rear diff oil leak

1996 discovery. I have recently noticed a few more oil spots on my drive. On closer inspecion it appears to be originating from the rear differential where the pinion exits the diff case. Looking through the work shop manual there seems to be a seal in this location.

Are these seals items that regulary go, and how easy are they to replace?

Yes there is a seal, yes they go, not too bad to change, in that order.

You may need to replace the flange as well (the bit the propshaft bolts to) as there is a seal track on the flange and if that is scored, then a new seal won't last any time.
