i am currently building a 110 king cab on a galv chassis, i am hear of p38 steering boxes being used, what is the gain and what is envolved please.

clearly no point trying to reason with you.
isuzu have had their share of carp engines over the years, as have toyota with cylender head issues and chassis and body rot.
i have worked as a heavy plant fitter for 40 plus years, japenese pick ups are not the be all and end all.

finish my 110 build on new galv chassis, bmw m57 diesel and 6 speed bmw manual gearbox , king cab and shortened hcpu body.

the sum of the parts make the product, as an example do you have any experience to speak of with the bmw engine and zf transmission? my son recently had a bmw 535d with just shy of 300000 miles on the clock, original engine and transmission, was still capable of anything asked of it.
i guess you know better than the people putting up the money to build the grenadier.

Thing is for the grenadier to become comercaly viable it needs to have a history where I work.
Unfortunately the time is now and food production is a fast paced business that runs on disposable things such as vehicles.
On my days off I work pulling trailers for another company that also produces food.
Yes my choice is to work a stupid amount of hours but by the time I get to your current age I will not have a need to work or any debts so perhaps then I might buy a grenadier...
unless you are dead of course.
i have seen many men worj 80 hour weeks on the docks earning a **** ton of money, plenty of them didnt make retirement.......

i spoke to busseys in attleborough today, alledgedly they have 4 customer vehicles but cannot release them due to softwear update issues, still no date on their demonstrator,

If I again have the need for vehicles that outwardly appear as stuff did 50 years ago that include mechanical switching and controls and thus, in theory at least, able to conquer far off and remote places, or do the George & Joy Adamson thing with the lions, while being fixable with a stone axe and hammer again at some point in the future I may well look at what's on the market but I doubt I will find much without buying into past models that have potentially been through the mill in the hands of multiple owners.
I had banked on buying a Grenadier after the concept was announced early on. But not now, not after the interminable marketing faff and considering the various things that have already been discussed in this lengthy thread. 60k+ for something that has ended up looking remarkably akin to a Santana lovechild - hmmm. I expect to be able to have a test drive, and actually drive the thing, without travelling miles to some laid on event to look at and try a preproduction, repeatedly and teasingly almost, almost, but not quite finished product. I'm too old, too cynical, and after the cancer scare too aware of my own mortality, to put my money into something that has been a lesson in marketing tease-ology which in itself is something guaranteed to brass me off.
If I want to feel a basic go anywhere basic mechanical vehicle with 0 'doodads' I'll fire up my '43 Jeep [that just cost x thousand for a transmission rebuild] and do the biz in that. I will certainly relish the basic simplicity and direct control that reminds me so much of the Series Land Rovers I owned, fettled and drove daily, until my old bones, sore backside and the need to let my innards settle into their usual place after being tossed around by 80+ year old technology tell me it's time to stop 😉
...and breathe. I had a carp weekend, can you tell?😁if you want a giggle go in to busseys in attleborough, incompatence doesn,t come close, they have not bothered keeping me updated, they have a pre production model in the showroom, almost had to fight to even sit in it.

What is going to be hard to enforce is the use of red outside of agriculture. Easy enough to turn up to a construction site and check but how do you effectively police people using forklifts in yards, lighting towers for events, generators (assuming not used for heating as that is another grey area)
The use of red diesel is much more widespread than you would think
i work as a heavy plant fitter for a big hire company, we send machines out full, we have had our last delivery of read, the tank in our yard will be filled with white, no flushing out. no plans to change all fuel filters unless blocked or on planned service.

I know someone who bought genuine cappings for a 90 from Land Rover, they were a fortune and the quality was shocking - they were twisted from welding in manufacture and a really poor fit.
On the flip side I bought a swivel kit from Brit Part that came with Timken Bearings and Corteco seals and was just brilliant.

duncan mansfield who owned britcar has sh*t on quite a few people in the last month, he is planning to resurface as wolfdale, i knew in may britcar was in trouble when they wanted me to pay upfront on a £300 order, i have known duncan for 28 years so i knew the writing was on the wall.

i have the 18v grease gun, i use it every day on excavators and tele handlers, way better than the snap on 18v

when you say standard disco 300tdi ones, is that front or rear hubs please.

ineos did some work with prodrive a couple of years ago re a desert raid program but it never got off the ground, my son was a fabricator there.
