gerrymc123
Is a Defender 6 bolt PAS box fitted with a different drop arm to a 4 bolt PAS box or is the same drop arm compatible?
Tim2809
according to the online parts catalogue yes rtc6398 for rhd 6 bolt and stc1044 rhd 4 bolt. john craddocks say the stc1044 is superceeded to rtc6398 so would suggest can be interchanged
gerrymc123
Mmmnnn, I was hoping the answer was no as I've removed the old arm and cant get the new one on. I have come across an advert marketing the rtc 6398 arm for the 6 bolt box and the 4 bolt manual box, I was hoping perhaps I had a 4 bolt PAS box one which would account for why it won't slip on. Tim2809
the ball joint kits have different part numbers and no other supplier seams to cross refrence/superceeded numbers so perhaps they are not interchangable
Retroanaconda
The 6-bolt Gemmer box takes a different drop arm to the 4-bolt and 3-bolt Adwest boxes. 3/4-bolt Adwest takes STC1045 for LHD vehicles and STC1044 for RHD vehicles. 6-bolt Gemmer takes RTC6399 for LHD vehicles and RTC6398 for RHD vehicles. The RTC6398 arrived and was fitted today on the 1990 Defender, I'll put the the other one, QFW000020 which replaced part number STC1044, on the shelf as a spare for the TD5 I have as it'll likely fit that model.
