  1. Nice link, have just been on the blower to them and unfortunately they don’t do that system currently as they are waiting for new system due out (by their estimate) in August this should give a 30% fuel saving with a 20 to 40% power increase old system gave 20 to 25% and installation cost around £1200 Installation has a 5-week waiting time They did say they could still get the old system but that it would be better to wait. Hope this info helps any wouldbe gasers Lawrence
  2. Good evening, Can anyone tell me the breaking strain of a Plazma 11mm rope? as the bloke selling it is not sure TIA Lawrence
  3. did you mean "two" as in last three posts? be assured that my comments were absit iniuria verbis
  4. ...."one set of wheels, for example) to sell, it's commercial".... Does that mean the members will have to place 4 adds of 1 wheel to sell 4 wheels they are trying to up grade or even just get their money back? Remember even a loss can be viewed as commercial… How many times can you place an add (different items) before it becomes commercial? "Can/should we make it a policy than any commercial advertiser will be assumed to be offering a 20% discount to forum members?" That would surely just drive prices up in the classifieds, sounds like self-destruct. . If a venue site rent /costs can not be covered the such site would have to close... I see how that may be the aim of interested parties.. but is that truly in the interest of members who like to use their 4x4? my view would be that it is not. I have two 4x4’s a 110 200tdi with PTO winch and a 300tdi disco with electric winch, both used for the only hobby I have. I visit other sites and enjoy them but of course I regularly need to get bits for them both. I would prefer to get them from the forum as then I can ask other members what they think…. Re: other sites is that not what the getting out there section is about? Like this nanny state we live in, too much policy kills freedom of speech. I’m English and proud of it Peace to all fellow humans
  5. Hi this is a none personal reply in my defence To explain: Fairys1 is not Lawrence; it is in fact the other half of Rusper site. He like I was under the impression that the getting out there forum was not subject to the 20 post rule. We also viewed the title as inviting members (New or old) to inform others about what is out there to do. In reality Rusper (our site) had been the subject of many more than 20 posts in the past, so Bob did not see any problem in letting you all know the site is again available..... The problem was that I was not available to inform him of the log in details so he started a new one for himself. I My self 'Lawrence' log on as Bandl = Bob and Lawrence, and find the site very interesting, I hope that I have not posted any rubbish as I tend to think an answer should be contributory to the forum members. With regard to that point Here is a part of what I replied to admin “Bob and I use this site to offer your users an available venue for them to play. We of course will be interested in supporting this very informative site and would still have joined if there had been a fee for doing so as that would make it fair to all. I have not made a single penny from the Rusper site and remain heavily out of pocket for every day it has been available. This might change if we can get the attendance numbers up. We have not come on here to sell items but rather to offer a service to your users”. I do hope that this site and its members can embrace people like Bob and myself as we are not here To sell items for profit but we do organise and run a site that is not only 4x4’s but that part of it surly is to the benefit of you all. if a discount to members breaks the rules then we will withdraw the offending offer… Peace and respect to all…………..
  6. In my oppinion --- No, if it is a benifit to any member and clearly ads for 4x4 vehicles/parts/events in the classified/event sections of this public 4x4 forum are a good service to the members.. In my oppinion. Lawrence
  7. QUOTE Yes you could set the req'd post to a private club type number, but what would you achieve? What on earth do you mean by that? 20-post rule is reasonable and is there to prevent spammers/abusers of this website. If you want that, then not here, this site is successful in a large part because of no commercial ties. Sponsors or spammers. QUOTE LR4x4 members surly need on the odd occasion to renew or improve their beloved chariot, and for that they need parts. to my view if more parts are advertised , you get a much better choice and price; surly that is a benefit to all lr4x4’s. If they are current members, then it's reasonable to think that they might have already made the required number of posts. QUOTE Alternatively you can make it a closed shop where you can only buy from the approved elite who have 100 posts+. Then when nearly all have that you, can raise it again & again & again....... No offense, but that's ridiculous. Reply please note that i was replying (as per quote) to the suggested 100 posts post..... QUOTE if a post is offering something that a member needs... then it should be allowed if this forum is here to improve its members usage of their 4x4 Perhaps you could benefit us all with your wisdom and define what is and is not allowed? In the real world smaller companied pretend to be individual sellers (Mr Wuffles is a case in point) No doubt he is doing us a 'favour' by selling Land Rover parts on here, but then so is any other company doing us that supposed same favour. We then get into the realms of the commercialism we are supposedly set against. I think and support the 20-post rule - it's what is reasonable in my book. Doing anything else is making it unnecessarily complicated. Les I did not post to get into a personal insult match, I was simply offering my humble 2p's worth. I was in no way trying to infer I had any wisdom. Re: What on earth do you mean by that? I dont recall suggesting that spam should be on here.. I am of the view that a closed market only serves to drive prices up, In the real world please note that i was replying (as per quote) to the suggested 100 posts post..... So if the 20 post rule has been working, is there any need to raise it?? "In the real world " we are dealing with cr8p every day including oil prices and strive not to affect the quality of life because of the inconsiderate, criminal, loutish unruly behaviour of the few misguided sw8nes that unfortunately also live on this large lump of rock travelling through space at 66500 mile per hour and going no where fast... Sure it is better to prevent criminal activity (spam) but also to allow freedom for the reasonable folk.... in support of you efforts but just adding my 2p's worth
  8. This site was recommended to me as a fair forum run by adults for adult 4x4 lovers. we are adult and have to deal with junk mail on a daily basis, I don’t have any difficulty in working out what to keep or ditch. Yes you could set the req'd post to a private club type number, but what would you achieve? LR4x4 members surly need on the odd occasion to renew or improve their beloved chariot, and for that they need parts. to my view if more parts are advertised , you get a much better choice and price; surly that is a benefit to all lr4x4’s. Alternatively you can make it a closed shop where you can only buy from the approved elite who have 100 posts+. Then when nearly all have that you, can raise it again & again & again....... if a post is offering something that a member needs... then it should be allowed if this forum is here to improve its members usage of their 4x4 My very humble 2p's worth
