Would a detroit be better for someone who only uses their truck off road and is on a smaller budget? i.e, me! Or are they not so good as they tend to bring on understeer when trying to turn off road? btw, I have seen the detroits for about £365 new and the arb for £525 plus the compressor

We have had sun, rain, windy, hail and snow. Not easy when working on a rangie

I have seen a rather special twin motored 8274 which wasn't gigglepin. The guy had welded two 8274's together, running one motor forward and the other backwards. And I have to say I seemed to pull just as powerful and as quick as your gigglepins. The only down side was it was rather big and heavy. However, if you carried out the same operation on two twin motored gigglepins........................hydro winches would definatly be in trouble. Although obviously there is alot more to it than picking up your grinder and mig welder!!

Nick, make sure you get another good pic of us, like you did at santa's. Its the one in our display.
Sorry to be rude, but are you in Dave Stoke's old truck? If so was that you down at slab with the huge boggers on instead of the simex?

Ok, what I will do is clean a bit of them up to see what make they actually are, all I know atm is they are triple silocone and red!
-
Yeah Stebbington sounds familiar. No, unfortunatly I proberly won't be there. Got things to do on mine own truck so I can go out and have a play
Still to update you on what we was talking about at the mission 4x4 challenge, my super swampers are on there way from Califonia, should be hear in 2 weeks. Still need to fit my arch extensions and paint my beadlock wheels. This weekend I am going three holes with my dads bf muds, so at least I get a run in it
Oh, and just fitted some janspeed tubular manifolds, sounds great
Anyway, back to topic..................

What about the brick quarry (Whittlesey) Are they not there this year?
-
Especially that - everything else is just p*ssing about quite frankly, you can improve it but will never make it waterproof compared to the EDIS setup.
Mind you, if you've got no snorkel and never drive through anything deep it shouldn't be having problems as long as you've got genuine ignition parts and nothing stupidly exposed. My dad can get his RR EFI at least 2ft deep without too much hassle and it's bone stock.
When doing a little more waterproofing to it the other day (putting silocone around all live connections) I noticed that the ht leads were triple silocone. So they are not standard but will they still work fine, or better?
-
Yeah that sounds about right
As long as a diesel has a turbo, a straight through exhaust isn't very loud.
Also once you have decided what exhaust system you would like, I would highly recommend that the place to go would be A14 exhausts is bury st edmunds. They will do it exactly how you want it, out of 2mm thick stainless, lifetime warranty, and very, very well priced. Anything you want they can do it

Wow, 101db!!
I have a 250f honda motocrosser and thats only 96db, and it still rings your ears

Huh, thats funny. I did a search first and all it kept coming up with is some kind of unobtainable error. Tried and tried but nothing? Anyway, thank you for that, I will spend the rest of my night reading!

Just like to say well done and congratulations to chris and co. for the victory. I was watching him for some of the day and driving and dedication was very impressive. Well done to Adrian as well, very impressive driving skills there too! And pat on the back to everyone else as it was a great day even though I was a spectator!
Cheers

Hi all,
Right, going out this weekend coming and now its all wet, my v8 needs to be a little more water resistant. It was having a problem that down on the passenger side wing there seemed to be something there that as soon as there was a drop of water the engine would cut out instantly, like someone had turned off the key. Now, I think that it was a connector on an electrical box on the air-flow meter bracket, which seemed to be letting in water. (Not to technical here now!) However, because when I fitted the gwyn lewis challenge kit the trurret stuck up too much, fouling on the air-flow meter, so I moved the air-flow meter to face straight at the side on the bonnet (exactly how devon's 110 trayback is) so now this has been moved and covered up, it should be out of the water a little more, also a little pointer, the throttle responce has increased slightly as it is less restrictive, which is rather nice. The coil has got a rubber hat on it so that has been waterproofed and the dizzy has loads on silocone on it and it no problem at all. Just need a little info on what else I can do?
Oh, and just to point out, I don't drive through water that is any deeper than 2ft really as I don't have a snorkel, its the shallower stuff and puddles that seem to be the problem when it splashes up.
Cheers Rhys

Well my umbrella and wellies will be packed

I will be going down tomorrow as well, but atm it is absoulty chucking it down
I hope as I am quite a distance from slab that it will be better down there than it is here

In my personal experience I was not impressed with the full width one and went back to a bigger standard width one.
I found when off roading that the low speed combined with the intercooler running very close along the front of the radiator actually warmed up the intercooler so it had little benefit.
I changed back to a Brunnell uprated one that fits in the standard slot and immediately saw an improvement.
The full width one was good on the road though, but hardly better than the deep core normal width.
The other problem was the full width required removing the diagonal braces for the slam panel, which fine for 6 months and then I had issues closing the bonnet and had to go over to bonnet pins.
Well, that's my 2p.
I can also say that the uprated brunnel intercooler is very good, as we had one on our disco 300tdi, along with another few mods, its performance was improved no end, mpg went up and overall felt a much better engine. I would recommend brunnel to you

I will be ok as mine has now been taken off the road and will be trailered everywhere. But no good if I want it back on the road and definatly no good for all you guys

I have some from bt fabrications. Great piece of kit. Just got to paint them now!!!
Oh, and the reason the inner bead does not come off is because it is so much wider than the outer bead.
-
correct me if im wrong but isn't the scorpion kit copyed from this?
might be cheaper?
Ouch on your wallet if you buy from here!
The full kit that includes absolutly everything costs....................................upto £4500
Scorpion are around the £2500 mark but I maybe wrong? Gwyn's kit which I would certainly recommend as I also use it, is £1200 and its old man emu so expect it to last and you definatly get what you pay for, fantastic.
-
It all depends on how tall the tyre is really. You can run a 12.5" wide tyre on it well but I have seen upto 14" wide tyres on them but that was 37" tall. What size are you planning on running?
-
Most people on here (including myself) like the gwyn lewis old man emu suspension. A highly recommended kit but it all depends on what you are intending to do and how extreme you would like to go. You could just settle for a standard 2" lift from old man emu.

Think I may of researched the wrong winch there then
Sorry about that
How much is it though? The equivelant comeup is £399
-
all that I know is that it is slower than the superwinch and comeup.
