Retroanaconda
If a tractor is on the cards anyway then I’d definitely pursue that, far better for pulling things or just generally getting about.
Jon W
I think electric, good value for money and easy to install. You are just pulling some timber about not like you will be working it everyday. If battery power becomes a problem just add a split charge or alternate the work your doing and chop up logs in between hauling the timber up to let the battery recharge. A friend ran a challenge truck on a single battery for quite a while without problems. But if you want
Cynic-al
If your intending a split charge for use with a winch you just need to think it through and check how what your buying works. They generally are fitted to stop discharge of the engine battery whilst running domestics overnight with the engine switched off. Usually when your winching you have the engine running to top up the batteries as quickly as possible. In this case both batteries will be discharged unless your split charge system is smart enough to monitor the main battery voltage and protect it.
