  1. My personal preference is the td5 as IRS so much easier to drive smoothly and I think sounds brilliant!!
  2. We run tdcis as estate motors and they're always going back to the garage for gear box work, the seem to last about 2 years here before going stupidly clunky and trouble with the transfer box popping into neutral. However we still have a 03 and an 06 plate td5 that are still going strong
  3. Hopefully its just the thermostat... If its anything electrickical then I might as well just walk away now haha Cheers Jamie
  4. Hi guys I've got a strange issue with my temp guage where sometimes its fine sitting about halfway up, other times its absolutely nailed to the bottom of the red and stays there where as sometimes it will suddenly drop back down to normal instantly, not a slow creep back down. Not using water as I've monitered it for a while. All I will say is it is now spending more time at the top of the guage than it is reading normal. Also heaters and everything are as warm as always which leads me away from anything actually overheating but I'll let yous be the judge of that. Cheers
  5. Cheers guys, this is the second time I've done it in a year to the day almost. The ash tray is a no go so looks like the dash top is coming out again haha. Cheers Jamie
  6. Hi guys Is there an easier way to change the washer jet than having to remove the entire dash board? Cheers
  7. Wasn't there a 350 bhp td5 in either lrm or lro about 6/7 Months ago? Featured on the isle of white? Someone else should remember this but I have just got in from a "quiet" couple of pints so could be imagining haha Atb Jamie
  8. Okay cheers guys, so realised that my budget was a bit tight, what's a good option in that bracket then? 50/50 on and off road but the off road is too much for most a/t tyres as I found out last season haha plus I've moved since then and living in glen Esk ATM and been warned about snow in the winter. Also there will be a couple of 200-300 mile motorway trips at 55mph every couple of months. Will remoulds be okay? Cheers
  9. Hi guys Needing a new set of tyres for my 90 and have decided on mud terrains with the amount of snow expected and also with the shooting season in full swing now. Looking at something in the £80 ish per tyre range, what's out there and where should I look? Not wanting remoulds either I should add. Thanks Jamie
  10. Cheers guys, we've got the whole vehicle so should manage
  11. Hi guys Will the front axle from a 1995 discovery go straight into my 1989 90? Cheers Jamie
  12. Cheers for that, guessing diff ratios etc are the same then?
  13. Also if I can get the transfer box from him will a 19j be capable of handling the higher gearing it will it struggle a bit to much? Cheers
  14. Hi guys We've got a 1995 discovery sitting in the garage at the minute as one of our liveries has asked us to out the 300tdi into his defender for him. What I'm wandering is will the swivel joints on this fit onto my 1989 90 to replace my corroded swivels? Thanks Jamie
  15. Wouldn't worry, min was stood for 9 months while I waited to pass my test, jumped in connected the battery and gave plenty of time on the glow plugs and she fired up fine then drove over 500 miles in a week with no trouble
  16. Cheers guys, I'm away ATM and won't have the car and wheel together till Christmas but sounds like it should go on fine. Cheers Jamie
  17. Hi guys Just bought a td5/tdi steering wheel to out in my 1989 90 2.5td. My question is is it a straight swap and if not what do I need? Also got a cubby box to replace the centre seat, is this a straight swap as well? Thanks
  18. Can't hear the whine in the video but I had the same symptoms and was a prop uj just starting to go. Applying throttle made it squeak backing off made it stop. Hope this helps Jamie
  19. As an added bonus I found that if the gauge starts reading hot turning the engine off then back on quickly reduces the gauge back down to the halfway point. Because if this I'm guessing a faulty gauge or some other electrical issue? Would this be right? Thanks Jamie
  20. Hi guys My 1989 2.5td runs quite warm according to the gauge, the needle stands just above 3/4 of the way up the white but doesn't go into the red. However when the engine is off but ignition is on the temp drops back down to about half, I'd this normal? Or is my engine actually running a bit warm or does the gauge lie and actually tells the truth at halfway? Thanks Jamie
  21. Well I've managed to persuade the handy man to help me out once I get the parts ordered so between us we should manage. Thank everyone Does anyone know of a step by step guide online? Jamie
  22. Hi guys Need to replace the rear prop uj on my 90, is it an easy job and what tools will be needed? Just I'm on a remote estate in Scotland ATM armed with just a socket set and a few spanners so will need to know what I need before I go and buy tools. Cheers Jamie
  23. That makes sense as I did notice a tiny bit of play the other day. Thanks for that Jamie
