samcrook
Hi Guys, My first post, but I've been lurking for a while I've just replaced the rear drivers side wheel bearings and brake shoes on my 200tdi 90 as the oil seal had gone. Now all was fine untill i put the drum back on which binds, this is before doing any hub nuts up. Ive checked the shoes are seated ok and the adjuster is backed off, but still no luck. Any advice ? Cheers, Sam
western
the new brake shoe friction material will have to bed in, I get the same on my '89 110's rear drum brakes, after a few miles the brake bed in & then a quick readjust will give good braking. steve_a
check the shape of the drum shoes, i had some brit part ones which were complete cack and I had to grind the correct shape onto them so that they didn't bind. Not something you would normally think to check at all. If both sides though, suggest you need to look at making sure the adjusters are fully backed off. Les Henson
What make are the brake shoes? Some are really poor quality/ different curve to the drum. I've had to dress brake shoes with a file before now to get a drum on. Les.

Cheers, Sam You said 'the adjuster is backed off' - implying that you have only backed off one adjuster. I have a 110 which has two adjusters - one for each shoe. Does the 90 not have 2 adjusters too? Hope you get it sorted, Regards, Diff
samcrook
Just the one adjuster on 90s. Will check the shoes when i next get a chance, im sure they're britpart or simalar, could well be that. Cheers, Sam
