  1. i'm looking for a remap - just wondering what that turbo boost thingy was 200 tdi - i wasn't looking for the torque quite that low end
  2. would like to tune the td5 but not over the top. the thing i'm really looking for is mor torque from lower down not so much top end hp. seems like the turbo boost box is not the thing i'm looking for - didn't intend to play with boost pressure.
  3. i have a full aircon set for a defender available, all bits including dashboard included. if you're interested - pm.
  4. looking for one for a defender - who makes them? looking for one with a ball joint at one end - not the paddocks type with two bushes. cheers spec
  5. Td5 alive / Jeremy J Fearn both offer a turbo boost box for the td5. seems to be some electronic box withj a couple of cable sticking out. anyone knows what exactly it does? any good? cheers spec
  6. thanks - checked their website - didn't have anything on it.
  7. anyone has one fitted? good? who sells them? i thought i saw a thread about it here couple of months ago - but can't seem to find it. cheers spec
  8. thanks! what £s is to be expected from the military tops? is there any advantage of anti burst locks? what exactly do they do? i supose the defender military tops will fit a series door? thought that would be an easy upgrade
  9. thanks - military tops seem the way to go found the door bottoms at paddocks - they also have some with "anti burts lock" - is that any use? do i need new door straps or will the series doors work with the defender version? do i need new door rubber?
  10. want to change the doors to series door? which ones to take - is there a differen between series 2a / series 3 etc? where can i get them from - preferably new? what else do i need to fit them - hinges etc. can i keep the defender mirrors or do i need new ones? cheers spec
  11. have the same problem - both parents being doctors - never had the chance to learn ;-)
  12. thanks clbarclayfor the explanation - it makes sense to me now. cheers orange
  13. thanks - that helps. 20 kgs more for front axle compared to rear sounds about right.
  14. thanks for the link - 120 or 160 kg is quite a difference. anyone knows for sure?
  15. anyone knows the weights of a rear and front rover axle? including diff, brakes and the lot but excluding wheels. ie unsprung weight less wheels. cheers orange
  16. have done the same - put a td5 from a defender into my 200 tdi 90. much better engine, even in standard (non tuned) wiring is a bit of a challenge though - make sure you get the complete loom. will take you a while to understand what all the wires are for since lots of other functions (heating, airco etc) are part of the same looms - so its a challenge to work out which wires are needed and which are not. the other thing that turend out to be a challenge was the fuel pump since i wanted to use the 200 tdi tank. the original td5 setup is wuite complicated so i experimented with inline pump from a bmw but that didn't work. I ended up copying the original set up with a lift and a high pressure pump as well as a swirl pot as well as the original td5 fuel filter. got the pumps from D44, that setup works well now.
  17. i've run that setup now for 2 years and the truck had some more abuse befpre i bought it, so it does last. i tend to only use the front locker when i really have to and have not yet given it full throttle in reverse, while steering hard right with front locker engaged
  18. gkn makes 10 spline h/d shafts - d44 sells them have them in my 90 with a arb loker and AEU2522 CV's. with 35 simex they have ao far taken all the abuse i have managed to throw at them
  19. for a challenge truck i would propably agree with using a third party efi system rather than the original. but i have wuite a few friends whos immobilisers are constantly causing problems in their p38's and we are looking for a way of getting rid of the immobiliser in a p38.
  20. yes there are two differen versions. answers to both would be appreciated. not sure whether the immobiliser bit is different, could be only the EFI bit.
  21. firstly, these always seem to go wrong. secondly i'm looking at putting a 4.6 from a p38 into a challenge truck. any suggestions of how to deal with the immobiliser. would definitely not want the original unit in a challenge truck ;-)
  22. is ist possible to get a 110 td5 in ROW spec through a sva? thanks! spec
  23. i converted a 1996 200td from rhd to lhd the following parts were needed: steering box panhard rod bracket holding steering damper on steering arm swivel housing RH LHD power steering hoses brake pipes bracket holding handbrake window wipers tube motor to wheel box LHD light assemblies complete dash instrument binacle spedometer heating box hoses heating box clutch hoses quite a few bits, expensive when bought new. went to a breaker and got all the parts, most difficult bit was the swivel housing. i went there: http://www.rangeroverrecycling.nl/english/ he has a whole yard full of land rovers of all sorts and ages. found a lhd defender from the same year and got all the bits from it. lhd conversion sounds easy but actually is quite a bit of work
  24. sounds interesting, especially the zf box will have a look whether it can be made to fit to a defender anybody knows what steering box the bowler wildcats use? they use disco II axles afaik
  25. interesting - who is howe? does it bolt to the lr mountings?
