  2. That is for the needle roller bearing, will that fit into my disco part. and is it a replacement for the bush.
  3. I looked at that thread before, still no mention of the part number or if the needle roller bearing will replace the bush.
  4. I'ts a 200TDI Disco. whats left of the item (image), looked like a phosphor bronze bush do you know of the correct part number. or where I can get one. Or if the needle roller bearing from a later model will fit. Here is the setup laid out on the floor. parts fitted togather here and here Axel splines Half shaft splines
  5. I have a Discovery 1 200 TDI. I've had a look at the diagram in the Haynes manual, but cant find the part listed. On the Discovery 2 the part is a 'Constant Velocity Joint Roller Bearing', on the discovery 1 all I can see from the stripped down parts is a sort of a shim type bearing, it looks just like a big end shell. Does anyone know if the discovery 1 will accept a roller bearing from a Discovery 2, or what the correct part is called. I need the exact part name or number, I've ordered lots of parts from Paddocks but cant get the right one. drawing front hub
  6. I had the same problem with an Audi, remove the hoses that go into the heat exchange and get enought hose to bypass them. Or cap both ends off where they join the heat exchange.
  7. Jet Wash sounds good to me, I found this article on how to clean up Rust with vinegar and water. http://www.cookhaus.co.uk/vinegar/index.htm
  8. Great price from Paddocks, Thats the answer. Thank you all.
  9. Ive been flying around the internet trying to locate a similar motor but all i have to go on is its an Delco motor, no ref number or item number. Thanks
  10. Edit To Post above;;; I just found out the cost of a new motor, and LR are having a laugh . Ok so here is the idea, replace the original cross flow blower with a standard type. 1.The cross flow blower used must not require any modification to the motor itself. 2.The electrics and any mounting brackets, must be available or easy enough to make and install even for the novice, with basic tools. 3.It must be able to be inserted and removed without removing the dash. If anyone has or knows of a cross flow blower that would fit and work let me know. Or if you have any ideas, or could help. post here.
  11. Hi I just pulled the heater/blower motor from my 1991 disco, which has burnt out totally. is there anywhere i can purchase the motor only or will i need to purchase the whole heater/blower unit. as a second though has anyone tried to fit a differant type of motor.
  12. The Relay is behiend a small panel by the throttle pedel as Lynall has said, and the relay is the first from the door with two thick white/green stripe wires and thin black and thin green wire going into it. when you turn the ING on you should feel a click. white/green wires ING on + 12 volts black wire eirth green ing on + 12 volts if thats OK it works and the fault is elsewhere.

  14. Arrrrr......... Clue So its in the transfer Box, by Mrs Wheels, with the propeller Shaft. Now i get it, Thank you.
  15. so if the transfer box selecter is in the neutral position, and i select 1 gear the disco should still pull away. at present it only pulls if the transfre box lever is in HI or LO gear position. I have also noticed the diffloc warning light sometimes failes to come on when the lever is in the difflock position.
  16. first LR..... when the little gearlever next to the big gearlever is in neutral, does that mean the gearbox is isolated from the engine. when i put the little lever in the N position and select gears with the big lever the car wont drive, is that correct.
  17. OK, i found the eirth strap to the starter motor cleaned it up and charged the old battery which came from it, and the bugger turns over as normal. 10 times in a row it started no problems. I checked the charging system and the alternator seems to not be charging, so thats next. All i need now is swimming trunks, googles, snorkel, flippers and im ready to drive sail this sub. Thank you.
  18. Hello I just got this Disco (my first (failed to notice the “for gods sake put this down and buy a Mitsibushy” sticker)). Anyway I have a new Starter Motor fitted by previous owner 1 month ago, and a new battery fitted by me yesterday. 1991, 200TDI, Manual. The problem I have is the starter motor turns very slow, when I use jump leads it still turns slow. The engine will always fire up when I get it to spin, but it just turns over very slow on the starter motor. I can leave the lights on full beam for a couple of hours and the battery will be fine, but when I engage the starter it turns over real slow. It reminds me of a faulty starter motor, that earth's out. I have noticed there are no earth straps from the starter bolts to the battery. Any ideas, would a new starter wear after a month.
