  1. ok, so mine decided to seize and on stripping it i noticed the exhaust impeller is slightly damaged (on or two fins are bent at the ends)

its back together and now works, although whistles as expected (due to damage) under load, however some queries:

    1. can it still be used ok in this unbalanced state?

    2. can you get replacment exhuast impellers, can anyone recommend a supplier???

i know really the 'proper' answer is change it but as a complete turbo unit is £455 + VAT or closer to £800 from a dealer i am hesitant to do so if it can be used as is.

yes for £500 i can live with the whistling.

PS driving 700miles without a working turbo is not an enjoyable experience! - mpg suffered a bit as well!!!!

the cause of the initial problem has now been resolved - dont ask.

  2. I am after anyone with a td5 having a quick look uder the bonnet please.

having just dismantled my turbo and put it back together and would like to check the length of the wastegate actuator rod is correct.

(i know i should have measured it before taking it apart)

if possible please could some count the number of exposed threads on their actuator rod from where they start to the nut?

    many thanks in advance.

on a side note i pressume if the rod is too short this means the gate stays closed for longer or is it the other way around?

  3. i could (!) have one for you, he doesnt know it yet but was meant to be crewing my team mates vehicle, that vehicle now doesnt have a working engine which means firslty i could be on my own and secondly his winch bitch will be free. i will keep you posted if hes still definatley going to be free, but iwont know until early nest week.

we are hopefully getting the engine sorted (changed) next week but time is ticking away!!!

  4. no Wills right, maybe not lazy just a different priority of jobs to do first...........................

like suspension, doors (talking of which do you want those other doors still Will, complete againnow, available next week)

the allen bolts need tightening and i need to pad out the inside as they go tight but still wobble and just havent got around to it.

at least they are better than the Wolf ones which have 4 M4 or so screws on the back that you use to tighten them onto the ball joint and they never stay tight. In my exp anyway.
