  1. How much!!!!!!!!!! I rockon I'll be building my own
  2. Graham, where did you get all the components from, ie the brown infill panel??? Etc, I really like that, oh and want one!
  3. Excellent chaps, thanks for that. I won't be carrying massive loads around so it may aswell go, it looks quite new anyway.
  4. Hello everyone, just a quick question, I'm nearing the point of having to think about my suspension on my 110. I ideally want to run 265/75/16 Dakars and I'm looking at a +2 lift with the Bearmach Blue HD typs, as I've used them a few times on discos. My qustion is, do I have to remove the self leveler shock on the rear axle or will it be ok with the +2? Or can it be spaced? Regards Andi K
  5. I'm starting the same thing. I've found very little in the way of write ups so it's a case of suck it and see I'm afraid!
  6. the volvo 9 series has a very good fan with twin speed inputs
  7. It may be that you've lost height at the front as your springs may not have been rated ffor a winch at the front, how about just getting some spring spacers for the front and back, that should give you a cheap lift?
  8. Hello again one and all, Right another question if you can help please everyone, As you may have seen I have a V8 110 that I'm rebuilding using a rolled disco 300tdi. Can I use the disc braked rear axle and the the front axle from the disco, mainly because there is vertuallu no play in them at all, where as there is alot of play in the defender axles (well the front anyway) Any help would be greatly appreciated! Regards Andi
  9. Thanks for the help so far chaps, anyone experience any problems whilst doing this swap??
  10. DUDE! Thanks matey, gues what I'll be doing this week
  11. Yes, I'll be using the origing discovery 300tdi gearbox and making up a new centre seat box section, I no longer have the V8 engine or box as i sold these, however I do have the wiring still in place in the truck, is this easy to change to the 300 loom? I sadly will be struggling like always with my engine crane, oh and I have a gravel drive which adds to the fun, (I've swapped 3 200tdi engine and not enjoyed a single one of them!) Can anyone help with the position of the engine mounts? will they be in the same place as a standard 110 tdi? If so can anyone help with this location? I'm planning on removing the engine mounts from the disco and grafting them out the defender so any help would be appreciated! Thatnks for the swift reply Jim.
  12. Hello one and all, I know I've been asking loads of questions over a few forum but I'm now getting ready to do the engine and gearbox conversion. I have now got a rebuilt defender 110 chassis and bulkhead with the rear tub, roof, sills and b pillars all back on and repainted, I think I'm ready to drop the engine and box in. I have checked my transfer box from the original engine (V8) and is the 22D which is a 1.4, so I can use this (I belive). I'll be removing my engine and gearbox from the discovery as soon as possible, can anyone advise the best procedure for lining everything up? Do I need to use the disco crossmember? If so will it bolt straight on? What wiring do I need to take over from the disco? - Is there anything that will catch me out? I'm sure I'll be posting my questions as time goes on but I'm sure you've heard them all before! Thanks in advance everyone. Andi
  13. Thanks for this topic I've found it very usefull in identifying my trans box, as I also 'had' a V8 110 CSW which is now recievng a 300tdi and disco box. No need to look for a 1.4 as I already have one
  14. Has anyone dropped a whole discovery 300tdi engine and box into a defender ? I know I will have to fabricate a tunnel and I'll loose the centre seat, I just need to chat to someone who has done it before. Also I have a disco 300tdi complete that fell over whilst towing, everything is straight apart from the body work, axels are straight etc and the engine is great (my old family run around) Is it worth swapping the disc breaked axels from the 24 spline 300tdi disco onto the defender. It currently has the salisbury rear and 10 spline (? I think) front. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  15. Hello everyone, I'm in the process of rebuilding my truck. Originally a 110 CSW V8 I have stripped it out and rebuilt it and sold the V8 and the santana box. I have kept the transfer box. Right I have a disco 300tdi complete and I'm trying to source a R380 g'box, will the box bolt up to my transfer box, or do I need to look for another one? Any help greatly appreciated, Cheers Andi
  16. I considered it but the engine number was ground off, that chap was isistant he bought the truck from a salvage yard that way, but I just wasn't sure, maybe I was wrong but I don't like things like that. Nice chap though
  17. I'm just stripping my V8 110 CSW with a manual 5sp, and I'm looking for a R380 gearbox and engine. Would this be of interest to you at all?
  18. Excellent, So the engine mounts aren't far off then?
  19. Please help everyone I'm already 1 day into 110 ownership and I've gone from a decent road going 110 CSW that was hand painted blue, so it did need a good fettling. What I really want to do is fit a 200 tdi in it's place. I know I'll have to fabricate engine mounts which is no problem, however what can I re-use: Can I keep my transfer box?, therefore keep the props and everything else the same. How much would I be looking at for a defender gearbox? Also I'll be looking at dropping in a disco 200tdi as they seem cheap enough to buy complete with disco attached. Re the wiring, has anyone done a write up of the procedure that I can look over. Any help would be greatfully recieved! Cheers Andi K
  20. Well this is Grover, As bought, less roof bar: And recently: I now have a winch bumper on and I've finnished the chequer plating and boarding the roof rack.
  21. Yes I totally agree, I've left the sunvisors off as I'll be putting on a window tint style sunstrip.
