Who makes the best ones? When I get the truck back, I plan to replace the 3 middle row ones, then the front two, maybe with heated seat option....... Do any seats from othe land rover / range rover models fit easily?

Smo, it was at 50-55mph, honest. And the daft kid driving was trying to swing around me, bumping on to and off the pavement, rather than queue behind me until the car in front of me had turned right, and then we could both have driven on.....unfortunately for us both there was a car reversing down the ramp on the left side of the pavement, which left him no gap and he hit me just to the left of the towbar. At the time I was about 3 1/2 yards behind the car in front, a small mpv, and he hit me so hard I whacked the car in front. Your right about one thing though, his car is a write-off. When he hit me he drove off, and I got out of the car reciting his number plate over and over, only for the guy I hit to tell me "you don't need to do that, he's left his number plate on the road for you" (along with the front grill, headlamp, bumper, some radiator contents etc etc). Right now I am trying to get some physiotherapy paid for by direct line, because 44 days on my left shoulder is very stiff, I have some significant pain in my lower left back, and I don't have a full range of m ovement in my neck. (AND let me tell you this, where there's blame.........)...... I guess they make our cars pretty tough though. Paticularly in the area of the rear cross-member.

Finally..........job re-authorised by the ins. co. after I telephoned them at 9am yesterday for a one-way chat. Estimate is now 7-10 days. Still, at least I'm getting it back!!!

Got the repairs approved on Monday 31st March, handed over the truck to the repairer, went off on holiday to Mexico, looking forward to seeing it on my driveway on my return. No joy. Got back from holiday to find that the ins. co. had asked to come and inspect the vehicle for a second time and were haggling the price with the repairer. There will be some harsh words when I ring them tomorrow. Work not even started yet! :angry: :angry:

My V8 ticked loudly when i acquired it, and was worse under load, it cost about 35 quid to fix.........just wanted a new manifold. Check that part of the exhause hasnt rusted through. Now just does "the V8 roar"! There - I think I have given out my first piece of technical advice. Next thing you know I will be a grease monkey!! :P :P

She lives to fight another day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The insurers today authorised the repairs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hooooooorah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi.... My 1989 110 CSW has a rather knackered and crappy dash. I dont mean the instrument panel, I mean the passenger side part of it, which is flat fronted, has no storage bins or pockets and, frankly, looks awful. How easy is to swap for a slightly later model.......... Supplementary.......anyone got a nice one they wish to part with.......... (Still waiting on a decision as to whether or not the ins. co. are going to write off the truck........)

Just in case the insurers dont let me have my 110 truck back..........I've started to scout for a replacement..... Anyone with a 2.5 diesel 110 CSW care to tell what mpg they get? Supplementary - can you LPG convert a diesel?

I'm just merrily surfing while awaiting this coming Thursday's insurance report (trying to prevent the truck being written off!). So the insure now wants to send an engineer out to inspect the car...........first available date is the 27th of March. Hooray...not.

Well, I've had the quote from the engineer regarding repair of the truck. The bill comes to £2100 including vat. The truck has an agreed insurance value of £2800. Will pursue tomorrow, apparently the engineer faxed the quote to the insurance company on Friday. Will keep you informed, and cheers for all the advice thus far guys.

Ralph, is the rear cross-member welded as part of the chassis or just bolted?

Vehicle was at my mechanic's place all day. He got his bodywork man out to look at it. He reckons the ins co may write it off ! Woe is me!! I've got a guaranteed value of £2800 on it, but I've spent a ruddy fortune having it cured of its ills....... If the engineer from the ins co says it's a write-off, do I get any salvage buy-back option? Irritating thing is, it doesnt look that bad and it is PERFECTLY driveable...... :angry: :angry:

Had a bit of a scout round.......decided to go with the AA Injury Claims Service.

Well, the truck is in dry dock now for repairs estimate. The insurance boys told me they had no land rover repair specialist and invited me to choose my own garage. So it's gone back to the garage where it spent the last 10 days being upgraded....... As for personal injury, it appears that I have to find a "where there's blame" solicitor....... Anyone recommend one?

Martin, I might well take you up on your offer......out of interest does it have reinforcing struts down the middle of the inside of the bonnet (im trying to identify the exact bonnet type)? And is it chequer-plate free.....and is it spare wheel mount free? In any event, the car will be away for a couple of weeks I'm sure, so it will be after then. And mine is shire blue, so it does sound ideal

Bloody hell - is there no secrecy ;) ;) Been asleep for a couple of hours, cause I didn't sleep very comfortably last night. Martin - you should have knocked on, we could have had a brew and talked about why my new bonnet wont' fit! For reference, accident happend outside the Little Bhudda on Folly Lane, at the junction with Birch Street. small world!

I've paid the fine already........I'll just have to add it to my "where there's blame, there's a claim" bill..............
