  1. Well, i reckon if they are not slotted. Then they will be when i put them back B) Cheers for the info
  2. Well between the two of ya, i believe some light has been shed on the matter Cheers
  3. Is there any electrickery theory, referance to required "Pulley" diameters and alternator types (amperage rating) and RPM I have two 120 amp alternators on a D90 300TDI But have been running one with a smaller pulley. This would mean that its RPM would be higher than the other. I am thinking that the Alternator with the small pulley will not last as long? Are there Max and Min RPM rating for Alternators? Reason, for the small pulley is that the Aircon drive belt wont fit over the the standard size pulley, when the 2nd alt is mounted in the aircon spot (Using the aircon belt, as drive belt for it) Will eventually get a longer belt, but curious... Cheers
  4. In the end, removed Rad (needed cleaning after Billing) Ground the sheared M8 bolt flush with the mount and drilled out to M10. Needed to open up the lug on the alternator to clearance. Cheers for all the advice, had consider replacing P gasket! But from previous experiance, the casting and bloody pulley bolts like to shear aswell!!! If it aint broke....leave it alone... Cheers for the advice
  5. Right, 10min Job....yeah right! Started to strip Duff Alternator and couldnt get the bottom 8mm hex out! Plus gased for awile and tried again....SNAP!....Bugger! Welded a nut to the stud that was left, but no chance. Just sheared again, soooo only option i can see is to drill out. At present it is a threaded 8mm blind hole with sheared bolt in it. What i am thinking of doing is drilling right through as a clearance hole. Is this a wise idea in this area of the casing? I cant see an issue with it, but.....? Any ideas, comments Cheers
  6. Outriggers are sound, the purpose of getting to the outriggers is to plate them with 6mm plate for strength, then prep for cage mount.
  7. Right im in the realms of putting a roll cage on a truck cab 90. I need to get to the front out riggers and plate them ready for the cage. Before i start the job, any advice on removal of the wings and any other areas to aid access to the riggers would be greatful Cheers
  8. Check Ebay..........There are usaully some 2nd hand units on there. Check out: http://www.powercapacitors.co.uk/transwave.htm A good source of info and may just save you buying a Machine Mart special that is not up to the job........?
  9. Ooohh I knew it Always fancied having a go at it! Spent many an hour in front of AutoCAD, but never had the facilities or skills to execute Look forward to see it.....
  10. Nice piece of kit......... Just wondering whether a Tubular chassis/spaceframe may manefest from your camp oneday? Based on Land Rover chassis of course!
  11. Upped this topic up a few dayz ago! Thought it had run out of steam? £30 for a 40mm offset rim VS Blood sweat tears and a few F's.....and the chance of a wobbly wheel Well i have a set of rims though...So a may just go done the Blood, Sweat....Route If you see a 90 with wobbly offset wheels!
  12. I have an old set of Disco steel rims and have heard rumour you can reverse them, to create a greater offset? Now looking at them, some work would need to be done to the holes? Maybe calipers would hit? I will chuck one on thisaffo and have a look... The method in my madness Would be to maybe reverse them and then weld a set of DIY beadlocks on them. Stupid idea? Any opinions? Ayyone done it....... Cheers
  13. My exhaust is in need of replacing, the middle and rear box's are coming away from the pipes. Just wondering if it would be o.k or of any benefit to remove them, and make it a straight through? Any comment, or advice? Cheers
  14. Anyone know why the glow plug light would keep flickering while the lights are on? Battery? Timer? Cheers
  15. 20% Thats pretty steep! Lets hope the event organiser dont get too greedy?
  16. Did anyone manage to get any good deals? I had tried all Saturday, but to no prevail? Even tried "Any discount for the Marshals"....But couldnt get anywhere. I guess the organisers have boosted the cost, for the companies to have a tradestand? Giving a knock on effect for the punters?
  17. Gave Allisport a ring and they do some good options. But at the moment i think i shall stick with a new stock part (Cheaper) £200 from Bearmach gets the intercooler and rad ready to slot in. One quick question? I would like to leave the Fan cowling off permenant, so i can clean the Rad/Intercooler more thouroughly. But common sense would tell me that it helps with the cooling? I assume the air is drawn in and concentrated due to the cowling?? Or am i just being a dumb ass? Any comments....? Cheers
  18. The Rad is buggered and the intercooler is looking a bit rough aswell. Are there any other possibilties other than the stock Radiator/intercooler? On the parts list, i have been told that there maybe a "Heavy Duty" option available? Any info, opinions? I know there are a few options with the intercooler, but i dont wish to fork too much. The option for a large intercooler is an option i am not interested in. Stock or a good upgrade though would be. Truck is used primarily Off-Road Cheers
  19. Cheers Les, I believe that supplied me with enough info. Crash course completed
  20. RE: DIY Beadlocks..... Guess there would be nothing stopping you buying 2 sets? Or are the inner beadlocks differant to the outside? I suppose there could be probs with caliper clearance? Just out of curiosity! What would a set of double beadlock rims cost?
  21. Outside of rim Vs Both sides of rim? Looking at it, i cant see the point in just doing the outside? Guess i am missing something...? Is it that both side are not readily available/Expensive?
  22. 235/85R16 = 806mm tall Insa measure 813mm tall (32") 255/85R16 = 840mm tall (33") For a retread the set i have are right on size, i had been told to expect them to be quite a bit over! But all o.k They handle pretty well on road, sound like a tank though. Off Road, they out performed the Grizzlies i had before, but the Grizzlies were 235/70R16's So the extra clearance may account to that? Im happy with them, and they have the tread pattern of a well established tyre.... Simex of course The compound may be a little to soft for lots of miles on road though? Time will tell, dont expect "BF Goodies" miles out of a set!
  23. Put them on and happy with them at present, at £68 per corner and at a size that can go on a standard hieght 90. I had nothing to lose (fingers crossed) The Grizzlies were good and i would use them again, but the Insa's are a Simex ET rip-off so i couldnt resist
  24. Check the link below, these have been reccomended to me several time for HD use? Known as "Johnny Jionts" They will need welding, but go upto 3"..I know they are stateside but if ya running 37's and ram assist, sound like you are in the realms of Rock Crawler territory? http://www.currieenterprises.com/cestore/johnnyjoints.aspx#
  25. Having had a look at the front outriggers this morning, they are the originals. O.K condition, but personally not good enough to start strenghtening. I reckon i would be better of, A: Buying new outriggers and strengthen before putting into place B: Just fab new outriggers myself? Cut the old one's of and use as a pattern.....
