  1. Back wheels locked up and bought the disco to a stop - after a short period it was all free again, feels like the back wheel turn then stop then turn (via the drive shafts if that makes sense)
  2. 200 series disco, what sort of damage is expected after the rear axle locks up while in diff lock?
  3. Would the dash cluster wires cause this? as these are the only ones I have disconnect - unless the dash pulled on a wire when it was coming out.
  4. My one wont start after the dash being out, pump wont prime. Engine spins over as normal.
  5. I have no power to the fuel pump, the fuel pump cut off switch is fine, but the pump wont prime. The flapper type seems to be reset when you open it by hand - does the hot wire need anything done to this to turn the power to the ful pump back on?
  6. I know its an old thread but I'm hasving the same problem after I disconnect the battery for the past wk or so. Where is this flapper?? Thanks Marty
  7. Thanks David, diffo think i will go down this route, end of the day it can be modded to fit :-)
  8. I like the idea of the up rated fan will it diffo do the disco? I dont mind modding it :-) - got the housing sorted - plastic weld it :-) lol Im in Coleraine in Nothern Ireland.
  9. OK stripped the dash out today, motor has had it. Where is the best place to get one from? Had a quick google and they seem to be near or around the £200 mark for a wee motor? or is that the whole housing??? Also I need the housing as 2 of the flaps are broken and controls as the cable had seized a few yrs back so while the dash is out I may as well replace it all. Marty
  10. I agree with Les the K series head gasket is pretty standard and easy to do - great access etc.. Where abouts are you? maybe someone could help you out? Marty
  11. Now sorted, plugged freelander into launch - all is well with the hippo :-)
  12. Should a 2002 1.8 freelander work with an elm 327? I have tried connecting to it but with no luck says no power on the car side. I thought it shouldve been compatible????
  13. Yep its 3" off the bottom ie in the oil rail. Got it sorted came out with the stud remover, and the sump off. 9 times out of 10 jaysjetski these bolts can be removed using a 1/2" socket rachet! never hand to use a breaker bar on them yet! After looking at the old bolts some idiot had used what looks like chemical metal or jb weld on them! must have ran out of thread lock
  14. Just replaced the head gasket on this freelander, new bolts etc.. my own fault I lifted an old ones which lets just same must have been put in with an air gun as they took a bit of a crack with a breaker bar to get out certainly no 20nm lol Anyway the bolt has broken off about 3" or so off the bottom on the bolt - bolt is in the middle of the rear to the rear of the engine. Can this be removed by taking the sump off and using a stud extractor? Marty
  15. Hope attached file helps Marty fl-petrol.pdf
  16. I would diffo say it will be written off due to its age and total cost of repair. CAT D would be may bet, have a word with the assessor when he/she comes out to view it to see how much to buy it back. Shouldn't be more than a few hundred quid. Any car etc.. now over 2-3yrs old thats been in an accident seems to go bye bye to the scrap yard or sold off to accident repair centres As for the VIN I dont see any issues for the repair, as the VW Camper program that has been on discovery Turbo a few times the restorer went to town and cut nearly the whole shell apart inc the VIN, the guy had to go looking for the piece of metal with the VIN on it lol he said he would just hang onto it - dont no what hassle tho it would cause come MOT time Marty
  17. Easier sometimes to buy a replacement - I got mine from http://electricwindowsdirect.co.uk/ a lot lot cheaper than others. Download rave and that will give you how to take the window apart. I cant remember how I did mine as it was last yr lol, but it is simple to do, just take you time and becareful with the glass :-) Marty
  18. As far as I no yes it can be done, you just need to replace the rear cam shaft with the one from the dizzy engine & swap over the rocker covers. It was been covered a few times over on the mg rover forum but for the life of me I cant find the page lol hth marty
  19. Flashing MIL Lamp is normally a multiple misfire across the cylinders. Check you plugs/leags/coils etc.. Or in my case it was 2 damaged exhuast valves. Causing the same problem hth Marty
  20. I have had this problem with a RRC, it ended up it was a puncture repair that was causing it. Stuck with this annoying problem for 6 months then the local little dears started to jam knifes into tyres for fun!!! went for two new rear tyres and found that when the tyres where replaced the wobble went. I would try putting your rears on the front and front on the rear to see if the wobble goes Marty
  21. most likely the inlet manifold gasket - cheap repair, at around £8 depending on where you get part. 30mins top to replace very easily tackled by yourself. regards Marty ps - had the same problem with a 2002 k series freelander
  22. Sounds like a faulty water temp sensor. Easy fix & cheap to less than £20 :-) Marty
  23. you havent put the crank shaft sensor wire on the coil pack (ie the wires are in the wrong place) to make sure take the coil one off and make sure you have 12v at it when the ign in on. the plugs are the same - its easily done if these wires have came off. Marty
  24. Many thanks Just front & rear springs, and rear shocks to order up then Marty
