kind of wary of the different steering feel with ram assist.
also use the truck for rallyes, high speed events
how would you describe the different feel, more direct?
seems like i need to replace my sterreing box once a year.
would like a more permanent solution that can cope with competition use.
what are my options? heard the units from a disco II/p38 may be stronger.
has anyone fitted a box from a g wagon/toyota/GM? these seem to last a lot longer than the land rover boxes.
then ram assist may also be an option, but not sure whether thats suitable for high speed events?

just had a closer look to where the hoses are going
one is going straight to the brushes of the starter motor
the other to the solenoid
not a good place to have grit and water i suppose
took the starter apart, drilled the holes and cut a 1/8 inch thread to screw in adapters for airline hoses. these will connect to the rest of the breather system (axle, gearbox, winches etc)

on my td5 starter there are two rubber tubes going down, guess for ventialation purposes. but when wading, water will get in through them so better to close them or connect breather hose which leads further up.
any opinions?

as it happens, other than a complete aircon system i also have a complete 200tdi from a defender lying around. so one more reason to come and visit. head gasket is gone on that engine, but other than that it was running before i took it out. turbo would prop neeed replacement, fins are not too good.
i'm in romania the week from 17 mai, but taking part in a competition and no space in the 90 to bring it unfortunately.

radiator is now on the back of the 90, sick of trying to get the mud out of it
now need a good and powerful electric fan
which are best?
size of the fan is 10"
needs to be 12v
should be very powerful
any suggestions?

putting a td5 into a 200tdi at the moment
using an external pump from a bmw, it sucks through a standard 200tdi filter.
setup seems to run fine, but the pump gets extremely hot, after running the engine or 20 mins or so its so hot that it burns your fingers if you touch it.
is that normal or a sign that the pump isn't up to the job?

hi western, thanks, but i have the diagramm.
what i need is which cable goes where into the plug. (i don't have the original plug, but i have omne that fits, so i need to know where to connect the cables.
shackleton, backup plan urgently needed, engine nees to run :-). picture if cables going into plug would be ideal. have the sensor with three wires (later models have four)

spec
need to know the colors of cables going into the plug. mine has three connectors, but not sure which one goes to which cable on the harness.
this is the sensor that originally sits in the air filter box

putting a td5 into a 200tdi. in the loom there's a switch that tells the ecu whether the tranbsfer box is in high or low range. what exactly does it do?
kind of remember that it changes throtle response when in low, but not sure.
any suggestions?

putting a td5 into a challenge truck.
have all the parts from a running vehicle
but the immobiliser ecu is missing.
is there a way to get around that?
heard that the ecu needs to be programmed to saudi arabia, it then won't have a immobiliser, but not sure whether that works.
any ideas?

afaik the mounts on the lt230 differ
putting a td5 into a 200tdi, facing kinda the same issue
200tdi engine being way back, longer front/shorter back prop shaft as in 300tdi/td5
will put the td5 in using the 200tdi mounts on the lt230
will then fabricate new engine mounts to suite engine location

looked at some us sites
http://performancelifts.com/cgi-bin/cart/s...=eq/tf=sku.html
milner isn't too bad either, considering that getting them from the us means paying some taxes on top.
these are excellent value at the moment. thinking about putting them into the 90
not looking to increase articulation, just better damping in high speed events.
just measured the omes that were in:
length extended 23,6
collapsed 15
travel 8,6
so the Fox Racing 2.0 - 8.5 Travel w/Reservoir would be a perfect fit
mounting would be DII front turret in front + custom brackets on bottom.
but how do i make sure that damping is appropriate to my 90 truck cab?
how do i set these up? i.e. how do i change valving etc? (can i do that myself)
cheers

thanks for the answers, managed to get hold of a td5 gauge, will use that. think that showing correct water temp is somewhat important, so thought that would be the best solution.
