged engine+box from a Range Rover and that´s all! This could be the boby to start with, the "Hot Chocolate" Defender.
  6. PortalRover seems to use the expensive Ashcroft/Foley drop box.
  7. For gear ratio, we will call the original 1.22 box the "rabbit/turttle" box and the second divorced one will be the "high/low" box. Rabbit-High: 1.72 Rabbit-Low: 4.05 Turttle-High: 4.68 Turttle-Low: 11.02 If we use two identical Disco t-boxes (1.22), we will loose one gear, because Rabbit-Low and Turttle-High will be the same. Rabbit-High: 1.49 Rabbit-Low/Turttle-High: 4.05 Turttle-Low: 11.02 In real world I don´t think that there will be much difference from using 4.05 or 4.68 gear. Turttle-High should be banned via a link bettwen both gear selectors. Rabbit-Low will have same ratio without stressing the second t-box with too much input torque. There are quite a lot of LT230 gears avalible, so multiple conbinations could be possible. Of course in this setup the original the original LT230 will be modified to just 2WD. Front wheel drive housing could be used for PTO arrangement in the second box, in the VikingWinch way.
  8. Yes, I know it. In fact the idea is to use their remote or "divorced" LT230 kit to join a second LT230 to the original one in a Discovery Tdi. This second divorced LT230 will be rotated clockwise to sit full vertical. That will drop output flanges 230mm and this way an extreme 8/10" suspension lift will be possible (+4" coils located under chassis rails) while maintaining propshaft angles as in a standard car. Adding a second transfer without moving engine/box/tbox from their original location will need a longer front propshaft and a shorter rear one. If I can manage to fit a second tbox with it´s output flanges sitting 250mm apart from the original one, props will only need to be swapped front to rear. Second transfer will be from a Defender (1.41/3.32) will compensate for big tyres in high range and low range will be used as "crawler box". Best of all is that, if it works, will be extremly cheap (just a scrap LT230 and a divorced kit) compared to r&p change + crawler box. Suspension will be changed to a unilink type, front and rear, attaching unilinks to the second trasnfer´s support. This is the 70mm shorting kit This is the "divorced" kit And finally the unilink+second transfer made in a Samurai (Marks Zuki, "stolen" from pirate4x4)
  9. Is out out there anyone with a tape and a handy LT230? I´m looking for the distance from flange to flange in a LT230 tbox. And in a divorced LT230?
  10. Have searched in my old magazines. According to 4x4 SoloAuto from February 1991, Y60 Patrol SWB has a front track of 1580mm and rear 1585mm. Roughly 4" more than LR coilers. I have magazines at the basement, ant my parent´s in law and at my brother´s house. I´m sure I have data for HDJ80 and Y61, but have not located them yet.
  11. Maybe that´s the way to follow. With reduction hubs the diff itself will need less reduction, with a smaller in diametre crown wheel, giving better ground clearance. Excellent idea! There was also a Leyland truck with a two speed diff, but can´t remember the exact model. One of the best ways for making an axle "unbreakable" is the use of overloading protection devices. GKN made years ago some overloading hubs. A shame that they wheren´t commercialy succesfull.
  12. "Someone got their portals upside-down" That´s a common practice in ultra-low deck buses
  13. ...but it will feel like a sportscar in the highway!
  14. CV´s? I always heard that the Patrol, as part time 4x4, used UJ instead of CVs Do you have the exact data for front track width for both Y60 and Y61?
  15. Good tread! By looking the pics I see that front Y60 is quite more less as wide as HDJ80 rear, so, I think that the data I found on the net for a track of 1465mm for Y60 is wrong. Do yo know if Y60 and Y61 use same front axle?
  16. Hi all, I have been thinking about the idea of fitting wider/beefer axles to a Landy. In Spain the choice seems to be both Y60 Patrol and HDJ80 axles. Because of Landys offset T-box I have read (cant remember where) that the thougher combo was Patrol front ant HDJ80 rear (Patrol rear has centered diff). I have been searching for track width info on the net. Y60 and HDJ80 are about 1600mm and Y60 1465/1435mm. Is this data correct? Is a LR coiler (1486mm) wider in axles than a Y60? Is the front Y61 axle as though as the Y60 unit?
  17. Why not use RBK500220 for one links and panhards? It can be considered as a HD version of RHF000260...
  18. Back in 2007 I was working in a bus/coach workshop at the parts dept. We were authorised Mercedes-Benz and SETRA service centre, and as such, had access to MB electronic parts catalogue. Unfortunately the CTIS was not covered in the UNIMOG section. Maybe it was not offered for civilian market.
  19. Looks good and beeing Unimog based it will be much easier to service in Europe. How much for a set?
  20. Will MkIII have same problem as MkI?(centre tube not rotating) Will MkII Polybush be OK fot one link? MkIII uses a clip or similar at oposite side of lip?
  21. It looks like cast iron for the casing and aluminium for the cover. In my first drawing I forgot to attach independent suspension´s shocks to the frame
