  5. Zero Tolerance Speed Cameras With the road toll continuing to increase each year especially around holiday period s , Zero Tolerance Speed Cameras will be introduced to the UK just in time for the summer The new, German made cameras look different to the normal cameras, so I have included a photo so that you are familiar with them and able to make sure YOU DO NOT SPEED when approaching one of these devices. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Please take this warning seriously as you will not get another chance.
  6. totally agree nige now keep mine locked, in locked garage with the gate locked too. that way I don't have to worry about waking up to find bumper and winch missing . Spare key's also locked away in safe. Now i only worry about remembering the safe code and car getting keyed by some stoned/drunk dikhead. shred and burn all paper work cctv on bins and combo lock on cookie jar....... still lost my wallet the other day. oh well sht happens
  7. This is not sub £100... but may be a bargain at Offer Price £140.95 inc VAT 285lb//ft 285 pound foot = 386.408 newton meter.....
  8. Had fun with this... From a sales point of view the name should be somewhat onomatopoeic... It looks mean, it looks like it won’t give in and is blessed with raw power that will pull you out of anything… A Serious looking machine So I was thinking of something like this:
  9. So will the front hoop (top half) be smaller than the body silhouette if so it wont provide much A piler protection Also my thinking was reaffirmed when You commented on my build about how important a bottom rail for the front hoop was. If that is not on show, where will it be? if it is on show (toast rack according to some) why hide the legs and loose the extra protection example below where the cage is not attached to the chassis & no bottom rail. Has some form of wing bars (but nothing substantial bracing them ) this is prone to and receives some body damage Of course this is just my view point based on my reason for needing a protective cage with my driving style :
  10. must get some more bread.............. have used mine aggressively without need of panel replacement, also my Son loves to climb over it but not when i'm driving I like to keep mine reasonably bash free & the external cage does just that, it also prevents unwanted removal (by trees) of wing mirrors. So at least it complies with the design brief.... and to be honest I prefer the look and protection. But each to their own..... inside wing/foot wells ? on disco that's not an option without loss peddle space what does your truck offer in terms of getting a fix onto the chassis? I had to design/make and weld on 4 substantial outriggers . good luck Bish
  11. Mine: 300tdi auto; in the mornings she starts, I shift it to D or R and same as yours I rev but go nowhere for 10/20 secs then she starts to creep up to power. for first half mile she wont shift out of 1st gear, I have to continually try to kick down until she finally engages normally, then after she behaves her self. last week I topped up the tqf ( which is a PITA) as you need to do it when cold filling via dip tube and wait in between fills for TQF to drain out of tube to avoid false readings, its easy to over fill. Anyhow now filled correctly but still has a lag in the power delivery and still wont shift for first half mile or so. No abnormal clunking these issues did not appear until after filter and TQF oil change. Dont you just love LR's
  12. Err No..... Neutral is the clue. As BogMonster said "doesn't isolate the gearbox from engine, isolates gearbox from the axles" hence no drive. Basically The drive train: [1]Engine.. [2]Clutch/torque converter.. [3] Gearbox.. [4]transfer box.. [5] Propeller shafts..[6]Differentials.. [7]Half shafts.. [8] Wheels If high or low is selected you will have drive unless any of 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 or 8 fails. If high or low in diff lock is selected and you have a failure on front or rear axle(not both) 5,6,7, or 8 you will maintain drive through the other axle. Failure (not just a minor fault) on 1,2,3,or 4 will prevent drive this is just the basics, as there are many minor and severe faults that will cause loss of drive
  13. I'll second that... Club chairman is Jeremy Price, they run some good green lane trips and visit some good sites. ALFC my mates and i were all members last this year but as we are also members of two other clubs we just don't have time for Aylesbury as well. Also we are into punch and winch challenges not green laning so much..... Also you might like to try Burnham offroaders they do challenges , lanes and trials Lawrence
  14. Must be catching as I have same prob with my 300tdi .... i have twin batteries loads of juice and a starter with a mind of its own. there is no sluggishness, no click, just action or dead Razzle frazzle flucking worzle ferggers Just as well it didn't stall during my water crossing the other day can you direct me to Les's post? 15. just read this on their website and if true I think that brown has put his tax eye in backwards.... "DID YOU KNOW THAT - UK Fuel is being squandered to America This damning news has been brought to my attention by someone working in the petro-chemical industry in the UK who shall remain anonymous. It is said that Phillips Petroleum in the UK are pumping oil reserves in from the Echo Frisk platform in the North Sea and supplying...wait for it...the USA with OUR fuel. It is also less widely know that the US Forces over here including their families using OUR roads are driving around at discounted fuel by OUR Government to the tune of only 80P per GALLON! Yes, GALLON not LITRE! Basically we are supplying fuel to the USA that could be better used for our own reserves. The Echo Frisk platform is supplying to Phillips in Teeside and then being shipped across the Atlantic to the USA for them to use. So there you have it, a Government making a shambolic gesture to its citizens. Whilst its ok to rip us UK citizens off with massive fuel taxation, it is ok for the US services and families to have fuel supplied at only 80p per gallon. I for one am certainly very unhappy at this revelation ! Yet again, Welcome to RIP OFF Britain "TransAction 2007" Working with the "Welsh Independent Hauliers"
  16. some say "better the devil you know" so deiced what faults yours has, then how much will you get for it? what will the upgrade cost over and above your existing. Can you afford it? if so and it gives you a buzz , then go for it.... you only live once

    ARB

Thanks bish Thanks for the link.... Fairly simple did you say,,, was talking o a mate who said back lash should be set at 4mm.. dont see that as a problem. again , thanks for the link Tony....... Washers N bolts should be no prob but I understand the bearing numbers might be as this is a D1 24 spline something about sleeves I think? Any one know the correct ones? good idea but how do you check the condition and how easy are they to recondition? mmmmm...... the Pinion is slightly scared/dented so might have to replace that. have found supplier @ £450+ the dreaded, but I will get that back so seems a good price Anyone know of any cheaper? Thanks

Had one too many diffs fail me recently........... So was thinking to buy the ARB and build it up myself... aRRrr but a word of caution smacked me in the head It reminded me that is better to ask and be safe. So how difficult is it ? are there any step by step threads? any links to a "HOW TO" page? ANYone got any sound advise born of personal experiance? surely it cant be that difficult................Can it? Please let me know befor I bu£$er it up Tahanks Defcol
  20. Not Xactly sure but think it has something to do with the bend moment deflection rate being compromised by the rotational power curve that is increased by overamping of the index trigger. This can be counteracted by reducing magnetic the flow rate that is derived from overactive adrenalGlands. Alternativly remove the plug. A good grind is better than…………………………………
  21. I assume that you have checked your A-frame joints and mounts I'm no expert but am told that when these are only worn the can create rear steer. If it is veering to to right check all the near-side joints / mounts first. post up your post code and you may get a friendly pop in and help.
  22. have you previously had difficulty shifting into low range ? or has this problem occurred only recently ? Only recently, ie: started having difficulties with selection on last event. Prior to removing t/box to have a look, I was only able to select c/diff lock and not normal drive. This was only available in high, and happened whilst driving. I feel that further diagnosis would require separating the difflock linkage from the high/low lever and operating the linkage independantly to ascertain what's going on. Yep tried that and was able to operate and select Back the high/low detent spring/ball plug on the right hand rear side of the transfercase right off, remove bottom inspection plate and try to shift the range change collar via the hi/ low lever with the help of a large screwdriver against the collar if necessary. On reassembly we tensioned the spring ball to enable selection, and was rewarded with: C/diff lock high and low, normal high and low. If you are certain that the collar is fully engaged with the dog teeth on either high or low gear the vehicle should drive. If it doesn't drive and makes horrible crunching noises the Spidergears in the centre diff have broken, but you will still get front wheel.drive if you lock the diff. If you manage to engage low range, ie collar moved forward and engaged with dog teeth on large gear, but the engine stalls when you try to move off, No crunching or noise, no stalling as was able to select normal high drive, “Great; all working until started engine, whereupon were only able to select (with a massive struggle) Normal drive in High and have not been able to disengage since.” it is because the high range (smaller) gear has partially seized onto the centre diff carrier. In this case the vehicle will drive or attempt to drive with the shift collar in the neutral position also. Just so we are both clear, your photos show the transfercase gears in low range. Bill it was driving in neutral when moved to the left and no drive when moved to the right. Now just stuck in normal high after being selected ie: moved to the right and towards the back of cab. one possibility is that the linkage has bent thus not allowing full movement. will get it over the pit hope to find something obvious. Are you sure that the damaged gear will not be the problem? And if so, How long will the gear remain operational with that amount of damage already sustained? All help and advice welcomed T hanks I n A dvance Defcol
