  1. Thanks very much Ed, that's good of you. I sold my 110, which was a 200Tdi CSW, just over a year ago for £3,850. It was almost mint with lots of extras as well as brand new wheels and tyres. It seems that looking around now the same money is getting you a lot less! I'd be more than happy with one of the ex-utility 110s, the ones with 5 doors and two rows of seats but then van sides in the back. Not bothered if it's a bit of a shed, doing it up is part of the fun. This would be perfect, but we haven't got the money at the mo.
  2. Thanks Stumpy. We'll see what turns up, but i think we're going to have to wait a while and inflate our budget somewhat first. I'll borrow my Mum's Corsa until we find one!
  3. Not everybody. Some of us do know the difference in trim levels.
  4. You could always lend me yours... Was it 1992 when the Tdi first went into the 90 & 110?
  5. It gets worse, he's having my Rangey :( Once i've sold my DoKa as well we'll start looking again. Then again i must just say "fxxx it" and put one on my credit card at Brightwells next tuesday...
  6. Right then, i know i've said we want a 110, but we've just got back from going to look at a 90 TD Hard Top. It was 1989 vintage with 89k on the clock and a host of past MOT's and receipts. It's got alloys, clean interior and an 'A' bar. Offered the chap (dealer) £1,800 but he wanted £2k and wouldn't budge. Purely because he wouldn't negotiate i walked away! I'm quite proud of myself for not buckling when looking at a new Landy, normally they all have to come home! Had a look at the Hard Top 200Tdi 110 that's on buy-now at Brightwells. They want minimum £1,700 and it needs seats, doors, top of bulkhead and that's as far as i got before i decided it was overpriced... I have a feeling i might not find a new truck. Got a chap coming to see the Rangey this evening too
  7. Weehoo, they some big old boots. Thinking of a 110 with +2" running on 285/75s give me groinal warmth!
  8. I had a front go when i had my 110, it took the repeater out as it need he front to be there for the circuit.
  9. She's too clever for her own good... or it fell off during one of the landings.
  10. 300 Tdi? Flash bugger. We'll see which one comes to fruition. If it's the TD i have some cash left over for winch, snorkel and dog guard. If it's a Tdi then i have to be more careful with mud and water, can't pull the roof trusses up and have to cover the seats with cloths! :D
  11. Yes, don't worry mate i'm not ignoring you. I'm still in the running for the 'G' plate TD on fleabay. BUT i'm willing to spend more of what we currently don't have on a Tdi because it will last longer. Love or hate the TD or the Tdi, that's a simple fact because it's newer and acknowledged as one of the best ever L/R engines.
  12. Found a maybe, will all depend on how much we can raise ebaying our worldly goods in the next couple of weeks! It's on a classified ad on th same auction site, but (gulp) £3,500. Needs some tidying and a few jobs doing. It's done 152k on a Tdi on a 'K' with ****ty doors. The roof rack and the bushwires will have to go, that's a certainty! What do you guys think?
  13. I run A/T's as my all year round normal use tyre. The question was meant to see if, for example, consensus would be that a 90 would slide becuase it's too short or a 110 would get stuck becuase it's too long. As it turned out, there was little difference. It's about contrasting the vehicles. I've owned a 110, but never a 90 only Series 88s hence having to ask.
  14. PMSL That made me and the wife chuckle! Next Q. What bits should i check on the TD if i get chance to go and look at it over the weekend? Does it have any tell-tales apart from smoke to say it's had the overheating problems that Les was on about. Need to PM the chap Ralph said too...
  15. Steady on or the 90 owners will put a fatwah on me! Chap on the classifieds wants to come see my Rangey too, so we might be able to take the budget up a notch.
  16. My missus loves my Rangey See? 200Tdi Crewy would be great, but i think a full on 110 CSW would be perfect. Add a winch, 2" lift, snorkel, steering guard, diff guards, land rover logo seats... Mmm. I'm not bothered about the cosmetic condition of what we get, i just don't want to have to weld it for a few years and i'd rather get a few miles out of engine/gearbox etc! In fact, chances are i'd spray it orange anyway once i'd got some spare $$. Is the diff in a salisbury axle an LSD?
  17. That's one of the ones i'd seen on Brightwells! 'N' plater might be a bit rich for me.
  18. I usually take my folding spade and dissappear deep into the wood leaving her good self in charge of the radio, unless i'm on my own which means waiting for a gap! One of those bumper dumpers in a caranex awning with a bucket would be a great scheme. B)
  19. Unfortunately we have to cart other bodies around somtimes, plus our two girls;
  20. I want a bumper dumper! Come in very handy whilst on radio duties on a forest stage!
  21. Thanks very much Mark. You've almost echoed exactly what's bouncing around in my head. I'm surprised what you say about side area in the water, i though 90's were more unstable? The wife would prefer 5 doors over 3, hence my finding CSW's on ebay. She'd also be happy with windows let into the HT, but they only look right on a 90. Windows in a 110 just look wrong unless it's a 5-door! The CSW suits us perfectly, apart from extreme off-roading... and i can't remember the last time we did that! Extreme course at Eastnor 3 years ago maybe? Thanks again. If you see a cheapy, let me know.
  22. My old 110 had 164k on it and drove like it was new. Wonderful truck, just unfortunate it had to go. The one i've found on ebay is a TD with 120k. I reckon i might risk having a prod and save up for a Tdi conversion. Off to the auctions again on tuesday. There are a couple listed in the catalogue. As for my scenarios, would you be confident to take your 110 there? Never did get to off road mine.
