  1. You could also try BORG 4x4 - Bux and Oxon 4x4 Resposnse Group: www.borg4x4.org. We're usually out once a month, and we meet in Bicester. If you don't want to do the response stuff thne there's no need.
  2. With the description 2/4 wheel drive it would be of one of the very early 2 1/2 petrol / diesel 90/110's and so would mosy likely be around the 1.6 ratio. They only built them briefly to run out seris 3 stocks befor converting to full time 4wd.
  3. Excellent event - probably the best one this year for us. Many thanks to Rogue Vogue for the loan of his spare ground anchor , in the rush to rebuild the engine after kirton we left ours behind. Not too much broken this time (lights, shock absorber, hand brake).
  4. Back to the original question about DiscoII / P38 boxes - firstly they are from different manufacturers DiscoII is Adwest, P38 is ZF (I think but may be wrong). Comparing Adewst Disco II to Adwest Defender / RR / Disco I it is bigger and stronger - the sector shaft is thicker so it should be better. Sorry don't know about the P38 box.
  5. Excellent day - very enjoyable and good punches too. The rear prop decided to part company with the vehicle on the special stage at 2 o'clock, so limped back and fitted a spare only to find we had ripped the the rear a-frame bracket off the axle! Decided we had better retire hurt! At least the run back down the M6 and the M40 was better at that time of day.
  6. Thanks everyone - 18 it seems to be I'll find out on Saturday if you're right
  7. Hi, I've just picked up a set of 35x10.5x16 Simex Extremes fitted to TX Performance Alloys without tubes, and will be seeing how they go on Saturday at Walters Arena. I've read a whole load of threads about pressuring down, single beadlocks, twin beadlocks, Staun Beadlocks, spinning inner tubes if pressures are too low etc. etc., which are all very interesting but I haven't got any of these So how low can I go and stand a reasonable chance of not popping the bead?
  8. I have an original Defender 200Tdi with a tired engine, and I have also just scrapped my old 200 tdi Discovery which had a good engine. How easy is it to put the Discovery engine in the Defender? I know I'll need to change the exhaust manifold and turbo over, and I think I'll need to change the front cover. Is there anything else I need to worry about? Thanks
  9. For my sins I worked at Land rover many years ago and was responsible for buying these: - radius arms are steel forgings (not castings) - a-frame are steel forgings (HRC 1705 & 6 from memory) - panhard rod I'm not 100% certain but is either steel tube / steel bar I'm not sure but the radius arms and a-frame will probably be supplied by Stokes Forgings - http://www.stokesforgings.com/index.html Hope this helps
