  1. I can get the light to illuminate on the dash artificially - just haven't got anything to drive it!
  2. How on earth does that work without a connection to the tank?
  3. Thanks - sadly, that's not the same as my sender; mine has a rectangular connector in the middle and no earth stud/terminal!
  4. Having lost the will to live after reading countless posts on the subject (both here and elsewhere), I have a question - my 200Tdi 110 is fitted with a 2-wire fuel tank sender (there is no 3rd terminal). After buzzing them through with a metre, I realised that they were both for fuel level, and not separate 'low fuel' / 'fuel level' (and neither goes to earth). When one side is wired to earth, the other provides the connection to the fuel gauge, which then works perfectly. So - does this mean that I don't have the facility to have a low fuel light (Td5 dash fitted)?
  5. It's important to recognise that while SimonR designed the original version, it has since been modified by others who bought the commercial rights to it, so he is not responsible for any 'foibles', such as the oil seal not touching the shaft!
  6. I'm at the stage where I should be fitting the so-called 'waterdams', part numbers MXC9586 and MXC9587 into the second row doors. I cannot for the life of me, however, see that they do anything at all except (possibly) channel some of any water that reaches the insides away from the door stop mechanism. Am I missing something here? If the above is what they're meant to do, whoever sanctioned their 'design' needs removing from the gene pool...
  7. If anyone else wants to remove their rusty adjuster screws and replace them with something that'll last, a bag of stainless M4 x 50 button heads cost me about three and a half quid - a Nyloc nut run up to the right place and then tweaked to the desired position results in a really good fit (don't forget to apply a dab of anti-seize compound if you also use a SS nut).
  8. Thank you for the link - as you say, the price is, erm, 'rather high' - best I get on the lathe, methinks!
  9. Thanks for your reply - I'll have to pull the lamps back off and remove one of the screws in order to put a thread gauge on it. That'll have to wait though as I've got to finish wiring up the engine bay first!
  10. Alternatively, does anyone here know what threads they have? If I can't buy any, I guess I'll have to machine some up!
  11. Has anyone here any idea where I could find some headlight adjuster screws in stainless, as per the attached pic? The ones on my 110 are really rusty and truly horrible, so I'd like to replace them with something that isn't going to go the same way overnight!
  12. Autocorrect makes the changes based on the frequency of your use of a particular word*, so you clearly use the word 'sphincter' regularly. Is there anything you'd like to admit to the forum? *May not be true.
  13. Thanks - I haven't actually fabricated the brackets yet (too busy trying to rewire the dash binnacle to take Td5 instruments!), but I have made a mock-up in cardboard .
  14. Thank you so much - that is much appreciated! Having the dimensions means that I can now knock one up in ally and see if it fits. If it does, then I can reproduce it in stainless. If it doesn't, then at least I'll be able to work out what needs amending and adjust accordingly!
  15. Thank you - I'd already downloaded the photos from there so that I knew what to look for, but I still need the dimensions!
  16. Somewhere buried deep and well hidden in my garage is a pair of rear trim support brackets for my '93 110, designated MXC3277 on the parts list (as shown below) which are meant to hold the bottom front of the window trims in place. Can I find them though? Not a chance... I don't actually want to use the originals as I intend to make stainless replacements anyway - the problem is, that I need some dimensions to work from, so could either do with one to copy or the relevant measurements... My question (plea) is therefore whether anyone here has one that they could either lend or sell me, or - even better, if someone who has one to hand would be kind enough to scribble down the relevant dimensions; I'm happy to make another Ukraine donation in return!
  17. I would hereby like to make it known to all forum members that TSD (Dave) has been accorded the rank of 'Superstar' in my contacts list for sorting the mileage reset on my speedo so quickly and efficiently. All I've got to do now is strip out the old binnacle and move everything into the new Raptor jobbie before I can rest it in place and admire it. Then, of course, I'll need to remove it again to finish all the horrors that lurk behind the dash...
  18. I've just made a donation, but having read through the thread have also decided to offer up an auction item: So - I have here a Superwinch 525 complete with bumper. It came off a Western Power Landy - I was going to fit it to my 110, but later decided to use something else. The bumper has been grit-blasted and primed. The winch has been taken apart, serviced, and put back together. There is a pump for it, but it will need new hydraulic hoses, tank, etc. I may have the old ones somewhere, but as they have been sitting outside for a long time, they are only fit for use as patterns. The idea is that the highest bid goes to the Jez fund, and that person concerned gets the winch (which is located in mid-Devon). Any interest? If so, I'll take some photos and post them up!
  19. Gentlemen - I thank you both for your kind offers - all taken to PM now!
  20. Thank you - that is a most kind offer - and I'd much rather any monies resulting went to the Ukraine!
  21. Thanks, Gentlemen - yes, I've got a Td5 dash binnacle to go in. As I said above, I've sent Digidash a message, but while I'm waiting for a reply, I thought I'd find out what the latest info was. I'll try contacting CwazyWabbit to see what he says.
  22. Since my 200 Tdi Defender 110 will be effectively brand new when it hits the road (hopefully not long now), I'd like the mileage reset to zero on the Td5 dash that I'm about to install. I've read almost all of the numerous threads on here about resetting the odometer - but as I didn't want to be bothered with the finer details of getting to grips with hexadecimal programming (although it's excellent, there are 14 pages of it in the main thread on the subject), I was wondering whether anything has changed in recent times (most of the threads are years old)? I've emailed Digidash, but haven't head back from them (it was last night and with today being Good Friday, so I'm not expecting to hear anything yet). Since I'm in mid-Devon, most of the specialist places are miles away - a local place wants £180 to do it, thus I'm not in a hurry to go there. The speedo is out and on the desk in front of me, so it'd be easy enough to send out by post. Are any forum members doing the above on a more affordable basis these days? As ever, any help would be most appreciated!
  23. Further to the above, I've just realised that I typed 'LT230', when I should, of course, have typed 'R380'. I wish to plead brain-fade as my excuse...
  24. I think that is probably the likeliest answer, however, I wondered if anyone else had experienced (and fixed) the same issue!
