  3. Hi Baloo As it is only a small hole it might be better to repaire it. but im told that it is a common prob with disco's and that it indicates rust elsware. have a good look and if the tin worm has a good hold then you might like to take the same action that i am doing (see here: http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopi...t&p=129432) B) you could always get a replacement pannel Lawrence (defcol)

  6. As per title: The kitchen sink got used for what it was made for…… . Stripping down and cleaning parts for my LandRover… By the time I’ve finished it will be mostly Warn out Managed to pick up a used 8274 £180, not a bad deal I was thinking.. Still do but it is now clear that some money needs to be spent, 1. Clutch plates 2. Needs a solenoid pack 3. New seals 4. Remote connecter (female) 5. Ball bearings And I haven’t got it stripped down yet. To that end can any one advise if service kits are available, and are there any do’s & don’ts when dismantling? What oil to use…? Any and all advises welcome as have zero experience with winch servicing Many thanks will put up some pics when it dosnt take half hr + to upload 87kb Lawrence
  7. Very sad news. I echo "Thoughts go out to those involved and their family". did he leave wife/kids? and if so; is there a whip-round for him? does anyone know the site/organiser? not knowing the site cant comment on rules and regs or if marshalled or not but would be useful to know if harness and roll cage were fitted and being used. I will now get one! and a harness.
  8. Hi Chris, Just back from Portugal (last night) where I stumbled upon the rally in Portimao (the algarve) was going there to shop with my son only to find the city closed off. Didn't have my camara with me but did manage to get one pick with mobile before running out of charge. must say the support vehicles are huge. there were people tracking them by car and bike but imagin that would end once out of europe. Lawrence

  11. Hi all Can direct me to or has anyone got any cad or top/side/back/front drawings of disco 1 ? I want to design a semi tray back and cage for my disco have now found someone more reliable time wise to fabricate it for me so need to make sure that I get what I want..... Tia Lawrence
  12. Hi Diff Really useful thread, have found it very informative. Re: Kinetic RR and strops I was wondering if there is a recommended way of cleaning after muddy use or more importantly if there are any definite no - no's in order to maintain effectiveness? Re: Safe recovery practice’s does anyone run or know of training weekend or can a group of trusted old hands from this forum get together and run a recovery w/e with LR4x4 cert of completion? I say this as have been to a few different sites where even the organisers seem to have ' lets see how quick we can recover this one as if to impress the crowd' Bits of old rope lashed to anything available Very small shackles Pulling in the wrong direction letting spectators crowd round and way too close to cable being used to Snatch Even poofy football has trained linesman 4x4 offroading is potentially a very dangerous but now recognised sport So why can we not train and run accredited marshals at events? it would lift the profile of the sport lets ensure that safety really does come first Lawrence
