MIDNIGHT12
I have a 200TDI Land rover Defender Turbo Diesel 2.5 L 03/1993 11L Engine. That has a gearbox oil leak at the rear ? It looks like the oil is coming out of the rear main shaft of the gear box? Has anyone come a cross this and a fix? thx les
Landy7
Are you sure it's leaking gearbox oil? Or transfer box oil?
Eightpot
If its between gearbox and transfer box, the fix is to either remove or slide the transfer box back far enough to replace seal ICV100000

reb78
For the output seal on the LT77 the OP probably has you are supposed to pull the collar on the output shaft, remove and replace the seal and then refit the collar. But can be done on the vehicle. Input seal, intermediate shaft and the lower bolt on the transfer box could also all leak at that point so it could be one of them. Eightpot
The fix is going to depend on exactly where the leak is - commonly the t-box input seal leaks, no need to strip gearboxes just separate the two and fit a new seal, if it is this seal you will normally have ep90 dripping through a small cutout drain channel between the t-box/gearbox. Could be from a number of other places as well though, so give it a good cleanup underneath so you can see the exit point first.
