  1. Any news on this yet? Waiting to order up a Dash Pod and some switches but would like to order it all together with the legends... or will I be waiting a while?
  2. The trade off between off and on road performance is always going to be up for debate... My 90 is shod with BFG All Terrains and although noisy at 60+ (I think the engine noise is louder though), seem to be a good compromise considering 90% of my driving is on-road. The tyres helped me a lot when I went out on Sunday, it was pouring down very wet and muddy. I wouldn't have got through on anything less I don't think! I know a couple of farmers round here who do a more 50/50 on/off road driving and they all seem to use BF AT's. Obviously for extreme stuff you do need MT's and have a few friends who run them all year round. It's personal preference really, LRO's feature was quite intresting.
  3. Forgive me for asking (I have searched) but can anyone tell me if you can access the wiring void within the dash of my 2004 Defender without dropping the air-con module off the bottom of the dash? When I fit my wing tops, I will be fitting a new aerial and want to run the cable through where the existing aerial cable goes but cannot seem to access it as it is behind the dash... normally you can just take the bottom of the dash off right? Trouble is air-con unit is in the way I'll also need to access again when running cables for lamps etc. in the new year. Any ideas? Cheers again...
  4. Thank you for your reply Steve (and Western). It's only done 19,000 miles. You could indeed be right with the transfer box, I will check the tourqe on it tomorrow though just to be sure and clean it off. The diff however was wet with oil, ie. you could wipe it off with your finger. I will check the level of this tomorrow, and do as you say The noise only happens first thing in the morning really (or when cold) and is there when the clutch is dipped, engine at idle, and in gear... but only after I've moved her (ie. used the clutch to produce some drive). I find it hard to re-produce the noise afterwards. I've not tried revving the engine whilst the noise is there, maybe this will help pinpoint what it is? Again thanks for your reply!
  5. My 2004 Defender has a heated screen (fitted from factory) that's on a timer. Trouble is it shuts off after 3 minutes, and clears nothing but a few small stripes on the drivers side. Putting it on again for another 3 minutes helps, but is still stripy as you describe! Are they really this sensitive to over-heating do you think? rob90, my heated window is connected on both sides at the bottom of the screen. I would assume the +ve is on the drivers side as this clears the quickest.
  6. Ok I've had the 2004 TD5 Defender a few weeks now. I thought I'd give it a check over this afternoon so I had a look round underneath and noticed 2 possible oil leaks: The first is very small, I think this is the transfer box filler plug (please correct me if I'm wrong as it was getting dark and I rushed to take the photo). Second looks rather serious, it's the UJ on the rear axle. The oil appears to be coming out of the area around where the UJ attaches to the axle. Thirdly the only other thing that's bothering me is that first thing in the morning if I move the landy a few metres, then dip the clutch I get a kind of low pitched 'whining' (possibly the rear UJ?) as soon as I drive again or put it in neutral it's ok. So anything really serious? I'd like your advice please
  7. Photos here! I was going to suggest this one, looks a nice bumper and is a good company I hear!
  8. You commented on water getting into the Raised Air Intake, but has anyone ever had any problems when they haven't turned it round? I was washing my Defender the other day and realised that water was going into the air intake... where does this go is there some sort of drain that needs to be sealed up when you fit a snorkle?
