  1. Does anyone know what the fittings are on the flexible brake hoses. Ie are they: eg, 1/8 bsp or 1/4 bsp. I need the sizes for the front flexi's and the rear one Any help appreciated. Regards Andi K
  2. Gaurdian are fantastic to deal with, I've yet to hear a badf word said about them. While the floor is out swap the a frame bush as it's a pig to do from underneath. HD springs and dampers are a great idea, if you do fancy any off roading a set of diff gaurds (around £25 ish each) and a front steering gaurd (£80ish) are great upgrades. And very cheap. Weld and upgrade everything, the sills are best replaced with box section steel 60*120*1400 x3mm thick, very easy to do and quite cheap, so now worries abouthaving to replace them in the future, I have just done mine and I have never welded before, I had the help of a few mates to guide me through techniques and done a bit of practice pieces. I have only just done my inner sills and front floor and back floor. If you want anyhelp putting a to do list togther just say. I would recomend being very hard and writing do a list of all parts that need renewed and all parts that need welding, once you've got it you can then cost it up and see what can be replaced with stronger items or upgraded. Regards Andi K
  3. Checked with the minestry regs, and any the rules are very vaugue as always, I have been reliably informed so long as they are inside the wing mirror dimensions there should be case to argue. They won't be very big at all just enough to be a side step and act as a tree slider. This is part of my over christmas plans along with a body lift and suspension lift
  4. I know, I know! I promise I will put them up when I get the following info: What size would be best to make the tree sliders with, ie what thickness tube etc? Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Sorry Russ, I will do. I've been busy modding my roof rack this week
  6. Done, just thought I'd put some closure on this one, a great improvement, and they work
  7. Hello again chap, for a set of box section sills 60x120x1400 3mm section it cam to around £30 for the steel, and it worked out around 5 hours per side to do, this is a very cheap repair and a must upgrade, I'm going to be tackling the rear box section as mine isn't really to good, it passed a mot but if I was doing it I'd have poked it a bit harder and failed but then again I'm happy , Have a real hard look at you truck, and write a list of EVERYTHING that needs doing, then decide if it's worth it, at least if you go and have a look at another one you'll know what to look for! Best of luck mate!
  8. The main question is can you weld or have access to a welder? If the answer is yes, each job can be done over a weeked, I've done sills one weekend, boot floor another, front floor the next, then I did the inner wings the following, quite alot in all but before I strted I couldn't weld, but I paid £95 for an evening course and i already had a welder (you can get a secondhand one for around £100), so in total my starting cost were minimal and I now have a very solid land rover Your choice but most disco's have rot somewhere
  9. My poly bush ones are also in 2 parts!
  10. DONE - DONE - DONE - DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pictchoors will follow this week!
  11. Well side one done, it's taken for ever and I've burnt my hand, note to self ALWAYS wear gloves , I take it back, 1400mm is ideal, I'll post pics tomorrow night or throughout the week, I'm pretty pleased with it but I've had to do alot of other welding. I found I diidn't really have a passenger footwell Oh well, I'm off to the shower!
  12. Hello one and all, I'm replacing my sills at the weekend with some box section steel, does anyone know a good thickness for this, is 2mm to thin? or 3mm, I feel that 5mm is to thick and very heavy! Please help, i need to buy it tomorrow Cheers everyone! Andi K
  13. Well I'm going for it at the weekend! I'm going the boxsection route, can anyone recomend a thickness for repairin gthe floor section? 1.5mm or 2mm? Or thinner?
  14. I still have to fit the seat belt anchorages, I'm still trying to sort out a way of fixing them back to the chassis after citting them off. My plan is to use a rose joint and high strength nut, that should do really and be quite strong!
  15. Haha, well ...... yes! They are saturdays plan, sunday's is a heavy duty bumper! Thanks Tony
  16. DONE!!! - Not the most pleasant of jobs. But alot of ugly patches and bad spot welding but it's solid and painted, with a good coat of underseal!!!
  17. Hello everyone, I know ALOT of people (most disco owners) have done their boot floor, my question is: I need to replace most of the side panels, has anyone just plated these up or manufactured their own, I know I may sound like a skin flint but at £35+vat each, I feel they add alot to the overall bill for the repairs. any response appreciated Andi K I am resigned to buying the cross members and floor section
  18. I'm with you on this one I love to make my own stuff, there is just something rewarding about it.
  19. That's it James, I just thought they would not have left the factory like this and with usual wear and tear it could be improved. So this is nothing to worry about then? Thats a relief, thanks everyone!
  20. Thanks for that mate, looks like SWMBO will be on her own again next weekend and the weekend after!!!
  21. Hello everyone, has anyone had any experience of excessive play in the prop shaft? I was under the car and tried to turn the front prop, i managed to move it quite a way to be honest, Is there any way of replcing the worn components in the transfer box and I take it a new (good used) front diff is in order aswell. Also any idea of costs? Thanks in advance Andi K
  22. Thanks everyone, ALL info is welcome, I'll post a write up when I do it and hopefully it will be some use to thers. Any help appreciated chaps! Andi K
